[X] Tag, and its worthlessness.

Three cheers for destroying a pirates RP!
Hip hip hooray!

Whats the point in having a pirate char if 100% of the voids population wont pay a tax. Keep in mind here that a pirate is supposed to be entirely funded but taxing alone. Thanks to the entire void population not cooperating the X tag is little more then a plug for the R tag, if you dont want [R] clans then you may as well ditch the [X] clans too. Traders: Paying the small fee of 200k is making you more money then running or dieing. You making about 10 times as much money as that tax in a single trade run. Oh and, by the way folks its really not funny to run from, kill yourself and blurt out in system:"ROFL I NEVER PAY TAX LOL"...
And clans, unless your a navy clan wouldnt it only make sense to pay a pirate. An order clan seems like it would have far more issues then policing a navy faction, a small 200k donation is far more efficent then spending the time and resources to fight a pirate thats gonna undock and rengage a dozen times.

The Navy > Pirate > Trade system is perfect. Pirates go were the traders go, navy follow the pirates. This is how hotspots are made. It helps if theres something in it for the pirates.

@ Pirates
Tax first, shoot second..

I totally agree with your logic. But the X tag has a stop gap (taxes) unlike R's, and represents the enemy faction for Navy to cut their teeth on.  How about we get rid of Navy? sense the only clan that actually stand guard to protect traders is n*o.

Well yes Symbol is right the pirate RP is dead, the hotspots of piracy and trading like Tohuku no longer exist and this has led to the downfall of piracy and rise of Rogue RP.

I definitely want pirate RP back in all its glory and not as semi-rogue RP.

A Pirate is defined by how it taxes and not how much it kills.

well I have 1 pirate char and I managed only 1-2 to have 200k payed by traders, they just dont pay, so that char is now nomad frendly and it is only used for eting weps for friends, So I was angry becouse no one wants to pay up and i made R char and now i just kill em when I have the time, becouse X tag is dead, routes are to short and in alex there are below levl 50 you are alive...
that is the main reason becouse X tag are on ICE and more and more R tags are made

Yes, you are right. But the traders won't pay tax, if the X tag chars shot first, and not say TAX!.
I have trader char too, and when the pirate ask me for tax, shut my engines, and i send the trade request. 200K. I'm often pay 1-2 mill, for pirate if he/she leave me alone, and give some protection to me. This is good, i think. BUT: in the last 1.5 month nobody ask me for tax, just kill. So why  pay to you? For the kills? I like the presence of the pirates, and i like the roleplay, just i dont like the pointless killing. And, some of pirate think, kill trader ships is a honor, and when the navy ships arrived, he/she is run like the hell, and fill the system chat some disgusting comment. Now, say: (to me) you are noob, shut up and go elsewhere or something similar.
Sorry for my english.

Well right point has been said.. I dont understand why nearly all of traders dont pay tax, it's against logic, it's better to pay poor 200 k and continue in trading than dont pay, lost all cargo and be killed.  :-?

btw about order clan, yea order clans can have more aims than just normal navy, but for example we are anti piracy clan, for many years..We are there for protecting traders and killing pirates, evils and rogues so I won't donate pirates and pay them tax, its just impossible..  I think it isnt needed to ask tax from the navy or order clans.. U have to understand we are there for attacking you not for paying taxes, dunno how about other navy and order clans but [n*o] will never pay tax, better fight and die with honour for us  :D

Long time I didnt see a post about this point. The discussion about pirate RP and ppl dont paying taxes is as old as me playing FL Io. And it is a losed time

Players only should pay tax if they are RPing, because if they are not RPing I dont see the fun (VHF against an armored transport is not fun). But most of the clans members have traders without the clan tag, so it is really difficult to see a trader RPing (except AoF).

It is very common to see this: one player called Jakes (example) is trading and a pirate tax him, or a Rogue attack him. In 1 seconds Jakes change char and "ups" now is ESF jakes or n*o Jakes or Black Legion jakes or Syndicate jakes or wathever (it is just an example please dont flame).

My conclusion is that I understand when non RPing players decide not pay, but the RP players are being unfair with rest of players if they dont pay. This is what happened in the past, and this is what will happen in future.

And dont forget that most of the pirates never tax, so they are not following their role.

PD: if You wanna fun being a pirate, tax all fighters, you would have much fight and same incomes (zero)

have to admit the order thing is good in a way and i see ur problem. only players prefere to die than lose their hard earned cash. im not sure what u can do , u cant force players to pay the money its up to them to say yes or no. pawn them a few times and they might reconsider ....

Look this is easy- Most X and R tagged players (old Boys) have Trader ships in my nearly 4 years of being here they all swap when it is convenient, its just a GAME get it. !

RP in Freelancer is the Players Responsibility.

The Players themselves must choose to play their respective role if they choose to role play at all.
Pirates should expect fights.
Of course no one wants to pay tax .. Why would anyone?
Traders should expect to die .. A lot.
Players that are mad about being "pirates that can't get others to pay tax" should
go kill pirates or defend traders instead.
Pirates should change role and be Pirate Killers if there are too many Pirates.
Pirate Killers should expect fights.
Traders who get escorts that defend them successfully should pay a fee to their escort.
The problem isn’t tax.
The RP balance of the game is up to the players.
So if it’s stale .. Change your RP.

RP in Freelancer is the Players Responsibility.
RP in Freelancer is the Players Responsibility.

Oh , did I say ???
RP in Freelancer is the Players Responsibility.
