I also herd and read that Sony is trying to get soming like that but they are going to let the developer charge a monthly fee for online play that a lot of monye :( , but that does not mean that they will I hope not anyway

The poll will be open for 31 days

er...

you cant currently buy a PS3 so XBox 360 would be the best right now...

To answer which one is better:

Biggest factor is what games are available for the PS3 that you like, and what games are available for the XBox 360.

Performance wise they will both be good.

I know you can't buy it yet but there is always preorder.

And it comes out in November the same time Halo 3 is out, not in spring

Yes but you cant give an accurate oppinion on a product you have never tested.

Hence no one can say wether PS3 is better than XBox 360 or not at the moment

on paper the PS3 completely demolishes the XB360...however in the REAL world the PS3 is approxmately 20% more powerful..

Lets put that into perspective

the XB360 can render quake 4's high detail textures, normal maps, specular light maps and handle it's physics in 1080i HD at at least 25fps

the 20% bonus the PS3 gets means it could do the same at 30fps assuming it can manage 1080i HD

The XB360 can render the extremely complex and messily coded textures, normal maps etc etc of Oblivion at at least 25fps

The PS3's 20% bonus means it could probably do the same at 30fps

Now performance aside this is the really critical factor

The XB360 is childsplay to develop for, all you have to do is take an existing PC game, add support for multicore cpus, compress the textures a bit more, if needed convert the renderer to d3d from opengl and tweak the user interface to respond to a joypad and bobs your uncle you have an XB360 game...this is made possible because the XB360 uses conventional PC like hardware, IBM power PC processors x3 and a fairly standard ATI GPU based on the x1900 and it's all run on windows kernels, and of course it uses and established media format in the form of box standard dvds which are cheap to produce plus development kits are cheap as chips as all you need is a PC and a bit of software.

PS3 however is a different animal altogether..the CELL chip is complex and virtually impossible to program the way YOU want as it's designed to decide for itself what to use it's multiple cores for, the nvidia GPU is totally custom and uses a custom API for it's rendering meaning all 3d rendering has to be specifically coded for it, it has a customised and unique operating system, it uses a new and expensive media format in BluRay..so development cycles will be much longer and more costly for software companies plus they will all have to learn to use the thing and aquire the $3000 development kits and hardware (it's not as simple as a PC and a bit of software)

Now factor into that the fact that the XB360 has had time to establish itself in the market and already has a good selection of kick a**e titles available and many more in development and you begin to see that Sony may well have shot themselves in foot here...this is NOT the same situation is the Dreamcast vs PS2 scenario we had the last time in which the far inferior Dreamcast hardware failled to even get started really because everyone waited for the clearly superior PS2..people are buying XB360..developers are commiting to XB360...and Sony still can't even decide how much to sell the PS3 for yet and are finding themselves hurting in the manufacturing costs department for a console that simply isn't REALLY any better than the XB360.

Hate to say it...but it looks like Mr.Gates has just about won this fight before it even really starts.

Read this:

http://news.com.com/Play+your+own+Xbox+ ... 04939.html

Basicaly MS is making a number of tools available for indie programmers and novices to make their own 360 games.

This means you will see an increase in the games available and more support for the 360.

Unless your going to change your console every 6 months I think the longevity of the 360 etc is good
