What's wrong with trekkies?

It is true that star trek has inspired many many things.

Mobile phones were invented because of the hand held communicators used in star trek.

Automatic doors (the ones that open when you approach them) inspired by the doors aboard the enterprise (even though on the enterprise it was two stage hands with a rack and pulley system doing the work lol)

Trek was the first program to feature a woman in a position of authority within a military organisation (Uhura)

Trek was the first program to feature a black person in a position of authority (again Uhura)

Trek was the first program to feature and "inter-racial" kiss (Uhura and Kirk)

Several projects are underway right now to produce tricorder like devices for medical purposes.

And on top of all that it's a "feel good about being human" show

Kahless hit the bull's eye with all that info.

It did clear a lot of my miscinceptions.
One thing i noticed was that whoever made an earlier invention better was the one who was credited with inventing it.
