F1 change for Pirates/Traders
The F1 fine has been increased to 10m credits.
The reason for this increase is to stop traders F1 out and to try and restore some fairness/ real interaction in the game.
Who this does effect
Any player being taxed by Pirates (see below) or in a PvP with another player and F1's out will be auto-fined 10m credits
Who this does not effect
Any player fighting NPCs
How pirates make sure this is done
You must fire on your tax target every few secs, with a low damage gun, or ideally a CD.
In the event that the trader F1's out they are fined.
This change is done to INCREASE the interaction between players, not help you tax more. Pirates are expected to do more than type "tax - 200,000 credits". Doing this is pointless and changes will be made if it continues. Pirates are expected to interact with the player there taxing. If you cant be bothered doing this, dont be a pirate. Im hoping that this change will mean the trader feels he gets something out of being taxed, not just a lazy pirate tax situation.
What happens when I am fined for F1?
1. Your immediately deducted 10m credits.
2. Your character is killed
3. All your cargo is lost (in addition to the fine)
4. You respawn on the last base you were at
So total loss for you is 10m credits + contents of your cargo hold.
Pirates must remember that there is a limit to how much in credits you can claim from the player - 200,000 credits is max
You are allowed unlimted cargo from the player
(The max credits is to help increase interaction between players, credit taxing only is lazy and pointless)
I keep getting taxed from Pirates, what can I do?
1.Choose a different trade route
2. Ask for an escort from other players
3. Group up with other traders
4. See it as a fun opportunity to try and outwit the pirates - cat & mouse
Remember, players being pirates will enjoy the game as much as you if you dont take it personally when your taxed. See it as another aspect of the game insstead of getting upset and abusive. Pirates are much more likely to give you a hard time if you dont communicate with them or type abuse to them.
You will probably be surprised how much a pirate reacts positively to you if you deal with it positively or in a RP manner with them.

**BUMP** and a question!
What if server crashes or something else, it says sometimes you F1 out when you were PVPing.
on all chars except my SYN nomad one i got less as 10 mill so ill lose all if this happens. something can be done about this?

Re: F1 change for Pirates/Traders
If the server crashes you cant be fined, because the server has crashed - so, thats easy enough
Yes you will lose all your money
...And yes, I want pirates to have more interaction out of the situation than be lazy, typing "tax - 200,000". Which tbh is pointless and a waste of time.

Re: F1 change for Pirates/Traders
I hope you dont mind but i have a few questions...
If a trader banks cash after every run and only leaves 1 mill on their char, will the fine be 1 mill or 1 mill plus 9 mill from their bank?
If a player is unfortunate to have a dodgy ISP, does the server distinguish between hitting the F1 button and the ISP loosing connection?
If a player is in the process of getting taxed and they get booted for server lag, will the fine still stand?
If a Frieghter dies and looses its cargo, does it still loose bats, bots, mines and missiles?
Lastly...
If a pirate knows that the F1 has been upped to 10 mill and the dying Frieghter will drop cargo plus ammo, are there provisions in place to stop Pirates just killing a Frieghter for a profit without any interaction whatsoever?
Sorry for so many questions :(

From my own experiences, I can answer some....
If a player is unfortunate to have a dodgy ISP, does the server distinguish between hitting the F1 button and the ISP loosing connection?
As far as I know, it doesn't
If a player is in the process of getting taxed and they get booted for server lag, will the fine still stand?
If someone is in a pvp and is disconnected by the server while in a fight, it will register as an F1'ing and the fine will occur.
If a Frieghter dies and looses its cargo, does it still loose bats, bots, mines and missiles?
Yes.

No, there aren't, it depends completely on the player to be responsible and actually follow the RP of the tag they wear...

Re: F1 change for Pirates/Traders
OK I have concentrated on trading and exploring. I have never paid a tax or F1 out of a fight. The worst that can happen if I refuse a tax is they destroy me then I respawn and start over No problem. What is the point if you are going to F1?I have half my fun interacting with the guys trying to escape or trying to kill them before they kill me. So what if my frag counts says 100 deaths 1 kill. I got as much of a thrill out of the losses as I did the wins. Everyone this is a game any player can be killed on any day,.All it takes is a little luckand a sharp eye.IF you lose respawn do a little more practice then go get even.

Re: F1 change for Pirates/Traders
Working on my reps, I have noticed that even I was only fighting NPC's and there were no other players in my area who could have locked on to me, I was fined 10m credits for F1-ing. This has happened to me a couple of times before the last few days. The annoying thing is I lose all my torps, which are not sold at the Nomad bases I launch from. At first I though I was maybe F1 out and back in again too fast, but now it seems not. When I have killed the NPC, I always wait a few seconds - most of the time until the hostile music has died out - before I F1 out and back in again. It has happened a couple of times that when I do this, and there is not a single NPC in sight, I get fined the F1 fine of 10m and lose all of my torps.Strail wrote:Who this does not effect - Any player fighting NPC
Am I doing something wrong here? Fighting NPC is starting to get quite an expensive hobby lol...

Re: F1 change for Pirates/Traders
Don´t see the point of using F1 at any time...
I accidently bumped a candle standing next to keyboard. It fell to the wooden floor and kept burning. I stomped it out with my socked foot, set the course for Crete, docked and THEN cleaned up the mess. Hell..can´t leave my precious ship floating in suspended animation. Would hurt my selfdeceit/imagination that says that I´m actually flying in this far out para-universe we call the VOID!

F1'ing was never really the problem, its just no one is willing to pay full stop. Would rather just die...

This leads me to believe that the fine is NOT implemented if not fired upon every couple of seconds.
Therefore, a lazy-ass pirate just shouting TAX in-system and not actively keeping you in his los ,will not invoke this penalty. Correct?
I personally try to bargain my way into some advantage for me, while dealing with a 200k tax (that I prefer to think of as a 'deal').
System access for the rest of the day, rest of the night or even protection from other X's in the system.
Sometimes after scanning the pirate I additionally try to buy equipement from them. A deal (read: tax) could be beneficient for both players this way.
To me a taxing pirate with no specialties onboard is a hopeless loser, capable of sailing his ship while being stupid enough to not put up an extra sail for expanding possibilities.

Re: F1 change for Pirates/Traders
The 200k limit was put in to stop pirates asking stupid amounts of money and encourage them to play a pirate with some degree of gameplay rather than be lazy and type "tax". limiting to 200k was to ensure that pirates pulled cargo from the trader, rather than just credits.
Traders not even paying the 200k is part of the problem also it seems.

Re: F1 change for Pirates/Traders
I don't see why everyone puts emphasis on traders.
What's wrong with taxing fighters? I frequently do it whenever I have a pirate char set up.
