Nothing is working for me...  as far as I can tell it's freqin' hopeless...

I've got everything to install properly, even got the mod activated after several attempts. switched all the settings to everything suggest as it pertains to administrator function and sp2 and all that junk... and tried to run freelancer.... it showed the "The Void" loading screen, then promptly crashed. ... then FL crashed after I'd deactivated the mod... had to reinstall everything... did... activated the mod after several attempts... opened FL... got the "The Void" loading screen.. .crashed.

Repeat.

Well i think thats what i used to have, because it was a problem with FLMM not actually activating the mod properly.

First thing, turn off UAC... everyone hates that. Click Start, then click on the User Image at the top-right of the start menu. Then click on Turn UAC on or off... you should know what to do after that.

Then, make sure you have FLMM v1.3 installed. Once installed, right-click the FLMM icon and click Properties. Then go to the Compatability tab and select it to run in compatability mode with Windows XP SP2. Apply thne settings and click OK.

Hope that helped. After doing all those things, i seem toplay FL fine.

Tried all that, as suggested previously in the thread.

Tried a lot of things.

Nothing worked.

well you can try manually activating the mod. Open up the mod folder (located in the FLMM folder), copy all the files/folders inside the  Void 2112 folder.

Go to C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Freelancer and paste in there, try then.

Well, actually, it would be c:\freelancer, because as suggested on this thread I installed it all outside of the program files folder...

but yes, I understand your point. I might try that tonight..  I dunno, after everything I went through I'm wary to try anything that isn't a sure-fire solution. ...

My dad has a Vista computer that he's attempting to duplicate, and then solve the problem with...

I'm not 100% enthusiastic about moving more stuff around and changing this setting and that until I know it'll actually accomplish something...

But thanks for the advice. As sardonic as I sound at the moment, I do appreciate it.

Hey guys, i am back and now i have a problem working the game with Windows Vista.

I get the connection could not be established sign when i try to connect to the void server, or any server for that matter.  I took all my firewalls off and it still did not work.

*I read the previous posts about uninstalling the antiviruses and installing AVG*
But i cant uninstall mine, because my dad would kill me.  I have got the Northern 360 Antivirus.  It cost him over £120, so i cant uninstall it.

Do you guys know any other way to get it working without changing the antiviruses?

Thanks,

HH.

I've tried everything mentioned except the turning off of the UAC. anyone have a link to the tutorial on that?

i get as far as connecting to the actual server on vista home basic. then it tells me "A connection to the server could not be established..."

It did this even before and after I did all of the things mentioned.

i set vista firewall for both program and port. I set compatability mode to XPsp2. I set FL and FLMM to run be run as admin. I turned my AV off (avast home free) and turned the firewall off. still the same message every time. I figure it has to be the UAC thing, even tho i tell it to permit FL.

Thanks in advance for the link.

BTW i dont think vista is as terrible as everyone says, when XP was pre SP1, it was also virtually useless. Also, i prefer linux and until you configure it it is also pretty weak. anyway hope to see you in space soon.

PSS... I had 2 joysticks, only one was compatible with vista. However, its the drivers that make those work, so i can only be mad at the company who made the stick.

Can't seem to get FL working too well.  I've gotten on a few times, but had FL crash back to the server screen after only 30 seconds.

I uninstalled everything, and reinstalled everything.  Turned off my UAC, Anti-virus, and firewall.  Also ran programs as "Administrator".  But now I can't even get the global servers to populate.

I uninstalled everything another time.  Read this thread on exactly what everyone else has been doing,  Reinstalled everything.  "Ran as administrator" and "compatibility w/ SP2".  Still don't have the servers populating.

Help please!  I'm running the 64bit Windows Vista Ultimate, if that means anything different.
