returning & in need of help

I am returning to the Void after a considerable absence.
I downloaded the Void mod 2115.xxx and the mod manager

when I try to extract the mod manager i get an error message saying that the archive is corrupted.

I have cleared and downloaded the mod manager 3 times and get the same result.

Please, Strail, tell me what i am doing wrong - if anything

Thanks

Hi buddy and first of all welcome back to the Void.

Try this one: http://rapidshare.com/files/163101288/V ... .zip.flmod

If you don't mind I'll check in again with your issue tomorrow. I just had my New Years party and I'm drunk as a banana. Good luck though.

Maverick, thank you for your welcome back, and Happy New Year to you.

I have downloaded the  Void2115v6.zip.flmod file AND the flmminstaller.

It is when i attempt to execute the installer that i get the 'archive corrupted' type error message.

I hope this is something easily fixed; i've missed the Void and want to explore again!

Well, after trying another half a dozen times, i finally got a copy downloaded that would unzip the installer, and it worked this time.

thanks Maverick for the response.

HOLD UP!

I do need help but not about the flmminstaller. I think.

I"m sorry if this question has been asked before, but i couldn't find an answer in the FAQ or forum.

I have downloaded the 2115v6 file, and the installer file.  Both are in the same folder.  i ran the installer.zip file and extracted the flmminstaller.exe file.

I'm lost at this point. i run the FLModManager.exe and get a window that offers me a bunch of mods that cannot be used in the Void. Same thing when i run flmminstaller.exe. After installing it runs the mod manager with all the forbidden mods.

I don't know what to do from this point on.  how do i start the void mod?

when i  click on Void2115v6.zip.flmod  i get "The central directory was not found in the  archive (or you were trying to open not the last disk of a multi-disk archive)

Will anyone take pity on this noob and help me get this game up and running? Or at least give me the thread which explains and gives answers to my question-"what do i do now?" I apologize for any inconvenience

The issue is that the void mod is not totally downloaded and therefore when you try to execute it (double click) it, it comes up with an error.

Maybe if people are having a problem with downloading the mod, there are some of you who can offer mirror downloads?

I wouldn't know how to offer you a mirror download, or I would. Hope somebody else can.

By the way, here's a little tip: Dunno if you did this yet, but the Void mod is a pretty large file and so it takes a little while to get there. When downloading, try to leave your computer alone for a sec. I really don't know for sure if this helps you anything, but I tend to do this because it gives me the feeling I limit the chances for the computer to corrupt the download lol.

This makes me think you might have installed the FLMM and the mod file onto different locations. I think the best thing you can do is to extract the file to your desktop. Doubleclick it there, and it will automatically install into your FLMM. And there's no harm in deleting all other mods that come with the FLMM. You can't use them anyway.

And make sure you have everything installed into the same disks.

Good luck m8, keep us posted.

I had same problem once i believe. You got to go to Options - Restore backups. If that doesnt work you might have to reinstall Freelancer.

WOOT!  WHEET!  I got it done!  :D  had to go to rapidshare to d/l a good copy of Void2115v6, but once i had it, everything works the way it's supposed to .... except maybe my rememberer ;) .

I suppose it was too much to hope that my old ships and whatnot were still around :(

That's OK, 'cause I"m back and gonna have fun anyway.

Hey, is clan VAGU still around?

Don't think so m8. I have been here for a year and a half now and I have never seen them I think. They must have left shortly after you I'm afraid.

Glad you made it.

Scream on!

I posted an introduction, so I won't repeat here.

On this topic: I will be willing to create a public download section on my Clan Website as mirror to some of these downloads. I think we've got a 100 mb limit per file, I'll have to check.
Right now our download section is open to Clan Members only, but give me a holler, Strail,  and we'll work something out. My only concern is my total limit in files up there. So let me know the file size, and total (well I could do the math but I'm math-lazy, LOL). I'd prefer to keep it limited to essential files. I'd also have to modify the site to allow non-member (clan) to a download page.

As far as this issue, I've got the Mod downloading as I type from the link provided in this thread, on RapidShare. 12.8 KB certainly seemed too small, LOL!  I'm using Firefox, and I wonder if that was the issue? I'm going to try the quick fix again with IE (gag!). Ok, that gave the same results... (using IE) so if anyone has a link to the file not on voidserver.com, please let me know...

I got the FLMM from another site, and got v1.31 I believe, it's the same one I used in the past, I believe. I'm hoping that will work.

The quick fix is an issue, not sure what that is:
A) the patch for Freelancer?
OR
B) the patch that lets Freelancer see the new server locations?
OR
C) Something else?

The reason it might be important is that I got the patch (A) from the Freelancer site, and patch (B) from www.fllistserver.com... and maybe with only them two I'm not fully updated? I haven't got (C) yet, LOL the zip/rar is corrupt. In any case, I've yet to be able to connect to ANY internet server for FL.

I've followed the permissions/compatibility thread in another post, to no avail, however, I havan't been able to complete it for VOID since my files were corrupt. Actually the Firefox question is moot, unless it's a site specific bug, because, the download for VOID mod is working (taking a while!) fine in Firefox from RapidShare.

I'll post again in this thread if and how I resolved these issues.
