SERVER CRASHES

A cold boot would only take a little longer than a normal server refresh...

my advise... start with the basics,

clear the caches, clear the temp files, check free hard drive space, do a scandisk and defrag, unload and reload nic drivers, copy the mod files back to the server in case some have been corrupted.  Player accounts should be fine.. they are smaller and a corruption would not crash the server outright, just that player.

Yes maybe that could work but right now we can only help out by giving information on the server crashes as possible, we can only wait till VectorX gets here to sort things out. So please be wait and try to keep yourself active until help arrives.  :D

Actually the more poeple that are logged in doing things the harder it will be to see what the issue is... I'm going to go do some housework.  I'll check back later.  It just crashed after showing it was up when I tried to log in the character Kittani. but with a dozen players doing things... coincidinces happen that could give false positives to the issue.

I understand where your coming from i have thought that also, but then again you could be right just and much as you are wrong because yes many people are doing things but the more information we get on what could be causing it, can be narrowed down and then the point of the problem is then found and hopefully solved. I might add that, there has been so little amount of people that are playing also so i think that also shows that we are finding problems that hopefully shall help out in the long run.

Either way admin will have to fix it.  I have been a network engineer for 15 years, but I can't do anything to help in this case.  Good luck, but if it is an issue associated with player activity, then the more players on the harder it will be to narrow it down.  That's troubleshooting 101... eliminate as many variables as possible and test within as much of a controlled environment as possible.  The brute force method, like you suggest, may get lucky and find it fast.  The caveat is that if anything players are doing is causing more corruption, then the issue will get far worse than it is now and take longer to fix.  Who knows.. it may even be a quick fix the admins already know about.  have fun.

I believe this is not a matter of amount of players, i was just in sparta with oxygen and no one else was on the server, the server still crashed, so it's not a matter of amount of players online but the person or people trying to get on, though the message may not come up saying that there is a new player because it's against the account rather than the character, though i am not 100% sure on this.

Well i tryed in player char 2 and it crashes after about a min could be since it shows no ping after crash a bad peice of hardware nic card or something, well i'll just have to wait and see if i can get on later Thank you for the help maybe the data gathered will show something

And i was just in sparta also, came out of the ancient city flew around almost 15 sec. and then kicked and ck'ed the server ping, none. I set in the city almost a min before coming out, unless some code has been change it sounds like a hardware problem, bad nic card, memory stick or processor problem, or even over heating, but i'm no server expert i do build computers for custermers and custom gaming systems and rework or upgrade for people.just have to wait and see.

It's no probs YellowEagle, always happy to help out and yes like you said we will just have to wait and see and hopefully the information given will be of some use. If your characters keep crashing the server, i would advise trying to maybe get onto a character that doesn't crash the server and hopefully we can find new information on this porblem.

Ok hope this helps.  Server just crashed.  I was in my TimmA char.  Docked at Tripoli.  Crached just after I went into the equipment Dealer

Has anyone gotten ahold of an admin to look into it yet?  I think it's safe to say that everyone is experiencing crashes when doing something or another.  Sounds like it's independant of anything players are actually doing and soemthing entirely with the server itself.

Kittani, please be patient we are doing our best to get VectorX here so he can deal with this, he is the only one that can deal with this, we all have to be patient and wait for VectorX to come online and deal with this.

Well... I can force crashes...

a) logging into a player with a battleship crashes...
b) switching characters without logging all the way out of the server crashes...

this is consistant and replicatable for me at least
