Re: Teaser
Greaver, I'll always respect your opinions and even more how you express them. For me, anyway, there is no offense. You have all very good points. I did not consider the diminishing player base. It will have an effect.
But as Mav says, if it's not tried it'll never work. I'm with Asmo... let 'er rip and see what happens. Your worst enemy will be apathy. But if you can generate mopre interest than there was for the Reavers, then you will do fine. This can do nothing but good for the server.

Re: Teaser
I can see your point guys don't get me wrong and watch, you know you will always have my respect mate
.
if your intentions are to play fair and promote fair play with honor and skill, then I wouldn't mind helping out. Although I will need to make sure that the RP about the rock etc and the skill of fighters IS the same as the old ways of the saint. Obviously with not the big elitist ways but it wouldn't be right to have people with no sense of direction in the clan.
I like helping people out, and if you can assure me you want it to go this way then I will surely make my presence felt for the clan. But its your call guys.
Greaver.

Re: Teaser
Sigh
What do I think asks Mav.....
I think its a bygone product from a bygone age, a page of voids history that made good reading the first time around, the second time not so good the 3rd time boring 4th time no ones interested.
Greavers got it spot on it was it elitismn that made it work, but also killed it off. The members were fiercley proud to be in it just for the fact that if you got in it, you were thought of as one of the best on the server. But you also have to remember that it was a different void then, it was conqs and anubis's it was brawlers it was no missile spamming.
See the thing is mav, your gonna find yourself in a very small group, trapped in sparta by your own RP, tagging yourself as ELITE's meaning every man and his dog is gonna want to wipe the floor with you, gangraped and spammed to death by 10+ most nights without enough members with the skill to fight them off ( no offence to anyone ). Its only fun for so long m8. It gets boring fast when your cms go from 120 to nothing in 20 seconds and your wasp'd so hard you cant move.
Saint RP means you cannot retreat, you cannot move, you must keep that rock clear so youll end up missile raped to death each time you launch. Tying to kill the lagging spamming vipers and wa1's will be enough to test the patience of not just a saint but a god, youll get fed up, just like I would, and soon there would be another post here about leaving a clan and more jibes at you for not sticking with something.
So m8 to sum up
Saints is a chapter of voids past
Voids players attitudes have changed too much
Voids way of fighting has changed too much
Too many good guys have gone.
Thats what I think Mav m8.
Sorry its negative but before I wrote this I asked myself could I make it work again.
The answer to that my friend was no.
Take care m8
E
PS sorry for any typos but its 5 am.

Re: Teaser
Agree Ent when he says:
Voids players attitudes have changed too much
Voids way of fighting has changed too much
But History is what we made so we cant change the past but we always can make another one, and about players gone, well, that doesnt mean that others good guys could come.
I dont really think that Saint could be the same as the were in the past, Ent is right in my opinion, but they can adapt to the new times.
Maybe you can start with 4 or 5 members, good skills, and only being online together when battle is balanced. Like phantoms that only clean rock area with fun and when they are ganged they dissapear. It s just an idea, but there are a lot, so let Mav try, there is nothing to lose

I can. What you describe is just what I had in mind. And for the elite part: we can always make sure there are enough training sessions to boost the average skill level to a level suitable for the Saints.
Thanks for offering your help m8, appreciate it.
By the way thanks to all for being so supportive.

Re: Teaser
Just to make sure you don't think nothing is happening: :D
Since I am really busy, work on the clan in the sense of a decent backstory and such, starts next Sunday. I will also make my first Saint char then, so hopefully you will see a couple of Saint tags flying about soon after.
General question for anyone who knows the answer:
How did 'The Holy Rock' become a holy place for the Saints? Was it just made up or did the first Saint clan really had a RP backstory explaining that? Can't find anything about it.

Re: Teaser
While i dont think this will be successful and will turn out to be a failure within months,it is Mav's choice and i agree with what he said -
If you dont try how will you ever know?
Go ahead Mav and prove me wrong and all the others here.

Re: Teaser
Mav
It was just kinda made up one day, instead of just killing everything we started the rock thing off giving people the chioce to either move along or engage us.
The rock has a 500m exclustion zone around it giving ample distance for people who do not want to engage in combat a clear route in and out of sparta.
Friends of the clan were allowed to sit on that rock, and we kinda made it a smoking place where if u wanted a rest you could smoke under the protection of your friends and clan m8s guns.
No enemy clan was allowed to park there.
Ever.
After so much blood had been spilt there it kinda became nicknamed the holy rock in honour of the dead.

Re: Teaser
@Trance: That's good to hear m8. I'm counting on some of them in a while.
@Watchwolf: Thanks bro. I will. Just not much time atm. Work starts next Sunday and will progress after that.
@Ent: Thanks m8 - clear as crystal, appreciated. One clarification needed though:
P.S.: If you have the time and if you want to, I would appreciate it if you could send me a pm with any information you think is essential for me to know. I do think I'm pretty will informed already, but we wanna do a good job here right.

Can I conclude from this that the original Saints leaned more towards evil than law?Ent wrote:instead of just killing everything

Re: Teaser
They were neutral at the start but slipped to the dark side as the navy got more and more numerous and the ganks more regular and it was obvious that alliences had to be made. Although they were always secret, never posted anywhere.
As the way of fighting changed and the feel of the void so did Saint, until it almost became totally evil, due to the action of the navy forces on void.
As it declined system raids became unviable as shutting down a system takes a good 8 memmbers, and Saint was left trying to hold the rock against the swarms of heathens and unwashed.
To start your first job will be to gain back that rock and the 500m around it. That is going to be a massive task, you only have to look in sparta in the evening to see why. Once you have the members to take that rock back, AND hold it you can look towards kicking off your Sytem raids again.
A saint sytem raid always started with an announcment every 30 seconds in system chat.
"This is a Saint system raid you have 2 mins to run, dock or you die"
Then they would fly through destroy anything not docked, wipe it clean, then return home for the counter attack.
Saint was known for its utter ruthlessnes in system raids, you got in its way, it didnt matter what ship, what lvl 20+ you were dead pleas of mercy went ignored its was just a Freelancer steamroller hitting one system a day.
The key to success here will be your secret alliences, you must pick clans that are active alot, and can put out fighters at anytime, who will fight for you and for your rock and are not afraid of a scrap for hours on end, because thats what its going to take.
Your going to have to push the navy clans off sparta dock before you can do anything.

Re: Teaser
=D> Thank you m8. That is very helpful indeed. I will make sure I will use that as good as is possible in the present environment.
Btw: An 'adjustable' RP huh? How handy indeed. Especially in these times. I'm starting to get ideas here.
Thanks m8. If you think of anything, my PM box (or this thread - whichever you prefer) is always open. Afterall, you were the one thinking this all up.
