I prefer in-system, but I second Watchwolf's remark: not too close to a base.
Apart from his insiteful reason, there's also the risk of accidentally provoking a passer-by on cold coffee, instead of just aiming at mission targets.

Good question this one. Medium Value - Close to the base - say 60 clicks away. High Value - 100 to 120 clicks away with a secondary target. All in the same system please. Favourite missions were always in Babylonia with several factions to chose from for targets, a good $$$ return and some Loot to take home too.
A related question: Is there anyway to "flag" a player showing that they are "mission bound" - not that this would make them immune from attack but that it gives any predatory player the chance to decide on a course of action. Most folks on missions are either rep fixing or in it for some cash and maybe just "kicking back" for a bit?

I prefer same system but will do them in adjacent systems some times as i do them for kill count and not credits.

I take usually missions in the same system, if it is a high profit assassination mission, I would maybe go in another system as well, get elsewhere afterwards.
Once there were tough missions in Omicron Minor, up to 32 nomads, the npc had screamers and used bats/bots. These challenges I liked very much.
have fun

I'll stray from the point of this thread a sec to build on what Zeb said:
I, for one, think it bad form to attack any player who is on a mission. I will wait til he is finished and know he knows I'm there, or attack when the last of the npc's are dealt with, but never attack a player while on a mission. -=REAVERS=- have standing orders to not do this. I would wish to hear others say this as well.... but their honor is their own to keep. Or not...

i like them in the same system within 40k
furthest ive traveled prob the sparta missions that require you to drop in the worm hole and then travel thru a few trade lanes in alex altogether about 70 80 k
high profile missions would be cool like destroying battleships and heavly protected bases for great payouts x the distence

Prefer them in the same systems, but if I earn a lot more on a mission in another system I will take that.
And I agree with Gannon, missions with Battleships and highly armoured stations would be cool.

@watchwolf
From one old dog to another, if its a war target or a kos and I see it, he/shes dying mission or no mission.
After all that missions money will probably be used to attack me at a later date.
And i expect no less to be done to me, it used to be like that, many a time ive been in a mission, killed my attacker then just carried on.
The only time for me when a war target or kos is exempt, is when they are hellping a new starter, and they say so in system chat.
War is war m8.

Had not quite thought of it that way and certainly under the present circumstances its a risk you take - Im with the Wolf on this one as it does seem somewhat cheap to take a frag from someone who's full concentration is attending to some NPC's and backdooring then is, whilst not illegal, a bit of a "poor show"..... however each to their own and I have been guilty of the self same thing espcially if its someone who would probably beat me otherwise! Still - it was just a thought and not something that is realy necessary.....Thats what the Respawn buttons for I guess.
