I have been giving this some thought and well...

Trading is just too easy.
Lets not kid ourselfs we are flyinghuge things that have no shield from place to place cause there is no danger element (except pirates but lets not get into that now). This is all made possible cause the Ai is so darn friendly and happy to see us.

Could we not make a "dangerous" run to an AI without a Home base and cant be bought? but fairly Rough? (Nomad Standards) and the Run goes through the system you buy from filled with Mean AI, Through Sparta (main pirate player hangout) and through another system (with the rough AI) and to add to the fray can we not make the commodities illegal so that the navies can try do something about it too?

Just a thought of course I just feel with Risk should come reward and it can certainly make Trading more interesting

I may be misunderstanding you a bit, but aren't trade runs all up to you? If you want to go through an enemy infested area in order to trade goods then you can. I agree that the pay off really isn't there, but the option to do so is up to you. It's also true that the npcs don't attack you often, but that depends on your rep I guess. My character is pretty much (give or take) neutral with most people because I want most trade possibilites open to me, but I'm in the red with pirates so they attack me in babylonia where I find them most. The Nomads always attack me (and most everyone else)...

Basically, it's all up to you and how you play your character... right?

Get your trader a "full green" house rep (GREEN TO HOUSE CORPS, PO'S AND NAVIES) and then trade from one capitol to another. It's not as lucrative as the Tekagi's to Madrid Alpha run is, but, it still generates over 20 mil an hour in an Armored Transport. Also, Hessians and Liberty rogues wil constantly harrass you when you are in new Berlin and new York systems. Just an idea. the danger element is up to you and depends alot on your char's reputation. You could get an evil reputation and sell diamonds to Nomads, this would be very dangerous as the Robots would most likely pwn your Armored Transport very easily, as would the Monkeys. There are many possibilites, but if you crave danger while trading, I suggest trading through Alexandria to the capitol planets with a "house rep", this will provide npc and player danger. And if you really want some adventure then put a [T] in your chars namel; [T] means "HEY, I'M A TRADER, COME TAX/SHOOT ME". This will provide the desired effect.
