Freelancer - The Void

OK - please be more specific - are these just bans by me or are they the total number of bans by all the VOID Guardians?
Please list them over the last 2 months if you will.  You are being evasive....

No, I don't think he'll be coming back.

In fact, I think I'm going to do all I can to make sure of it. Too many times I've called my dad up to chat and when the theme of the conversation turned towards games and online gaming the tone got way to dark, drab, and dreary as we talked about FL and the Void in general.  I don't like hearing/seeing my father upset about something he was doing for fun. He's been a whole freqin' country away from me for way too long for me to tolerate it, really.

I have been a member of quite a number of massive gaming communities over time. I've ridden through massive highs and clung desperately to dying servers/communities as well enough times to see an avalanche coming. Time to get off the mountain, so to speak. 10,000 tons of snow traveling at 60+ mph isn't something I wish to be in the way of again, and I'll be damned if I'm going to let him (my dad) stand there like a deer in the headlights.

It didn't take me but about 30 minutes online with my dad to show him the wonders of a completely different game, and with its sequel coming out in apprx. 2 weeks I don't think I'll have much problems keeping him otherwise occupied. On top of that there's quite a stack of games that HE'S getting ME into, so it's not like our gaming time is going to be wide open or unoccupied.

So, will he be coming back? Not if I've got much to say about it, and seeing as I'm the one who got him into playing video/computer games in the first place, I figure I've got quite a bit to say about it.  I'm not going to sit back and watch my dad develop a flippin' ulcer over a game.

I told Rams I wasn’t going to come back to read any of this, expecting to see more of the same.  I said enough was enough and I don’t plan to even pop my head in where it’s not wanted anyway. I don’t like even the appearance of hypocrisy.

But he said, just have a look. So I did.

1: Zeb, forget what I said about bans. It was a knee-jerk reaction to what looked to me like yet another ban that seems over the top. I’ve posted in the [VOID] forums my differences in philosophy about how to exercise the SG responsibilities and I’m in the minority. Have a look at the “guidelines” to see what I mean. I don’t like bans, never did, never will. I prefer to deal with problems one-on-one and treat the person not the problem. Banning makes the player go away, not the problem. That’s my take on it and it’s not anyone else’s.  You’re a good friend and a great SG… destined to the Admin staff. I’m glad I recommended you for the position.

2: Admin staff, you’re going to need another SG if you want to keep the same number. I recommend Apocalypse.  You couldn’t do better.

3: Strail, your post is right on. Respect for reaching out to retake control of the forums and return the Void to its proper place as a respectful and mature server.  You’ve got a lot of dedicated people helping you out here. And a terrific player base who care. The Void will soon be ready for a return to the “glory” days I have had so many players tell me they long for again.

4: Blazin’, Your post is spot on too. Sorry if you take me as one toward whom your post is targeted but I’ve always been a little different, a little outside the box, to use the worn-out saying. And it’s obviously not a good fit. But you have the tail by the dragon and respect for staring it in the eye.

5: Rams, You’re right, I don’t need another ulcer. I have NW2, Rainbow 6-LV 1 & 2, CoD4, Turning Point: Fall of Liberty, World in Conflict… all MP. And a shelf full of others I haven’t cracked yet.  I doubt any will make me “forget” the Void, it’s too deep inside my soul. But it’ll keep me occupied and my attention elsewhere.

you have heard this many times before, but i will say it again you will be missed alot by all the community!
My post wasnt at u mate so dont worry!!

I do hope life treats you and your family good, please do come back and maybe post on here from time to time, thats if u want to that is.
