@Inf -i completely disagree with u.
As Electra said Global Warming is REAL.
I don't know what you can possibly gain by denying Global Warming.
I agree that the Earth goes through periodic phases and ages of weather extremes but what u see and feel now is real and is completely man-made.
The density of ice is less than water but how will u get more land when it melts. An increase in sea-level would mean disaster for everybody.
Now this "everybody" mainly refers to those leaving in low-lying areas in the equator region.
Those countries are extremely poor, countries like Bangladesh and Maldives.
The eastern coast of China around Shanghai too could face danger.
And then talk of developed countries from USA to Netherlands.
Inf u said-
"CO2 is primarily water and is not harmful"
I have never heard such rubbish in my life.LOL
Water is H20 and CO2 has carbon in it and along with gases like methane CO2 is a greenhouse gas.
CO2 and methane are responsible for the Greenhouse Effect. And when they are in "excess" they cause global warming.
Ozone hole is near the South Pole over Antarctica and right now the Australians and the countries near it are feeling the pinch because of increased cases of skin cancer.
Forest Fires-Of course forest fires happen but have u thought why they happen? They happen because of drought like conditions because of maybe an extended summer because of which organic matter in forest get dried and are devoid of moisture. This dried matter easily catches fire.
But have u thought why there is drought -like conditions or a long summer? It is because of climatic patterns being disrupted by global warming.
Not only would world temperature rise but climatic patterns would change.
Spare some though for this.
The United Nations and its select panel of scientists have confirmed that there is 90% chance that all of this due to man.Its almost confirmed that humans are behind Global Warming.
Human activities include industries, emission from automobiles etc.
Kyoto Protocol=And now another study comes out and says that if the world, entire world were to follow American standards of consumption then we would require 5.3 Earths to sustain it.
I am not saying anything against the Americans.
The entire world especially those in poor countries want to emulate the American Way of Life. Now when this causes massive pollution and nobody comes forward to admit and rectify this mistake then its a shame really.
With USA and Australia refusing to sign Kyoto Protocol and trying to drag developing countries into signing a new treaty that will cut their emissions but would restrict their economic growth, they have dropped to a new low of hypocrisy.
Though China has overtaken the US in being the largest emitter of carbon its per capita emission is very less when compared to US and this is because there are 1.4 billion people in China compared to 300 million in US.Its unfair that developing countries are being held responsible and are being asked to cope with this when most of the problem-creators are the ones who should do something about it.Developing countries have economies that are young and not developed and wont be able to bear changes in emissions relating human activities.
Unless the West comes forward and engages in concrete actions and help the developing countries to attain growth without harming the economic growth ten nothing can be achieved.
Don't take offense but i speak from the view point of developing nations and i have strong views on this.
