Need Help With Mod Manager

Post by CaSiMuS »

Hello all,

Firstly sorry if im a little behind I havent had a PC since around 2005, I am trying to get back to playing Freelancer and this server looks good but I am having problems.

When I try to install the mod manager it asks me what program to open it with, I have tried searching the net without success.

Can you help please?

Ok ive managed to get the mod manager working and ive installed the mod as directed but it came up with the following error text;

Error: problem activating 'The Void:2115 v9'
Error: SHCopyFile failed ('C:\Program Files (x86)\Freelancer Mod Manager\mods\Void2115v9.zip\EXE\Freelancer.exe' to 'C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games\Freelancer\EXE\Freelancer.exe')
Error: problem activating 'The Void:2115 v9'
Error: SHCopyFile failed ('C:\Program Files (x86)\Freelancer Mod Manager\mods\Void2115v9.zip\EXE\Freelancer.exe' to 'C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games\Freelancer\EXE\Freelancer.exe')

Its it something to do with permissions?

Right click on FLMM icon -> run as adminstrator.

Then restore backups and re-activate, it should work. If not, post again.

Welcome to the Void.

Thanks guys I managed to get the mod installed and get onto the server, I do still have a problem though. I seem to lag really badly with a ping ranging from 300-1000 and a loss of 10+ but my internet is fine see speedtest;

Im using an N type 50mb dongle to connect, but everthing other than Void seems fine to me, can anyone help?

Hi Casimus,

Please run a traceroute to check for network issues between your computer and the server.  To do this, open a command prompt (Start -> Run -> type "cmd" and hit Enter) and type "tracert 85.14.217.82" then hit Enter.  Please take a screenshot of the results and either PM it to me or email it to void @ scififun .co .uk (without the spaces ;) ).

Thanks,

-Alpha

Hi Casimus,

The trace looks fine, no areas of concern.  There should be no reason for you to lag badly on the server according to the above.

Please let me know if this is still an issue, as I know that there have been a couple of bad spots recently relating to other issues.

Thanks,

-Alpha

Hi there,

Still having major problems, I ran another traceroute and everything looked fine, then I connect and get fluctuations of ping between 250-1200. Im finding hard to even connect now let alone do anything :-(

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance
