READ AND UNDERSTAND THE FOLLOWING.

Recently we have recieved a number of personal messages from some people who appear to be under the impression that we are not doing our job in an unbiased fashion.  We have met and discussed this apparent problem.  These accusations are of course untrue.  We came to the conclusion that we have been, in the past, very relaxed in our approach to some of the minor problems here and have sorted out the more major ones with patience and understanding.  Our stance has always been equal towards all.  Only those who have found themselves in a position of being pushy and stupid about minor issues and a pain when it comes to attitudes have discovered that we have a low tollerance of such behaviour and find themselves "exiled" to New York or to a 3D system - and eventualy banned if they persist.  

Given that our integrity has been called into question we are publishing this warning - consider it to be a "MISSION STATEMENT".

1. WE ARE NOT HERE TO BE POPULAR - we are here to do a job. Despite what you may think we conduct ourselves in an unbiased fashion. Next time you get warned about your behaviour, take the time to think why you were warned and take appropriate action.  We are now examining very closely the VOID RULES and will apply them with extreme predjudice.

2. WE WILL NOT ENTER INTO A DEBATE OR ARGUMENT ABOUT YOUR BEHAVIOUR AFTER YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.  Take the telling off - apply the instructions or be banned.  Your choice.

3.WE WILL WATCH YOUR BEHAVIOUR TOWARDS OTHER PLAYERS.  You will be warned once.  If we feel that you are presenting a bad attitude and persist in behaviour that is considered unacceptable to us after you were warned you will be banned.  Reports of bad behaviour backed up with evidence will be acted upon.  You have been warned.

4. RESPECT GOES A LONG WAY ON THE VOID. Disrespect and argue with us, dont expect us to behave kindly towards you.  At the same time "suck ups" are not appreciated either.  Disrespect for other players particularly those of lesser skill than yourself will be considered a form of harrassment - dont do it.  

5. FOUL LANGUAGE will not be tolerated.  Some of us have differing levels of what we consider to be acceptable - however - dont push it...!  You will be warned once - kicked a second time and then finaly banned.  Evidential reports of offensive and foul language directed at another player  - FOR ANY REASON ( we dont  care how ticked off you were) will be acted upon.

5A. WE NOW HAVE THE ABILITY TO ADD COMMENTS TO YOUR PLAYERS INFO THAT US VOID GUARDS CAN SEE ONLY. Whats this mean, it means we will warn you and add a strike to your player info for all other guards to see you will not get away with it any longer.

6. WE WILL MAKE DECISIONS FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE VOID. Not for personal gain or for the gain of any particular faction. If you are here to boost your ego then you are in the wrong place. There is no order of seniority within the VOID Guardians.  There is no arbitrator.  If we make a decision dont take it to STRAIL.  Whilst this is his brainchild he does not need to be pestered by useless and pointless moaners who dont agree with those who have been chosen as VOID Guardians.


7. WE AGREE TO ABIDE BY OTHER VOID GUARDIAN'S DECISIONS.  Any disagreements or debates will be conducted privately - we will not enter into exchanges of PMs or long drawn out debates regarding any particular guard's decisions.  If you find yourself punished - tough.  We will not be tagged as "pet" Server Guards.  Any reversal in a decision will be conveyed to you in a short message that is not open for debate.  The VOID Guardians will decide, with the participation of the guard who actioned the decision, whether or not a decission is to be reversed.

8. WE WILL REFER ANY DECISIONS TO ADMINS IF NO AGREEMENT CAN BE REACHED. We will abide by an ADMINS final decision.  Do NOT seek to take any complaint over our heads to them.  They are ADMINS and are responsible for running the system on a daily basis, keeping an eye on us and providing advice to us and to other players as well as administrating the system and the server forums.  Burdening them with pointless crying messages about a VOID Guardians decision is a waste of time.

9. WE WILL ATTEMPT TO ASSIST YOU IN FIXING ANY MISTAKES YOU MAKE.  People are not perfect. If you acknowledge an error, we will go to great lengths to make your playing experience here enjoyable.  However if you are here to :


A.  Push or Intimidate other Players
B.  Engage in System Chat Harassment
C. Engage in Overkill
D. Argue with VOID or ADMIN tagged players
E. Break the Rules
F. Be a Pain and pushing a poor attitude
G: Do something we find inappropriate

Then dont bother - go play somewhere else  - we will not tollerate it.

