Question for the bossman:
Working on my reps, I use the F1 function to respawn and get more hostiles to shoot after I killed them all and there is not a single NPC left in my area. I have noticed that even I am only fighting NPC's and there were no other players in my area (system even) who could have locked on to me, I am often fined 10m credits for F1-ing.  This has happened to me a couple of times now at a cost of around 50 mill. At first I though I was maybe F1-ing out and back in again too fast, but now I don't think so. When I have killed the NPC's, I always wait a few seconds - most of the time until the hostile music has died out - before I F1 out and back in again. It has happened a couple of times that when I do this, and there is not a single NPC in sight, I get fined the F1 fine of 10m and lose all of my torps.
What causes this? Am I doing something wrong or is there something wrong with the F1 penalty system? It shouldn't apply when fighting NPC's right?

Dont get me wrong though, the changes are a good thing. And it will discourage people from F1'ing out. But most of the times ive ever taxed, its very rarely ended in an F1, normally just a "yeah whatever. Kill me.". Only two people have payed me tax xD

This doesn't come as a surprise to me and i would most definitely blame this attitude due to the [R] tag
Ever since the introduction of this tag it's been going down the drain with the RP and the player numbers on the server.
But hey, fine with me!Let's all create [R] tagged chars and start shooting each other for no reasons at all...wouldn't that be a sight?
Piracy is dead thanks to the Rogue tag,you can increase the tax up to 500k or the F1 fine to 20 mills and it still won't change anything.
Given the fact that Rogue clans are forbidden on the Void why not prohibit the [R] tag aswell, therefore encouraging players to choose a Freelancer career or joining a clan resulting in more RP on the server.
Pirate clans are allowed btw but then again when was the last time you saw an active Pirate clan on the Void?
Oh yeah that's right they all have [R] tagged chars now! =D>
Go Go RP with the [R] tag!!!

edit:I have even seen Navy clan members switching from their clan tag to a [R] tagged one and navy members in the same group with rogues.
Now that's what i call playing in the spirit of RP!  =D>

* Striking a long, exhaustive and contemplating text *

KEEP IN MIND: it is still a shooter-server, not an all out RP server.

I think the only role of [R] is: they are shooters.
RP role of [R]: complete contradiction. They don't communicate, with that you cannot trade them or make deals, etc etc.

Is that why some of them can be seen flying together with the navy?
At leat if you choose to RP do it in a propper manner. (and picking the [R] tag means role-playing)

[R] flying with Navy, is not only [R] to blame, more so the Navy!

For me, players picking [R], tell me I get killed for no reason other than the shooter's fun.
Roleplaying is way beyond that imo.

But we're way offtopic here...

To be offtopic here-
I would have to agree with Burn on that, the great pirate clans of Void like Vagu no longer exist.Piracy, the more traditional and conventional one has taken a backseat with the emergence of [R]s.
First it was the DTA who put an end to piracy but banning players to form Rogue clans isnt enough as players still are just not interested in being pirates.
Maybe not allowing rogue RP for individual players could improve the situation,a test run should be made for this and then see the response.

Back to topic-This is a good move and i hope pirates(whatever still are left) take leaf out from trader's books and do some hard work for some good RP.The implementation of dynamic economy has made trading more challenging and fun and has made traders more "active". :)
But i still believe more should be done to improve the pirate RP.

That is totally wrong.

And i can tell you this from being a pirate on FL for years

The only time piracy has worked here was when the value of the cargo was so expensive that to not pay and die just wasnt an option. I was lucky enough to play here during this time.

The only time piracy has worked here was when pirate gangs Roamed about pinning traders to stations on not granting them free flight until they paid. Again I was lucky enough to play here then too.

The only time piracy has worked here was when the tag was RP'd properly so it was fun for both the trader and the pirate.
"Tax 200k" does nothing for the trader, although there is a problem typing to a player and keeping him pinned but again I refer to PIrate gangs.

There is only one pirate on the void today that RP's the tag properly.

People have been refusing tax before the R tag, people continue to refuse to pay tax with the R tag - the R tag has no bearing on piracy at all.

@geromix
To say DTA killed piracy is just a silly statement,

what killed piracy was my temper, resulting in the banning of the strongest pirate clan to fly here.
and along with that, the strong inter clan relations we had with other pirate clans. So please dont blame everything thats ever gone wrong on DTA, that just isnt fair.

