Question for the Guards

Post by Maverick »

I was just wondering:

What is your stance towards clans giving new members all the money and equipment they need, so that they are level 80 or even higher and are flying an Anubis with Nomad shield and armor on their first day?

Is it considered to be 'not in the spirit of the game', or is it the clans their own business how they handle that?

Thanks in advance.

That is one of the advantages of being in the clan. If you want to be Freelancer then you have to start from the zero. :D

You call taking away from the exploring of a great mod, finding good trade routes and building up your own chars from scratch, creating lazy players, an 'advantage'?....

Well, I think that`s their way of playing this game. Everyone have to choose at start. For example - Me - love starts. Exploring, Finding and Starting my new char again and again. Simple, people are people - and each player have its own view and way to play this game. Sal.

well that depends on clan policy

theres clans that setup its new members with new gear
theres clans that maybe wont do that

theres even those that dont need clan assistence as they can do all setup by themselfs

against the rules?
no in any way

Personaly I would only take members that are already self sufficient.  Goes against the grain to just hand someone kit and gear without looking around - but I guess thats just for the frag monkies and the addicted PvPers.  Its a shooting server.  If a clan does this and then someone leaves straight after I take a dim view of it and will require the money returned.  However if it is a clan policy just to hand out gear to new players then dont come crying to me when they do a runner after being with you for a week.  Check your policies and make sure the new players understand the deal.

Don't see any problem with it m8. Most players play Freelancer just to PvP or do Role Play.
I agree that it takes a huge part of the game. I remember i first started and had to build it from the ground up. Reminded me of the Single Player, loved it.
The best way to understand the mod is to play it piece by piece. I would not know what to do if i had 100 mill the first time im in this mod as a new guy. Probally lose my mind of information. Even be more crazy than i am now. ( hard to believe huh? )  ;)

But remember that most new players here in The Void have played Freelancer for years. And to start all over again might be asking to much. I can't do it again. Remember to do that boring trading again :P
Its the choise of the clan leader i supose.

Scream On.

And especially for a clan like the Reavers. We don't have the time to "fluff around"; we can't carry average gear in an average ship because we are KOS to pretty much everyone on the server. From the get go we need to be on form and ready for a fight! Just part of the RP ;).

Thats my opinion, being a server guard and all. :D

Depends on clan policy.

There used to be a time when u could easily recruit many new members but that is not the case now.
With many competing clans and few players to recruit you need to be on ur toe always as a recruiter and a leader.

I do certainly agree with you on the limits of this, but i think this should be more of a guideline than a rule.

All clans i have seen here ensure that their recruits go through some 'start-up' phase.
I dont think any clan can afford to give new recruits so much money that they are Rank 80?!Not even we in AoF can afford that.

AoF policy limits all 'start-up packages' to a max of 5 mil, nothing more. Some aberrations can happen as is with the recent episode AoF had,but then these things happen and as a recruiter u need to move on and find the next 'target'.

We would probably be prone to abusers (like AoF) if we start advertising we are giving out that much cash right away though. I agree with all the gear and a ship, but the newbie would have to be pretty well known and trustworthy to have that many credits given to them upon first arrival!

Unless you have a way around it?

Which clan would that be?That clan has got to be super-rich and must have trillions of credits and not billions.

I find it hard to believe..... :P
