A Contraband Rant (kind of)

Okay...so we have a dynamic economy now ( =D> ) and traders have been spread out.  So what now?  We're sitting on top of a sleeping giant as far as RP is concerned.  More routes, and longer routes, mean that traders have more chances to get jumped by rogues, pirates, or NPC's, so maybe we'll see more people hiring escorts in the future.  And, (before I go ridiculously off-topic about trade convoys or something) interestingly enough...most of the new commodities are contraband of some kind.

Sure, we all know how the Omicron Alpha business ended up, but I'd love to see the navy scanning for contraband again.  It really messed with the economy of the Void, because it made the easiest trade route on the server a whole lot harder, but I don't see how going after traders with illegal items can create the same problem as before.  Everyone's spread out enough now to make another "War on Drugs" a little less painful.

I know that a few navy clans have decided to avoid this RP entirely, some of them for completely understandable reasons.  I know that a lot of navy players are pretty worried about trying it now, especially because it's possible to take it too far in the eyes of the server staff.  Which brings me to the last part of my little rant...

Attention all Navy Clans: My trade character is [T]Cow_in_a_Can[T].  If you see me, feel free to scan me.  If you catch me with contraband, feel free to blow me out of the sky.  I won't complain about harassment or losing my cargo.

Just my 2 cents...

:D its a good point and a decent Rant - just remember that when you find a "goody" milk it before the rest get there, thereby changing the prices! Then go find the next one....it makes for more persistent trading thats for sure...
:D  Good trader RP too - "catch me if you can"....

Well ofc,if traders are working hard one should expect all others including navy and piartes to work hard as well.

-Traders can also make contracts with paid escort, in case the trade be ended succesfully, they will pay the escort with a percent by profit.
-If the trader will be shoted by navy or pirates, the escort will pay the price of cargo to the trader. :D
c ya!

The dynamic economy will eventually kill this kind of thing.

Thats a negative comment I find to not be true Zeus. Actually I have found a couple of routes that stay pretty balanced. You may have to take cargo to different bases but by alternating bases you can keep a pretty good profit margin in those areas.A armoured transport in those areas can make 4 to 6 million a run. If it drops below 4 mil take a break and come back the next day and do it again. So far thios has brought me 300 mil and I have not worked it very hard.

I'm not trying to be negative, I'm stating the facts.

The dynamic economy means powertrading is not possible. So traders will spread out more and like you mentioned, alternate routes.

Why would the navy chase them about, when there's a larger chance they're clean than carrying contraband.

It won't happen.

I scan for contraband    --     In my riegnland Gunship " the KBA-GS-Gan_War_KBA  usally in alex system  most nights

sometimes i win sometimes i lose   But i have a great time Role playing and everyones great about it  either they blow me up or i blow them up  either way fun for sure !

A TYPICAL NAVAL CARGO SCAN  ----- Players level 50 and under Are Not Bothered By scans or fired upon.

Players level 51 and over ------------->

You will see   " HALT FOR CARGO SCAN  " then you have the following options !

1    -You halt i scan you  if your empty i let you go free - 90% of freelancers are not packing cargo/s
2    -You halt i scan you / your carrying products not considered to be contraband i let you go free - 8% are packing cargo/s
3    -You halt and i find contraband  - 1a you drop the cargo to be detroyed or 1b - you get blowed up - for refusal to comply
4    -You run away  -  " the navy never forgets "  - well our supercomputer dosent  :D
5    -You dont halt at all - - boom  - say hello to god for us "

3,4 and 5  are the other 2% of freelancers pirates rouges and evildoers :P That everyday get to go to that wondeful pirate/rouge  heaven in the sky :P

Roleplay is alive on the voidserver and if more people gave it a try they would see the game in perhaps another light  thanks for posting  this is a good thred  !  =D>

Yea u know why? cuz most of the navy trade contraband also LOL so no they wont do this sort of thing!!

Oh and another thing how would the server staff complain or whatever about this sort of thing? it is RP its what us PLAYERS do to make it work and fun for all. If some seem abit harsh about it.... Well thats good its RP! navy should be harsh to contraband holders, but they never are, why? because like i said they trade the stuff themselfs.

But good thread anyways  :D

I scan all traders. If they have cardamine they are protected by us, if not we ignore them.