The R tag gives players at least some warning they are going to get shot at, if you do away with the R then you will have freelancers jumping freelancers with ZERO warning, and the same torrent of moaning on these forums as you had before the R tag.

The only true Pirates i remember around here were you,Constantine,Becker and Raistlin.
The only time piracy has worked here was when the tag was RP'd properly so it was fun for both the trader and the pirate.
Exactly! Both the Trader and the Pirate...and this "RP relationship" was ruined with the introduction of the Rogue tag.
:-?  "Why bother to tax when i can create an R tag char and just shoot the living bejesus out of everyone without anything to worry about"?
and the same torrent of moaning on these forums as you had before the R tag.
Two and a half years ago when the Rogue tag was not here on the server there was not such a huge outspread of moans. As a matter of fact i don't remember any moans on the forum back in those days. Most of the players used to pvp in a well mannered way.
With the introduction of the R tag and the well organised DTA clan the moans saw a healthy increase in numbers.
(A lot of players were inspired by the DTA clan and many decided to create an R char.)
Dyson and Shonen were accused of lagging and cheating (along with many other);Amrod was accused of lagging (i believe that one of the DTA clan members had a Sig showing a Viper moving in replay to point out the lag) The Navy and all the "good" clans were accused of being "lazy" and only "camping" in Sparta  etc etc
The DTA were accused in-game of poor sportsemntship and called by all of their victims (mostly traders) a bunch of low life pricks  :D  resulting in frustration and later on leaving of the server.(probably a lot of PM-moans were also send to the Admins)
The in-game moans then spread on the forums...(i can't recall all the crap that has been written)
Why was the R tag created in the first place? So that Admins or Voids won't receive any more PMs about Freelancers (non-tagged) shooting other players (moaners) down? Well Bravo!! Bravo!! =D>

Apart from the fact that the R discussion is a totally off-topic subject on this thread, I don't see the logic in coming down on the RP tag which approaches the shooter character of this server the best of all tags here. By the way it's been done over and over and over, so what is the point in discussing it any further? Some players like the tag, others don't. As with all things. To each his own.

I like the changes.

Of course there would be some "specials" situations that  the F1 could be unfair, but they are very "specials" so it doesnt matter.

I think that the changes would not increase very much the pirate RP, but it would help to any evil RP, include Rogues. And not only evil, I saw pirates and rogues doing F1 while they were shooted so......

Now, if you want to log off just be sure you are not being shooted, no excuses. Play and enjoy

The problem today is not the tax level tho

The problem is a total lack of co-operation between the pirates.
People say- quite rightly that the X isnt being RP'd properly and thats because there all single pirates.

Its impossible for one pirate to talk/rp with a trader and keep him pinned without getting a face full of cruise engine.

To succesfuly trap pin and tax a trader you need 3 ships, one to talk the other two to constantly fire cds at him or One to keep the lane ring down and talk you get the drift.

The other thing I notice is if the trader mananges to get into cruise he is rarley chased and if he does again its one man who cannot possibly cut him off alone.

To gain some respect/fear from the traders you must NEVER let one get away EVER, even if it takes you all night to kill him. The trader has to know he wont get away, and next time he will think - I may as well pay otherwise these guys are gonna chase me to the end of the earth and back.

Piracy doesnt work here because pirates are the laughing stock of the server -
with the exception of one man, who shall remain nameless, and until they get thier acts together yes, pirates are finished.

I believe that Retribution has hit the nail on the head with that one...! Good comment indeed and one that those who wish to revive the lack of proper piracy here would do well to heed.  Even as individual X tags there is nothing to stop you co-operating with one another....might even be the basis for a new clan - who knows....

True! And yet again i'm going to blame this solo-player attitude on the R tag.
Before the R tag one could see many Pirates working together to pin down a Trader and strong Pirate clans existed on the server.
With the introduction of the R tag the players mentality was "manipulated" turning them into lone killers wich took it's tole on the Pirate RP as everyone preferd to be a Rogue instead of a Pirate. (like mentioned above, even navy members had a R char stored)
These players need to be "reeducated" and the only way to do that is to make the R tag disappear from this server.
