Re: Clan clean up and Discussion
For me, it makes no difference where were at, what people are going to do. The snapshot of the forums and the clans is from yestarday, this is what I will work with to make decisions who gets server clan status removed.
Currently Im leaning toward,
Deleting those clan bases from clans who are either inactive/insufficent players to warrant and forum inactivity (either their own or the void)
Deleting the locked clan boards
Deleting those boards not used regularly in the last few months - Boards are either active or not and if the clan cant be bothered to use them, then its best not to have them. The odd post here and there isnt enough imo.
I see the hierachy this way:
Void server clan >
Has clan base or is due a clan base in next update
Has an active forum presence and has a decent presence on the server of players regularly over 3 Months.
Has ship skin for players to fly in (optional)
Clan has designated structure of its organisation published and updated.
Clan has Diplomacy published of other clans on the server and updated
Clan is able to deliver either RolePlay posts and/or regular news items to the void regarding their clan. Over and above normal forum posts. (conflict reports, notable fights, promotions, medals, political stuff etc etc) maybe once every two weeks.
In return for the above, they will be able to particpate (to a degree) in their base structure and addons to it. So that they can personalise it for their clan.
Clans requesting server clan status >
Must achieve the above during the 3month presence.
If the clan is already over 3 Months old, it must achieve the above ongoing for a minimum of 1 month.
New start clans must post that they want to be recognised as a server clan and the clock ticks from there.
I'm happy to discuss each clan on an individual basis before the template is agreed as I know some will need to change what they do and some will feel that as a result of the change they are not getting what was agreed before. However, I am of the opinion that clans in general must provide more content into the website to keep some sort of status than they currently are doing.
Those who dont want to are fine to tag themselves as they want, but I do think clans in general dont provide half as much into the site as they should.
The above are my pencilled plans for the moment and somethings will undoubtedly change after more discussion.

Re: Clan clean up and Discussion
Works for me except one thing.
You will also run the risk of having a lot of tagged but unrecognized players out there, because not everyone will be willing to meet the requirements.
I say: want to wear a tag? Then you are either in your 'probation' period, or are a member of an already officially recognized clan. Keeps it clear and strict.
Just my opinion.
I would have to disagree with you on that. I say that having a recognized clan has to be a must in order to wear a clan like tag. Otherwise we will have a number of players wearing curtain tags, but not putting any effort in any policy, rules or whatever. They will however be in game wearing their not-recognized tags, causing confusion and no doubt being frowned upon by the people who did put a lot of effort in getting their clan business sorted properly.Strail wrote:Those who dont want to are fine to tag themselves as they want...

Re: Clan clean up and Discussion
Maybe, but there are also players who play together and put a tag up, they shouldnt be penalised.
Neither do I want a lot of time spent on having to deal with players and tags in-game, theres enough to do, without the moaning about a tagged player who isnt "listed" on the website.

Re: Clan clean up and Discussion
I saw in posts before it was an open server, so I think some players will be flying tagged as a group of mates Theres not much can be done about that. Freelancers tagged or otherwise can be brought into the style of play with a little work. Mav you seem to be like me, an RP nut. We can find a way I'm sure which will enhance gameplay for all.
The ones that do interact with each other and the active clans (some of which we have met by now in battle or otherwise) should follow Strails guides. A clan with a base and high forum presence is showing a little more " prestige" In the community and the server. Gives us all something to work for and bring some of that missing clan pride I've read about in other posts.
Ill start the ball rolling and start adding RAF clan news of our Void forums.

BBB and KBA last posts are 2/3 months old. Enough said.
NS last post 4 months old. Yes they have an external forum but they don't bother posting here updates of their forum. What's the point in having the clan section?
And so on...
[/quote]
We are specific and veteran clans here and dont need to post on this board, we have own. If we want tell something to all void players we doing it here, we dont SPAM thats all.

Re: Clan clean up and Discussion
Yes and this is why some clans who do not fit into what I said will be dealt with differently. The thread is a discussion so I can get some ideas. Long term clans (2yrs+) have nothing to be concerned about. Mainly because they are here and have proved that they have the staying power to continue to play on the server, so If I do something particular for them, I know there not going to be disbanded or gone after 6 months.

Re: Clan clean up and Discussion
I guess the basic message is this - if you want a clan your going to have to work for it. Im with the boss on this one. Maybe some of the "smaller" clans would consider joining with each other particularly where role plays are similar and thereby increasing numbers / activities and contributions to the web page? As well as Death and Taxes there is one other thing certain in this world and that is change. Things evolve and this will be for the better.

As almost everyone said that we are a dead clan ...The players that are still in the clan HAVE their GAME CHARACTERS. Look here : http://flstat.cryosphere.co.uk/search.p ... VoidServer

Re: Clan clean up and Discussion
Well i agree with all that has been said here and agree to all the proposals that Strail has put forward but i got a few things to add and question.
>After how much time would a review of activity of clans take place?I mean would would it be monthly or after every 2-3 months?
>If a void server official clan say has 3-4 members which is less than the required number how much time would be given for the clan to prove itself that it is active?
How many such 'lapses' can be tolerated?
>Regarding the position of guilds.I suggest that a guild too should have some "official" presence or designation in Void.
I define guilds as those organizations that have a common ideology or interests or RP and work for each other however they do not have a clan-like structure nor do they wear tags.
Examples like-
Assassins Guild,Freelancers Guild and Traders Guild.
Guilds should be just given a forum here on Void and maybe not other things like a clan base, clan ship skin etc.
In return they would contribute to the RP boards, news etc.
They too would have too show through maybe SS or endorsements that have more than 5 members.
I think guilds are very important and they too can contribute significantly to Void and guilds are certainly needed for RPs like assassins or traders and for representing freelancers.
There are things beyond clans.
