begging money

i am sorry to have to post this but we need the old admin note to come thru chat about dont beg money from players again.

now dont get me wrong i dont mind helping out new players, heck i get atleast 2 players a week out of omega 6. and have help hundreds of new player find a good ship or trade run. and have spent countless hour helping them chart and find jump holes bases and such.

but just because i am lev 90 does not mean i am a bank for every new player that joins. i have other clans ask for money i have had rogues and pirates ask my navy char for money to set up ships. i will tell them were to make money but i dont give money away to other players.

after all its not that hard i have an ironman char that i have 25 hour on and have 50 mil and i fly a anubis mk2. i did that with out even being able to make trade runs and had to loot the guns so you cant tell me you cant make the 20 to 25 mil to set a good ship with top wep and armor in about 2 to 3 hours.

any way it is alittle annoying to get greened 3 to 5 times a night " hi, can i have a few hundred thousand to set up my ship?" i dont want to be a jerk and i will help but not money. anyway i am done admin please put the post back up in system chat thank you.

why higher lvl ppl should help the new guys?

i know what u mean i sometimes also have green call but i give them 1 million so what maybe one day theygive it back.

i giving money to newbies coz i also was asking money when i was first day here.

When there are not veterans or VOID&ADMIN  in NY, and I am  doing nothing, I sit in NY and help some players with my special char that have all systems and bases data and it is level 24 , As I am low level they dont ask me for money. The problem is that some of them dont take me seriously because I am in a dagger and I am low level

Generally we do not advise the giving of money to low level players.

Staff never give more than 50k and only then when it's an absolute beginner with no other chars, and we prefer to point out an easy trade route instead.

The reasons for this are pretty simple;

1: If you give a low level player money you can potentially push them over level 20 and make them a legitimate target for pirates, rogues and pkers before they are ready to face such things.

2: You rob them of the satisfaction of having made it to the top levels by themselves and by their own efforts

3: You set a precidence for being someone willing to give out money when asked meaning some unscrupilous people will make new chars, seek you out and ask for money again.

What we recommend you do if you wish to help new players is;

1: Tell them or show them an easy trade route

2: Form a group with them and help them do a few missions

3: Escort them on a couple of trade runs to protect them from hostile npcs who do not care what level they are

4: Direct them to where to buy the Triceratops and what to do with it when they have it

This way you can give a leg up to those who need it without spoiling their gameplay or making yourself a target for beggers

kahless that is exactly what i do, i know the drill i am a old void player and i dont mean i started in the last 6 months. been here over 2 years so i know the drill.

helping other players is somthing every kba player will do, we all want to be know as the clan that helps.

i just would like to see the admin message that once ran that said dont beg money. we did have one on the old mod, the funny thing is that most of the players now dont even know about it because they have not been here that long, but we did have one along with the pirate warning for new players.

oh and also some of this so called "new players" are some of our  less honest old players trying to get free money. i know this because we have caught them at it and never let on we knew. when that happens we talk to them like a noob just to realy get under their skin .

I don't get these people who begg. I've had it myself. There is no need for anyone to beg. Money is something that is probably a bit to easy to get in fl and void.
It took me just over 3 days worth of gameplay on void to build up two chars with anubis mk2's, heavy weaps and sheilds etc... Both are lvl 49 and 60 respectivly and I have a combined bank of well over 30 mill.
Now that was with the setbacks of losing a full ship's worth of top notch equipment and deleting a char to correct my tag spelling.
I was totaly new to void and still acomplished this with no help. Didn't even get startup money from AoF. Didn't ask for it. Didn't need it. I just explored and figured out the void better. That part was the biggest fun of all.
I already do as stated above. Offer escorts. Offer to team up for missions. Point out good sectors for hunting or good trade runs.
The only thing I've done that people may not agree with is I gave some people some of the spare nomad equipment that I had captured. Only if they had the ship for it though and every time, I offered, no one who asked got any. No great loss as I get it for free anyway.

Edit:- Point is it's not wrong to help people. It's wrong to go cap in hand and put on a sympathy act in the hope of scoring free credits.

On a slightly different tack, please dont give out much money. Players dont explore or trade if you give them buckets of cash, they just go buy a good ship then come back and cause problems, because they dont care.

Helping a little is ok, but giving multiple 1000's of credits is just wrong. There really is no point in having a trading side of the game if they can pull cash from a few people and get to level 30 in 15 mins on the back of a sympathy call, go get a bribe and get some nice uber weps and ships in a few mins.

Unfortunately or fortunately for me in the past, I always started with the server cash and worked up, I never begged..so I dont have much sympathy for these players tbh.

A final point, you rarely find a problem attitude player who has worked his way up. 99/100 its the ones who get their cash/weps/ship/guns without trying that turn into trouble causers.

thats a good ideal because ever since I became level 90 people say can i borrow some money... so i would usually let them  then see how good they are ,then try to recurit them but ill let them reach that point there self now then see how good they are

Well, i've helped a few people before. But ever since I haven;t been able to get in game... for some months now, I really don't know whats going on.
Anyways I see what your getting at and I think it would be a good idea.
I've never been lvl 90, not even lvl 70 ^^ So, I guess wouldn';t get spamed as much, but i have gotten it from new players, especially when i hung out in my FAQ Char.

Every player should start in Sparta with 100 million credits, with their choice of an Annubis, TC or Robots HF.  All lvl 10 equipment (including Codename guns), enhancers and such availible right there at Abandoned City.  All map info provided at start-up.  Green with every faction, including Nomads.

Beggars should be shot.  Propped-up, shot again.  Burried in a septic field.  Dug-up, shot again.  Burned.  Forced to watch Pauley Shore movies.  Shot once more.  Chopped-up and fed to rabid, pus-filled squirrels.  And yes, the squirrels shot too.

thanks strail that was all i wanted was the message put back on the server.

on a side note how many players of high level get this. first a nice "lo or hello"
followed by  "how much money do you have?" or "how much to make level 90?"

my answer "1billion 100 million you can do it in like 3 months just work at it."
that is usaly when i get the can i borrow some cash question. i had one guy ask for 25 million he said you have plenty wont hurt you to share.

the thing is i have over 1.9 billion on my main char and i have 3 other decked out ship also with good money on them. do i need all the money no, but it is a nice feeling to look at my ship list and know i did all that with out help. i earned it my self and i am not going to piss it away. there is a famous quote in our country at least, "a fool and his money will soon be parted." well i am not a fool so it aint leaving my hands unless one of my clan mates get into trouble and needs a loan then that is a totaly diferrent story.
