Re: The end
Hey guys,
as Zyos said, be patient. It is not the will of the creators, to make an 'Elite' mod for some people with high end computers. Strail is working on improvements, but this needs some time.
The last mod changes have shown the same technical problems (and the community complained loud as well). If you look on other servers or on IT projects, there are always bugs and problems with the first launches. Programs never run perfectly from day 1.
Calm down
have fun

Re: The end
Well it looks like me and the wife maybe leaving the Void as we play on other servers as well and when i activate another Mod in the mod manager they all crash unless i un-install freelancer then re-install it from the disk, and i cant keep doing that every time i want to play somewhere else.

Re: The end
Guys my pc is decent but not "out of this world".
My specs are 3800+ amd dual processor. (xp)
1G Ram.
128 mb video card.
160gig HD
My load time is 2 mins max, and it runs smooth as a babies bum. I've never renamed files or anything similar. All i did was deactivate the old mod, uninstall FL and install everything from new and then replaced the exe. file with the void 2115d.
What I'm tryin to get at is that I know buggerall about computers and I aint even got a great games machine, but it works fine. So I'm sure that this is a problem that can and will be fixed.
Do you really think that it was anybodies wish to drive players away, the aim is to keep Freelancer alive not kill it. Be patient and it will be fixed, it might just take a little bit longer than you want.
Cheers , Savage.

Re: The end
Here's a few suggestions:
1. If you're running XP and only have 512 megs of RAM, you should seriously consider upgrading. RAM isn't that expensive and 512 simply isn't enough to run anything these days. I can't imagine running less than a gig.
2. Shut down unnecessary programs. In XP, press CTRL ALT DEL to bring up your task manager. Hit the Processes tab at the top. On the right you'll see the memory usage of each program loaded. Keep your essentials up, kill the rest. Be careful, research the programs you have up. Shut the wrong one down and you could crash your system. May take an hour to get it right, but you'll get it and you'll see your speed boost.
3. Clean your registry. Installs, Uninstalls, Temps, all of that business leaves a cluttered registry. There are some free ones available (Such as CCleaner) that will kill temp files and clean the registry up. You'll notice an immediate improvement in the speed of your rig.
4. Consider your drives. Some of you may not know how to work on computers, but think about this. If you're running 2 Hard Drives on the same IDE channel (Both connected to the same ribbon cable that goes to the motherboard), you should be ok. Someone told me that your computer will run those drives at the speed of the slowest one. I'm not sure about this, but it would make sense. Never have your Hard Disk and your CD/DVD drives on the same IDE channel unless you have to. This will slow your rig down.
5. Check your HD space. Delete unnecessary files, clear out unused programs and such.
6. Lower the quality of your video settings. This won't help your loadtimes but it will affect the playability of FL.
7. Use msconfig to keep unwanted programs from loading. I don't recommend this to novice users.
Just a few ideas that have helped me in the past. If you don't understand some of what I've mentioned, find someone who does and see if they can help you out.
I'm not running a monster gaming machine but my maximum wait time to load so far has been about 8 seconds. The game runs flawlessly once it's up.
My rig:
AMD K8NS-Ultra MB
4200+ A64X2Dual Core Processor
2gigs RAM
nVidia 6800GT
This is a mid-range system and can handle FL without a problem.
