actually it fisheye effect ur using resolution which was not made for freelancer to support, such things were also noticed on another erver where mod itself let you made higher resolutions for widescreen monitors. All in all u can clearly see his shield energy and hull bars coming out of the space in hug plus text ms's are way too off from their position and the ship itself is further ahead decide whatever u want its fisheye effect which is caused by changing ressolution through out ini not in-game option

In any case it looks like a advantage for shooting and turning.

And I think it too childish for words that people here keep getting in each other's hair for trivial things like this. Freelancer was made before the widescreen age, so it is only logical that at some point patches are designed to let people play the game to the best of their monitor's abilities. Personally I think it's too ridiculous for words that a player feels he has to go through the trouble of explaining his case along with an elaborate video as proof in an attempt to free himself from the never-ending moaning about cheating. I wonder, does none of those people who have the habit of throwing cheat accusations around ever ask himself what effect his moaning has on the other player his pleasure of playing the game?... It's obvious that they don't.
That's a great attitude if you're in the process of trying to get the server back on track.

Does a widescreen patch like the one Claw is showing actually include modding/changing game files? Yes it does. Does it give the player an advantage in game? No it doesn't. You gotta look at in what spirit the player does what he does, it's not all black and white folks. In black and white it might be against the rules, but if no advantage is gained, what the heck is the big deal.

Give the guy a break, he is only trying to make his 4:3 designed game look good on his widescreen monitor. As do I. Yes surprise, I also use a widescreen patch, and even a patch that arranges the HUD in the proper positions on a widescreen monitor (which Claw doesn't use looking at the video). And FLAC doesn't even notice.
Besides the fact that this involves modding files, it is also an inherent part of trying to keep a 10 year old game up to date and interesting for players to play.
If that is reason for moaning, or even worse, banning, then you might as well throw the FL disk in the bin.

Seriously, I feel sorry for CLAW and other players who have to listen to this kinda BS time after time after time, and get into the situation that they feel it is necessary to explain themselves to the community, which has no business concerning them with issues like this in the first place.

Has nothing changed in the year+ I have been gone? How will you ever get the friendly and enjoyable server you all want if this kinda BS keeps up.  #-o

Are u blind? the FOV is bigger means he has advantage over others actually i dont even play this game anymore and i dont care if some1 plays with that its just my 2 cents. By thi i mean I am objective as this doesnt concern me  and i dont have any hurt or anger for any of you, as i havent played for over a year

P.S after 4 years, its still freaking odd how people want fair play, which is fun, but defend obvious advantages for their need and call it fun(Ye i guess for those who use that its fun). Furthermore Every fucking multiplayer community wants equal sportmanship i cant call this equal, sry.

Even though I put 'you' in that reply a couple of times, that post was not directed at you personally, but just in general. Even so, I'll explain.

I was crap at PvP before I used the WS patch, and I'm still crap at it now. Never cared about being any better either, so why would someone want to use a patch like this if they wanted to cheat.
It does NOT give you any advantage what so ever. Even though your field of view might be slightly wider than normal (but your ship is NOT further away than normal btw), the difference is so small that it's not of any substantial practical use when everything's moving fast like it does in a PvP.

The only thing you do notice is that the game looks better on your widescreen monitor, and everything is not cramped together anymore. Just looks better that's all.

I think it is not really a cheat that was supposed to give an advantage. But in certain ways it does. You have a wider screen. Thus you can have targets longer in sight. It is a small advantage over other people.

Think that we have Now established that CLAW does not cheat his monitor is different..
