Connection issue ( avast // problem solved )

Hello everyone

I got some issues connection to Freelancer servers. Here is a list of what I've tried:

Followed this guide how to install the game: http://www.voidserver.com/modules.php?n ... ic&t=17377

1. Installed Freelancer ( without mods / patches )
2. Tried to see if I could find any server but it only says " connecting to global server " tried to refresh but it wont help.
3. Installed the Mod manager and activated the void mod and connected to the void server ( I could not see all server but when I tried to connect I got " I'm sorry, but a connection could not be established to that server. "
4. Tried to connect to any other freelancer server but I got the same error message as on 3.
5. Rebooted my computer ( now I cannot see any server in the list again )
6. Installed the quickfix 1.0C // Global Server List  - these two patches did not solve my issue
7. Tried to use the direct connect to the void server, then I can find the server again but I get the same error message as on 3.

I have reinstalled freelancer, tried to conenct with / without the void mod.

Additional information
Vista SP1
Windows firewall = disabled
UAC = disabled
Windows Defender = enabled
Avast antivirus installed on the computer ( tried disabling Avast but that didnt change anything )

Any thoguhts on what I could try next ?

No norton product have been installed on this unit apart from Norton Secutiry Scan ( that my girlfriend installed yesterday when she was playing free games from ladbrokes )
Uninstalled that this morning when I noticed it, also used norton removal tool for ghosts.

I also tried to open the port used for the void server, did not help.
Tried reseting my router / modem - same issue
I can see all the Freelancer servers now and I recive a ping from them but when I connect to them I get the that error message.

Anyone with some more suggestions ?

After hours of googling I actully found the solution.
Seems like if you have Avast! installed on your computer you need to uninstall the NetworkShield.

Go to control panel -> Add remove programs -> right click avast -> edit -> uninstall networkshield.
This solved the issue for me I can now connect.

Mentioned the fix if someone comes across with the same issues. Thanks for the help guys.
