I'll admit...I'm guilty of being overly confrontational sometimes.  It's too easy to condemn people without taking a step back first, taking time to learn more about the situation as a whole rather than making snap judgments...especially on the Void, where you only see what people choose to type.  For one reason or another, they might leave out the whole story, possibly inadvertently...then misunderstandings arise...and we all know where that ends up.

It's really hard to figure out whether a person who makes a post that manages to really work people up is out for blood or just misunderstood.  Especially when you throw language barriers into the mix.

And it's just as hard to avoid personal attacks, or calling out another player on something when you just know the other guy deserves it.  There are players out there that...man...I would love to make a long, detailed post about exactly what I think of them for all to see...but who does that benefit?  Nobody at all.  All it can do is drive the community apart, and usually destroys the credibility of the writer.

I think that we'd solve a lot of problems if we all remember that what we post will affect our reputations in the eyes of everyone who sees it, and that in many cases, our posts on the forum will be all they have to make a judgment on our personalities or our character.

You know Zeb (Iain) I am surprised as such a intellectual adult of your Age and maturity in life can behave like this. Continuously.
With no regard as for your behavior, or your actions as you are a server guard, where do these personal problems you have
come into the game and why are they, you have already been told by strail to cease and desist from your flaming and ranting.
However it never ends. Same sour remarks, insults and misguided comments directly posted in regards to a certain player
and person you will hate for all eternity.

Honestly I personally have difficulty accepting this constant racist attitude.
Its unacceptable from anyone, especially someone in this game
who desperately tries to be respected.

Throw away comments are not helpful, particulaly when you involve religion, nationality, politics etc. and really shouldnt be made if you know your going to offend someone.

I really dont understand why people cant discuss things in a civil manner, however, I know that this is mainly due to the in-game relations (or lack of)

BTW Asmo, nice post and good to see a postive reaction from most.

@ Neutraliser:  Racsist?  Explain Please.  I am surprised that you missed the humour in the comment and if it caused any percieved racist slur then I retract it whole heartedly. It was a throw away comment that - given the nature of the posts maybe should just have been ignored.  Let me explain to you why I typed what I did.

Asmo made a comment about "fuel being added to the fire" infact he may even have used the term "wood" as in Fire Wood.  With me so far?  Do try to keep up.

Xenon I believe is from a country in Africa that is known for its culture, ancient civilisation and the beautiful Nile River - it is also known for its DESERTS.

Xenon likes to jump at the slightest comment that may paint him in a bad light - even you, Neutraliser, have acknowledged this in PMs between us - n'est pas? He likes to add fuel to the fire - and that is just my opinion. Im no firefighter when it comes to this either and am very likely just as guilty of pouring oil on troubled waters. Back to the point...

Xenon - being from Egypt and having the ability to FUEL FIRES - might go some way to explaining why there are not very many trees in Egypt - ie in the DESERT PARTS - not the fertile bits.  

I would have made a similar comment had he been from Norway but I would have said that there was no shortage of fuel in Norway to stoke fires ....  

Lets put it another way, lets put the boot on the other foot shall we?  

There once was a forest that covered most of Caledonia - now Scotland - Maybe I cut down all the trees to fuel the fires here?  Am I insulted by that - no - Im not.  This is however all about perception or the distinct LACK of it on behalf of some.  Please consider this an apology, particularly to anyone who thought that my comment was in any way motivated by racism.  I have never been nor will I ever be a racist. I am disapointed that you could think that my dislike of Xenon is motivated by his country of origin - that has nothing to do with why I dislike him.

Also,  I was NEVER told to cease or desist.  I was requested not to respond to a certain thread in that anything I might say could be misunderstood and reacted to in an irrationaly sensitive manner - much like this. Its called restraint. Something you might all want to practice rather than just preach.

Given that previous request to another subject I will do you all the honour of not replying to any further comments on this thread.

Throw away comments, whilst witty and fit for any decent stand up comedian, are a risky business here, but to call someone a racist over a comment regarding the lack of trees in a country that is mostly desert?  That is a bit much dont you think?  I got the point but then my first language is English.

Im gonna go with Wolfie and Strail on this one.  Perception in language is a tricky business. I think the point here also as Zeb has so rightly pointed out  - RESTRAINT is what is needed here - dont mistake silence from someone in authority as weakness.  Sometimes its difficult not to take a "pop" at someone just for the sake of it.
