I'm calling all vista users to contribute to the Vista knowledgebase on the thread below. Its imperative that we use all the experience, tips, workarounds that players have to build this for the new players running vista. Please help us to grow the community by adding your own tips and advice as well as helping those who have had problems and posting in the forums.

Occasionally Freelancer goes crackers and a reinstall is needed. I have had to do this personally. Most people believe that uninstalling Freelancer and doing a reinstall will do the trick. I hope it does for you but If you are one of the unlucky ones here is a step by step to get you up and running in less than half an hour.
Now after reinstalling your freelancer, in step 12 copy the entire FL folder and keep it unmodded. If you encounter problems in the future just delete the old freelancer Folder and rename your copy.
Caution=== This guide takes you into the registry if in doubt don't do it.
This guide also has frequent restarts, Please do not cut corners by not restarting your machine when instructed.
View and write down your FL Multiplayer number. Go into C/ ( if that is where you installed freelancer) program files/microsoft games/freelancer/in the exe folder you will see myflaccountid click on that.
Step by step.
1 uninstall freelancer
2. uninstall mod maganger
3. restart your PC
4 open any folder go to organise> folder and search options> select the view tab and click on show hidden files and folders. click apply.
5. go into c/documents and settings/ users/yourname/local/ and delete the freelancer folder.
6. go into my Documents/ games and delete the freelancer folder.
7 go to start then run and type regedit.
7a If run isnt on your start menu simply right click near ( not on) the nice picture and select properties.Go to the start menu tab and click customise. go near the bottom and click the run box.
8 press F3 type freelancer and delete the entry it shows.be sure it says freelancer in the text shown. DO NOT delete anything Freelancer unrelated.
9. press F3 and delete all freelancer entries until the message finished searching through registry is shown
10 follow step 8 but type in FLMM
11. restart your PC
12. install freelancer
13 restart your PC
14 install mod manager
15 restart your PC
16 install the mod
17 open any folder go to organise> folder and search options> select the view tab and click on hide hidden files and folders. click apply.
When you start FL Ignore the graphics card warning if any and tick do not show again.
When you select mulitplayer check that the ID is the same as the one written down. If not simply type the original number in.
