Convoys

Two freighters flying together are enough to be considered a convoy. I might also point out that non-AoF traders can and should fly in convoy with the AoF. That's what we're here for. Also, seeing the success of flying with AoF might give more Freelancer traders incentive to join the Alliance.

On the subject, IMO what we need is to coordinate some of the fighters to fly escort with the traders to give them a better chance to get through the day. I often see several of our fighters and traders on at the same time but not together. IMO the fighters' first duty should be to cover the traders. I'll certainly admit not volunteering to fly CAP. Maybe sometimes the fighters are busy doing whatever they're doing and don't notice a trader coming on. So on the other hand, it probably would also be good for traders to let the fighters know they're starting their runs when they log on.

As Ambassador to A51 Clan I feel confident in stating that we would be interested in;

a) Flying in convoy with your and our traders, should we be on, tis hard to dodge the DTA or '665.7675' all of the time.
b) Supplying fighters to help guard said convoy should we be on at the time.
c) Flooding Alexandria (last friday night we had 8 in Alexandria) to draw baddies away from said convoy.

Should either of these interest you post here and I'll post on the Asylum 51 forums re any agreement. We can then brief all pilots and be at call re escorts or additional traders! The Alexandria Canal must stay open!!! Did I say escorts??? Hmmmmmmmm, might dial up a couple for myself and get a party going in the cockpit!

We are glad to entertain the prospect of flying in convoy with A51. If I'm not around, *(due to RL)* then  I am sure the others will take care of the necessary arrangements....I think in management terms thats called "delegating"...Need to open a window in my diary to do lunch and get some "blue sky" thinking off the mat while popping some pennies into the think machine.....*(wanders off to right fan mail to Bill Gates.....)*  :D

I am extremely glad that without much " direct effort"  Zebulon's and mine dream of The Traders's Protection Circle{TPC} is going to materialise.The TPC was supposed to be a secret but it seems to me much has been achieved by simply posting a subject related to it in the this topic of-"convoys".
We thought TPC would be formed better if alliances were made through the PM level.But it didnt work as we had hopped for it to work.

For one thing i want A51 to be part of the this 'circle".The AoF fighters would be be also forming a "defensive circle."
However 2 things must be kep in mind before A51 and AoF join for this inter-clan trade alliance-
1.AoF will and will continue to look into the possibilty of "buying out entire clans using tribute deals" for the protection of our traders.There could be a conflict of "diplomacy".To explain lets take an example-
We have trade convoy consisting of A51 and AoF fighters and traders.The convoy is attacked by a pirate clan.AoF has bought out this pirate clan ensuring protection for its traders till the tribute deal lasts.But what about A51 in this case?If A51 doesnt have a deal then there could be a messed up fight in which AoF fighters will plunge into battle trying to protect the A51 guys and the diplomacy could get "strained."In such cases it would be better if A51 too have deal with this pirate clan.U will have to agree on one thing-convoys atract attention and many of the "evil clans" would see this as an opportunity for "juicy kills".
As of now only pirate clans can be bought of and clans like DTA would not never think "selfishly for money" even if u offered them a billion.
There are many other problems regarding diplomacy.For one thing AoF has a "policy of following the neutral line" when it comes to diplomacy.At present clans like <666> have been put in caution list.It seems A51 has some "grudge" with <666>.{Forgive me for using the word "grudge"}.One of the <666> boys told me that <666> doesnt attack Freelancers and only attacks Navy.He was a friend of mine and i am not sure whether its true or not.But u can only imagine what will happen if <666> thought of attacking us.AoF could be put in a "state of inaction" because of confusion regarding diploamcy.
U can say that before we begin in this endaveour we should clearly present each otherour DIPLOMACIES with all other clans.And after that decide on whether diplomacies have to be grouped or not for convoys or should the diploamcies be "merged"

2.AoF might seem as a "hypocrite clan".For one thing u may find that we talk about co-opertaion with pirates and on the other hand talk about forming TPC.We simply view such things in the "Business sense."We are averse to forming enemies and whatever deals we strike our not alliances in the true sense of speaking,only BUSINESS.I hope u understand,we only have alliances with like "like minded
clans."
Unfortunatley i have little idea about A51 dealings.U seem to have many wings for different things and some of u sound as mercenaries and some as people who can eat  u up for breakfast. Forgive for my ignorance regarding A51 i have no idea really.
In this case i hope A51 understand us and i wish too understand A51.I hope we understand each other before we procced

I really dont want to spoil the party in this alliance but i dont want to rush into things for later we might repent.
Just throwing caution.  :D

PS-sorry for my long post and i hope that the above 2 things stated are understood, and the problems regarding these things are cleared before we get down to details.

Well, I for one, will not buy free passage, I'd rather fight than pay protection money to scoundlals. But, then again, I'm here for the action. This is just my personal view on this

I wondered how long it would take for you to appear... If I start a War I won't whine about it - if I get my butt kicked - I learn from it, or not - depending.  You're the Bad Guys and we are the "Good" Guys...yeah? That means my guys will fight your guys and vice versa. Given how bad my personal Frags are, I don't realy give a monkeys....

This could get messy real quick..(in a good way of course...)

In response to Geromix - I would hope that the term "strictly business" would apply to AoF and that any percieved "flexability" in our relationships with others would be viewed as RP and not a personal insult. Our word is our bond. We are traders and profiteers after all. I like the idea of a wholesale "buy out" of a pirate clan, but I don't quite see that happening for some time to come. Something to look forward too. I suspect it will be a rare occurence as the Void does not work solely on economics, it has mayhem and bloodshed too... I would not want the Voidians to think of us as nothing more than angry accountants  :lol:  Try thinking "Serenity" and "Firefly" and "Ferengii" and the Guilds from Dune (or Discworld....?!) Anyone ever seen an old movie called "SpaceTruckers"?

I would certainly like to consider the A51 gang as being on "friendly terms" because Rogues are smelly bad guys - at least pirates take baths now and again....... If we formalise this it could be to our advantage - I will go consult with the Board of Directors........*(hic)* Zeb
