SERVER CRASHES

Certain players logging in this morning are causing the server to crash.  At present I am gathering information regarding this.

PLEASE if you do something and the server crashes let us know immediately.  Please do NOT keep trying to connect.

This happens since yesterday morning or even earlier. It's not the player, it's the server (in my opinion).
And this is not the first time that this happens. I remember a few times before that server crashed after 1-2-3 chars logged in. No matter what char. I think we'll have to have a bit of patience until Admins fix it. What about a call to Strail?

Yesterday it happened 4-5 times, when only 5-6 ppl was online.
Just doing missions, and it crashed.Before crashes, i noticed img framing/blocking at 36 ping(dunnow if its relevant)without any Pc caused problem.Hope it will be better.

Aye I've noticed similar but it's stable without certain people trying to come online.  As soon as they do on a particular character the server dies.  If they come online on another char it's fine, switch and it dies, and so on.

Perhaps it's a symptom rather than a cause, so to speak.

AlphaWolf is right, it seems that my -=REAVERS=-Seeker char crashes the server, however Cloud char works fine, dunno why it happens, yesterday i have flown both on the server and everything was just fine.

yeah i have been trying to help Wolf out with this but something just isn't right, it could be server issues or corrupt player files, so many vairables... this could take some time.

I have noticed that the crashes are sometimes quick often and then sometimes with large spaces of time until another crash, though i have been monitoring the server for a bit now and no crashes seem to have taken place.

I have now notice that as i was on the server... no problems until someone switched character... i may believe that, maybe it's not when a certain person comes onto The Void but when anyone could come onto The Void... i was just talking to Matyi, and he switched chars from his BS to his Fighter and then server crashed... there were 6 players [including me] maybe there is an issue with the amount of players like mentioned above... i seem to see that every time there is a new player or switch of character when the server has at least 5 to 6 players, it crashes.

I have now found out that, accepting a mission, trading and even fighting another person or npc(s) can make the server crash, also that this time for the server to crash, we had 7 people one more logged on and it crashed. I shall continue my investigation.

player files corruption is not an option - see how many players must have 'played' with the files... and im not the one who have. yesterday everything seemd fine, i have played at about 11-13:00 at gmt +1, pvped, switched chars many times, nothing happened. Some issues could have emerged later on, in the evening. I have played my Seeker char lots of times... and i haven't done any changes to my Windows account, or game files.

Well it seems it might be down to the files as people seem to buy bribes and get kicked, get missions and then get kicked and so on, my advice is to just not fight, take missions, bribe and so on.

Cloud, just to explain, corruption refers to the serverside player files not local on the player's machine.

It could be an issue with something on the server corrupting the files but it's all speculation right now.  Until Vector-X is on all we can do is observe and give as much information to help resolve when he's here.

Yeah agreed with wolf there, i have been on that server for about what 5+ hours finding new things out information to help out with what ever could be the problem.

In my experience it would appear that the server needs to be rebooted... a cold start.  I assume it's a windows server platform and as a result... will drop connections when a portion of memory becomes corrupt.  It could be hardware, could be software, either way it's not going to fix itself... good luck admins.  it crashed at the same time as I have docked at stations, and move money to bank, as well as just while chatting...

Thank you for your information about when it crashes, we need more information like that coming in so we can target the problem, as for the reboot i don't think it is neccessary, it could waste valuable time, but if the admins decide to do so then we can only wait and see if it gets any better.