10. DO NOT TEST US. We will be merciless if you dont heed the warnings. Please for the sake of a quick resolution and clarity let us do our jobs.  

11. DO NOT MOAN, WHINE, GRISSLE, CRY,WHINGE, SULK or POUT when decisions dont go your way.
Take your telling and live with it.  You may be permitted back - you may not.  That depends very much on your own attitude - no one elses.

12. WE WILL BAN ANYONE WHO ADMITS, DISCUSSES, OR TEACHES METHODS OF CHEATING.  If you are caught blatantly cheating - your gone.  If you are caught discussing it - Ban.  If you are caught backing someone up or supporting someone who cheats - your gone. CLAN LEADERS: It is up to you to keep your house clean.  We know it can be difficult but this problem needs to be addressed.

13. BANS WILL ONLY BE DISCUSSED BETWEEN YOU AND THE VOID/ADMIN THAT BANNED YOU.  Dont go crying to another VOID. ( see statement 7 &

14. FROM THIS DAY FORWARD. If you are banned from the game Indefinately  "meaning forever" this means your character is erased, as well as you no longer have a right to post on our forums.

15. WE ARE HERE TO HELP.  Believe it or not that is also why we are here.  Certainly for the newer players. Sometimes there are misunderstandings and we will try and avoid these.  In order for that to happen we ask and need your cooperation.  If we are asking you to do something we may give a brief initial reason why. We may not - so please dont feel you have to call for a lawyer, all we ask is that you do as instructed with as little argument as possible.   Most of the time it goes well, we wont always get it right so please be patient with us

Furthermore

The VOID was created by Strail for people to come here and have fun playing an excellent Freelancer Modification.  It is not a new game.  It has been around for quite some time as far as games are concerned.  We will attempt to maintain as pleasant a playing environment as possible with all the conflict and excitment that is given off by a combat space simulator enhanced with a certain level of Role Play.  We will protect the idea that Traders, Explorers, Pirates, Navy, Police, Rogues and Nomads are free to use the VOID.  We will protect the right to PvP.  We will uphold the rules and conduct our justice swiftly and with an even hand.

Strail does not want your empty praise or gestures.  Just come on here and play the game in the way it was intended by its creator - thats all the thanks he needs.  Post your tales and stories on the VOID forum - ask questions, raise topics - but remember this - baiting, flaming and general bad behaviour on the Forum will not be tolerated.

We applaud those that have come here and never been banned and have played this game on this server for a very long time and without any complaint.  You would all do well to learn from this.

Just because 10 guys say they have some problem with u it doesn't mean others also say the same.

hey mav i think yes vector is a true void guard but i think hes more busy being the site admin here   but vector agrees with the above statement  and supports it

the post isnt rude   but i guess its all in how you take it

and the statement is a collective agreement between all server guards  just cause it is posted under my name dosent mean im the  captain  

all of us guards are equal  and make decisions that way

before this post was released    the statement was voted upon by all void guards that are active and the decision to release the statement was all votes yay

I agree with you guys,

VOIDS take a lot of flack for ,well, being a VOID.

For people who forget,  this is a free server, people donate their time, and money to keep it free, for those of us who cannot afford to pay. Being the one who enforces the rules, has never been a popular job, or an easy one.  I for one, feel lucky that I can play here, and hope to after my US taxes come in, pay a little to the cause.


You guys keep up the good work, and don't let the few who don't like your decisions, or break the rules be the voice for those of us, who play within the rules and enjoy our time here.

Hopefully  the next day will be a better one

It would be clearly advantageous to post the applicable portions of the Server Guard Guidelines that are posted in the [VOID] forum. I helped update those and I know how the Server Guards are supposed to approach their positions. Having them open to the Void to see would go a long way in helping people see a counter-balance to this hard-core approach. It emphasizes guidance over discipline, a stance I strongly support.

I'm still looking for my copy and will post it when and if I can find it, assuming it wasn't destroyed in my PC crash last year. Please take the positive step and proactively show that point of view. Obviously the technical part is not applicable but the guidance instructions are.

Thanks Watchwofl - that would be most helpful indeed.  Just so we all understand where we are coming from and that those who seek to undermine and argue decisions made by VOID guardians know that they are on a "hiding to nothing" as they say....  :)
