I voted no. I came to the Void and found it a good place to red dot kill and trade. Interaction with the other players was and still is very good. Took a while to get the hang of "hostilities". Started PvPing out of sheer desperation. My kill ration varies depending on which character I'm in. It varies from about 5:1 against me survivng to about 3:1 survival rate for me. Truth is its fun regardless of whether I get any or I just end up increasing someone elses score. If I come after someone and get a kill in even once, as far as I am concerned I did the job. Kills or attacks after that by the same player are fruitless, other than to establish a rep and to increase their frag stats.
If I get lucky once Im a happy man.....

If I dont care about the stats and if I am mad enough at you, I will keep coming after you till you go "boom" regardless as to how many times you may make me a "frag"......

I vote yes. If dot-killers have a way to measure their success and are actually scored by their kills, and if traders have a way to measure their success and in case you didn't know, a players rank is determined soley on how much $ he has, then PvPers deserve at least one way to measure their success as well.
In fact I would go farther and say that just as we measure of NPC kills and credits in our accounts, I think we should have a ranking structure for PvPers too. A third measure, frags. Maybe a top 20 list. Maybe measured in two ways: total number of frags, and frag to death ratio. Fair is fair... PvPers unite! Stand up, it is time to be recognized!

I say we remove /frags option alltogether, they've really done more harm then good.
We know who the good fighters are, no one needs 1100 frags and 110 deaths to prove it. Besides, i've spent too much time planet diving instead of getting medics for my 10-1 ratio =P
So the answer to the poll: No
But just so PvPers get as much due as red-dotters i recomend bringing back a godlike type system with serverside messages giving you something to show for themselves after 10-20-40-60 kills in a row.

Yes we need a frag counter. My 3 reasons:
1. It gives proper recognition to players who are very good in pvp. If you want pvp training, you can simply type /frags and see the top pvp'rs on the server. Send them a green and ask them for some advice, or even get to scan their ship.
2. It gives players a goal and something to shoot for. What's the point in pvping if you have no goals set for yourself? Ok you killed me big deal, I killed you big deal. If you lose a frag counter, it's all a sudden no big deal anymore and the "drive" to become better at pvp is lost. Just think of the satisfaction players get when they kill a good pvp'r. You'll never know who is good or not without the frag counter.
3. Exactly what WW said. If red-dotters can have a kill counter, why can't hardcore pvp'rs? PVPs take a lot of time, effort, and dedication to get good at. We should have a way of measuring our successes and failures in pvps.
Just my input. :)

"Ok you killed me big deal, I killed you big deal."
Should it really matter? You win some you lose some why's it gotta be recorded.
"But just so PvPers get as much due as red-dotters i recomend bringing back a godlike type system with serverside messages giving you something to show for themselves after 10-20-40-60 kills in a row."

When I was DTA O I cared, it was a rule in the clan and it was funny the competition with other members (and really hard).
But as a Freelancer I never did, and I dont care now, I dont use the /rags command since DTA are banned IoI so my vote is NOT.
This doesnt mean that I dont like the frag tool. I dont use it but many ppl do, so is a good tool for the server. Maybe both system, godlike type and frags could be implemented together, I dont know.

Well, fair is fair. If you're going to remove a way to count PvP kills, remove npc kills and credits too.
But no, you can't do that. They're basic components of the game. That's because they come with the game. But when you move into the MP version of the game, and we all have or we wouldn't be here, why do we do it but to play with and/or against each other. But there's no built-in way to score that new aspect of the game. Sure, some players prefer to not "fight." And that's fine. The Void has something for everyone. Including the people who want to fight.
Since this is a shooting game, there should be a way to "score" the shooting. Look at your player profile and it shows how many kills you have. And how much credit you have. And for the people who want to test their skills against one another, there should be a way to score that as well. I'm sitting here trying to think of a game that you play... even solitaire, where you don't compete, win, lose, keep score, or some variation of any or all the above. That's the point of a game. Otherwise it's not a game, it's a past-time. Like ...fishing.
I see your point, to a degree, pants. Frags has been at the core of some problems in the Void. But that's no reason to eliminate them. They say money is the root of evil. More exactly, it's the love of money that's the problem. So we should eliminate money? Frags aren't the problem. It;s the Love of frags, so much so that some players do anything to increase the frags and to heck with anyone else. That's wrong. In some junior little league baseball they have eliminated keeping score. Because they say keeping score is bad for the little kids' self esteem. But a lot of the kids say it's boring and not fair. Even the kids who aren't very good. Because keeping score is what makes it interesting.
That's why there are referees. And playground monitors. Not to stop people from playing, just to keep big Bruno from picking on little Elmo. That's what the [VOID]s are here for too. I think we should keep score. But I also think we should be sensible about it. Don't let players abuse it.

i vote for no. why u will ask?
coz its noobish to look your frags and then say i killed 1000 or i dead 1000.
i like pvp i like that sound of weps.
but on the other hand its need? why ?
coz its in the task or tests in clans how u prove that u kill for egz. 50 or 100.
probably we need some counter which will show the killing spree or something like that( u know like in Unreal tournament) multi kill!!
duoble kill!!!!!
Mega kill!!!!
so dunno lets kick command /frags only put /fragdetails to ppl who wanna know their numbers.

Its nice to keep track of how youre doing, the majority of this game online, imo, is PVP, and although its not important to some people to keep a measure, it is for others. I used to use it because when I came to Void I wasnt too good with tackling the new setups and speeds and was dying a lot, and as I got better I could keep track of that by keeping track of my frags.
As for do I use it now? I dont, but just because you dont use something doesnt mean it needs to go. Its cool to look at every now and then, and also, some people, a lot of people, are leaving freelancer, partly because of a lack of goals, and if they get the frags option they can then have a goal, no matter how pathetic you think it is to have the goal of getting 1000 pvp kills, and barely any pvp deaths.
You want to take that away from them?

I used to care. I had a really high KD ratio. But then they got wiped and after that i couldnt care less about frags. Its all about what you can do here and now.
