I myself only have about 100 +\- ping in the server or so

I cannot play normally due to the fact that anything I throw shoots from
the place my ship was 5 seconds ago, and actually server-side's hits 5 seconds after too

usually it always misses, that is actually very most likely to occure when your lasers/missiles fire 5 seconds after you fire, and they go from where you were 5 seconds before they fired

that is, if it hits server side, while on my side I see it hits all the time but no damage is done

overall if I even try the easiest missions (with less then 5k payment) it
takes me really really long time to hit and eventually kill any ship
sometimes I just give up with only half full ammo and full hp/shields
cause its impossible for me to complete the mission and not having
the sudden urge to shave my face (I dont like insanly amounts of unneccessary hair growing here and there...)

oh and by the way I am about level 40+ with Titan I think and some ... maybe 4 class 10 items some codenames too

I cant even do a 5k mission normally, it takes just too long to complete, not worth $$$ the time. not mensioning successfully completing missions for my level with mission goals to hit random moving ships

Alas, Im not here to complain about noob problems or stuff like that, its just not my thing right now!!!

in case a minority would wonder why am I even bothering playing THE VOID, if PvP or NPCvP is impossible for me, well Im just exploring the very
interesting and vast NEW experience for me of the freelancer online playing thingy Razz

which is really new to me,
its my first server in a year and a half or so ^_^

and I can only attack stuff that never moves, like Weapon Platforms/Stations murdz4z0r missions and stuff like that

and do random trades

btw I have no idea what you can do with any of the new items that this mod has
and the single player with no mods - doesnt have

I guess I gonna make another thread about it asking in some noob
section if I find one but I'd be more then happy if anyone mensions anything about the "SPECIAL ITEMS" right here as well ^_^

there was a war in sparta 2 weeks ago ,XEF annonced it , it was going 1 week , that was a nice time a happy time , pulled not on my nerves.

but know im happy to see somebody to speak about it in forum , i always fear to do ....

2 weeks now, everyday it is not possible to shoot with torps , also it is very difficult with all the light-fighters which jumping most time .

yeah its a big problem for me , because i like to fight to much .

for example , i see many times 4-5 good ppl , try to shoot 1 guy , not a so much good fighter and they dont hit him or it needs 10 minutes .

i will say it so , the quality of fights extremely diminished .

the only point why i think to take a break or to go , is always this lag here . Sad

please give me answer , can we become better , is it possible to become better ?

i dont understand .

Greetings People,

While I am new here I am a veteran of other nameless Freelancer servers.

Anyway to the point... Lag is a product of hundreds of different factors of which a high ping rate is only 1.... You will be surprised to know that at 600 ping someone can play Freelancer happily Smile

except when they go into alot of Peps and NPCs....Oh and if there is alot of People and NPCs in the same fight....all will get lag.....

You will also happy to know that you can do some stuff to lower your lag... of which I will list here...

1.- Turn off all internet apps...including auto virus/spy/spam updates

2.- Look at your firewall..if you have a software firewall it may pay to turn it off while you are playing...(I know...not good but *shrugs*)

3.- Defrag your HDD

4.- Clean your registry

5.- Lower your ingame graphics for Freelancer

Turning down the graphics wont help you if you have a graphics card any newer than a geforce 2 mx and a cpu faster than 800mhz..that configuration can handle freelancer on high at 1024x768 like childsplay.

Ping as in the time it takes a packet to leave your machine, reach the server and be sent back is a factor in ALL online multiplayer games...however it is not the only cruicial thing..putting ping times into perspective is this;

<50 = brilliant, your brain will be utterly unable to detect any delay in your weapon firing etc etc

50-100 = good, the longest delay you should encounter is 1/10th of a second and considering at it takes longer than that for your brain to recieve, process and respond to visual stimulus by sending commands to your fingers you should have no problems at all.

100-200 = not so good, you're now getting into the realm of percievable latency between your actions and the desired effect in game, however the latency is still low enough to compensate for in most games except fast paced first person shooters.

200-300 = bad, if you suffer a ping time like this playing against someone with a brilliant or good ping time is a total waste of your time. It's playable but requires a lot of compensatory action on your part to have a good gaming experience..fps games are unplayable at this point.

300+ = awful, you may as well not bother since the delay in your responses likely means that whatever you responded to happened already and your response had no effect. With latency like this even having a text based conversation is taxing.

Now aside from ping times the other cruicial factor in a good online gaming experience is having a reliable connection. Freelancer sends and recieves upto 60 packets of data per second, if too many of those packets get lost or "dropped" on the way between you and the server your gaming experience will be vastly affected, unfortunetly there is often very little you as an individual can do about this..tweaking your internet send and recieve buffers may help but not if the loss is caused by one of the "hops" on your route to the server..try running a traceroute to the server ip and look for any high responses or any * symbols.

You can also ask online server staff members to check your connection for you, although they may be too busy so don't be offended if they do not answer right away.

Lastly server load. if your ping is 50 and server load is 50 then your latency is 100. We do our best to keep server load as low as possible but unfortunetly there are times when this cannot be achieved. Contributory factors to high server load include;

Players connecting with high latency
Players connecting with no mod
Players sitting in space in large groups fighting or talking
Players fighting large numbers of NPCs
Players attempting to cheat
Players downloading while playing on the server
Unpredicted events on the server such as automatic downloads of windows updates.

Hope that clears some of this up for you

ASHTA - yes ! I feel the same

I cannot shoot torps during fights because it shoots in a huge delay from
where I shoot it originally and I never live to see it through cause if I
want to see the torp shooting I need to stay at the same place for about 10 + seconds ( IN a FIGHT )
and then I get my ass kicked Razz

was this always like that?
and are there many ppl who have been experiencing just like me in this server for a long time no?
Im not a good factor for "LONG TIME" cause I just started playing

oh and
Tallonz - Im amazed how I did all those stuff before posting in this forum Razz

Seems that you have some issues with your own set up, because the server wouldnt be as busy as it is, if what your experienceing is the norm.

Well, maybe its nothing best, but for Freelancer game its ok. Or isn't?

and gave my better results
as in
1286 kbps which means 160.75 kBps download speed
and got 104 kbps which means 13 kBps which is better then the other speed test site
via lublin
got worse results at london, still same upload
and in moskow I got same dl as ul XD Razz

BUT comon... the other speed test is probably more related to where THE VOID is phisically placed at, the server that is

since I suppose thats the case, it represents better my latency and dis-lag that I have with the server Razz
