Good Question.  This is something that if it is taken further in regard to RP the -=REAVERS=- would be keen to know where they fit in....!
:-?  :D

You don't need a license to kill.

Anyone can kill anyone at any time.

Period.

You don't have to be a [R]ogue to kill without warning.

Because anyone can kill anyone at any time.

Eclipse and 666 and Fallen and -=REAVERS=- and any of the other "evil" clans can kill without warning.

Because anyone can kill anyone at any time.

Freelancer is a shooting game.

And the Void is a dangerous place.

Because anyone can kill anyone at any time.

The entire concept of [R]-tagged players is questionable in the first place, but was dreamed up so you can see it coming, and know that player will probably kill you.

But that doesn't mean only [R]-tagged players can kill without warning.

In fact, wearing an [R]-tag IS a warning.

I have a character and he's a [R]-tagged player. He will kill you... or at least try.

But I have another who is not a rogue. He's simply a sociopath,  just this side of insane, stared into too many black holes for too long till all his humanity was sucked right out of him and there's nothing but an empty shell left. One day he might just fly right by. Another he might attack. He doesn't care if you whine. Or threaten to KOS him. Or call all your friends and hunt him down. In fact he might like that. Because he's freakin' stark-raving crazy.

Like me.

But mostly because he knows...

Guess what...

Right.

Anyone can kill anyone at any time in the Void.

No license.

No special permission.

No reason whatsoever.

Just a well-placed torp up the tailpipe.

In fact, it really wouldn't be very much fun if the game didn't have a little adventure in it, a little threat of the unknown, a little bit of fear and suspicion.... would it?

GF

Period.

I just wish I could get that kind of enthusiasm instilled in you with other games... *chuckle*  ... You know, the ones I enjoy playing with you... *chuckle* cuz try as I might I just can't seem to get sucked into the Void like you have.

it might be worth adding an " Evil " licence just for RP purposes

as we Evil clans don't have an RP tag, the licences are a good way to identify us as RP clans, especially to new players and those that don't read the forums.

might cut down on the amount of greens we get saying

" why you kill me??? "
" you dont have an [R] tag "
" this is a shooting game, but dont shoot at me"
etc..........

i know last time the thought of adding RP licences came up, tiods said we didnt need one as we dont fall into the "requirements" of the licences.

but i think it will be a good way of identifying people that want to RP and those that dont
will help to make the game fun for all

Or licenses are needless in NY...Maybe there licenses are wanted for next vers mod.
Tag for evil clans?
[ E ] , [ EV ]-evil      [TAG] nickname [ EV ]
navy?
[ N ] , [ NV ]
hm?
example:
[SYN]-DYNASTY-[NV] , =ESF=ALPHA*XENON-[EV]

If you think of it right, there is no Evil nor is there a Good, the only reason why Evil and Good were invented was so people could have "Justice" i'll use the war as a sample...

The "bad" people might think what there doing is right, the US/Canada/ i don't know witch other countrys are in it, but we think were doing the right thing...

The point of having tags and stuff is pointless, just kill! :D

watch wolf i know what you are saying but 2 thing i would like to point out.

1 void is not a first person shooter game. many say this but they are wrong. why you ask?  because with one click of the mouse strail can make it to were you can only kill npc. just like the single player game, it is not like bf2 or other shooter games. we have the ability to pvp others because strail lets us have it its that simple.

2. most player have enough respect for each other not to just fly around killing everyone they see unless they fly a tag char, or at least they use to have that type of repect back when the void was number 1. if everyone just went to killing everyone regardless of tag or no tag we would have a disrepectful chaotic mess and the void would not last a month. i know this because i have been on servers like this, and were are those servers now? gone no one would stay and play there.

the point is while we can kill each other and you dont need a tag to kill someone. these thing have been put into place to help everyone get along. yes there is always going to be the new player who does not understand that you clan kills without warning but they learn.  but the tag players help keep thing from becoming total chaos and ruining the hole server for everyone but a few.

:-? I would hazard a guess and suggest that both of you are right?

The point being:  At the moment it is set up so that it is possible to undertake a role such as -=REAVERS=- .  Whilst we attempt to be ruthless it is not without certain parameters to avoid the "decent into chaos" that Eagle One predicts.

At the same time there is a greater emphasis on RP than there seems to have been before, with the likes of AoF, BBD (despite doing the "turncoat" thing), ESF, Eclipse and certainly plenty of others that I could mention.  This, I hope, has added to the colour and flavour of the game experience here on the VOID and has prevented a complete decent to Chaos as predicted.

In all things we play here under the watchfull eye of a benevolent dictator.  Working on the "My Ball. My Game." principle.  Whilst much of what we have to say gets listened too - and thats where a lot of the other servers went wrong and suffered their demise.  It gets listened to but not always acted upon - otherwise this place would decend into chaos...!

The fact that you, Eagle One, can "co-exist" with the likes of the -=REAVERS=- and Eclipse is a testimony to the diversity of play available here on the VOID.
:D

i would agree with you zebulon, the admin of this server is the one biggest thing that makes this server so special. play on any other server, and i have like 20 others before the void. and you dont see the quality of people running the server.

on other servers they play favorites and even attack others if they do well and are not part of their little click.

the other thing i was thinking of last night is also what you said while you all can fly around and pvp. i chose not to, i have not went out to pvp in over 6 months but i stll play as many hours a day as anyone when i am home from work. i run my missions and explore. and very rarly am i bothered by others here because they know i am not here to play the game like that. that is the respect for fellow players i speak of. with that said i do keep an eye on my chat screen for rogues and pirates, they are the most likly to attack me that is their rp, however if i see a freelance with no tag i would not assume he is going to shoot at me if he sees me. more than likely he is here to ask me a question or is just passing thru.
