I voted yes because (seeing as how ima pirat), i need to get to my role. You know what they say,"pirates do it for the booty" and the best booty is cash.

My respect m8!!!
You are right, interest to game is lost.. The Role of pirates here is humiliated... We not ocean pirates what to sell a cargo. Interest to I shall enter it is lost.
Let the old rule will return. We will take the tax money, and you will protect dealers.)))
 :!:

i voted yes.....
i havent played in my pirate char for a while now...
i quite liked taxing for cargo added a bit of realism into the role, something different but unfortunately i ended up dumping most of it as it just took up space in the hold...
the main reason i voted yes is cos it just doesn't earn enough money taxing for cargo
my char cant dock in most places so i end up just dumping and shooting the items instead as i cant sell anything and if i do i get silly small amounts of money...
then i have to swap to my trader to earn some cash to transfer to my pirate so i can carry on....
ideally i would like to delete my trader so i can focus on my pirate and FALLEN chars as they are the ones i enjoy playing
would be great if my pirate could earn the money i need for torps on my fallen char....
maybe whishfull thinking on my part there but hey.... we can dream....

I voted to bring back the taxing of credits.
I think that the idea of asking for cargo was a good thought but I don't think players here are ready for such RP based action. I know alot of people RP, which is good but I think that you would find that most peoples pirate char is green with alot of factions, when if they were truly playing rp they should mostly be red. Makes it easier to dock and to buy weps. I too am guilty of this.
I feel that pirates should be allowed to ask for up to 3million off of traders.( this would be based on current Lvl as mentioned in other posts.) Some people will complain that 3million is too much. I can make 10million profit in 25 mins and my trade route prob is not the best out there. and you will find that the ones who moan about it being too high are the ones sitting at lvl 70 or higher with around 100 million in the bank!!!!!
Traders should be scared to trade and if they feel they are in danger then they should be paying for mercs to help, or requesting help from the navy. Navy should patrol pirate hot-spots and pirates should run scared of navy.If a trader thinks he could lose 1,2 or even 3 million in tax then they should be willing to pay for protection. This is what I would call really good rp.
Traders have had it FAR TOO EASY. It should be far harder than it is too make their millions.
Make pirating more profitable and you will see a new force of pirates rise from the ashes. Gives the navy somethin to do and traders somethin to fear.
I know I have went on a bit but I believe this could go a long way to bringing good RP back to the void and also more active pirates.
Anyways cheers for taking the time read my thoughts, Voodoo - sorry for being so serious, must be because I'm sober

I definitly voted yes to this, the cargo tax was a little bit too much work for pirates, most have their normal chars then they have a pirate char to let loose and be obnoxious and mean and in a way way more free with less work, with the new cargo tax they have to go through the hassle of locating the most profitable planet and second, most traders go thorough Alexandria where the admins don't like the fighting as stated in the rules so it gets boring and more work then it should, but traders have no fear (with the exception of DTA) of losing credits and getting killed if they don't have it. The credit tax should be reinstated so that the rogue population goes down, the pirates go back up and people in general have more fun in the void. Thiere is quite a bit of support so far as I see it and the A-team should reconsider this tax rule and make it the way it was originally.
P.S. If you actually read this far, HAVE A COOKIE!

Im glad i got such a positive reply about this. As this is the way i think we can get a little more activety and bring some good RP coming into the void.
Everyone has made valid points and i hope the admins help us
See you in space.

I like Greavers approach to this and RPG making you go and buy stuff for them, sounds like proper piracey to me. If the BRO can bring about an "honourable" change in the way that traders are taxed for their hard earned cash - no problem. The "no cash tax" rule has helped a hopeless PvP'r like me start to get some finance behind him in order to bulk up my characters - it has also helped with AoF finances. I have to say that whilst the majority of [x] tags just acted as rogues, not being bothered to ask for cargo, it did make getting around a little easier. My concern is that you will be faced again with the problem of traders choosing to die rather than part with their cash. Not much fun for either of you when he just sits there and lets you blast him into little bits for the 3rd time. If the RP works and as BRO have said, once you have paid the tax in that system to BRO, you get their protection whilst traveling to the gate. There is nothing worse than being confronted with three requests for 1 million tax all in the space of three minutes within the same system. Then again, thats space for you. It's a dangerous place, one way or another. If I'm in the lucky position of carrying vast quantities of cash, then I'll pay up in order to achieve my destination or goal. If it makes no sense to me to pay - I'll just take the torp up the dark place and try again.....! 8)
