just wondering if anyone uses linux and if so what do you use?
i currently have redhat installed but support ended and there are no more updates for it so was wondering what others are using as i feel an upgrade is needed....
plus red hat now want $80 for the new version of redhat and for only 1 years support (robbing b******* )
a mate at work suggested Ubuntu but thought as some of you guys are quite techie i would ask you lot as well.....
i've been looking at Fedora (from the makers of redhat)
if anyone uses linux or has a suggestion of which one i should go for, will be grateful...

I've only ever used Linux once..I used topology linux because you could install it INSIDE windows and had a built in gui that required little messing about to get going unlike other Linux builds.
I'll be honest here..I find Linux overly complicated, ungainly and severely lacking in user friendliness...if you run a server of anykind it's brilliant but for joe average it's a complete waste of time.
Sure if you don't mind unlearning everything you know about using a computer so you can learn all over again using Linux then go for it..but you wont get far trying to play freelancer on it.

Re: LINUX suggestions anyone?
yeah i tried installing FL in the past using a windows alternative api, but it wouldnt go past the menu screen it did start to load tho so was quite impressed, but never got further than that before it crashed. it is a microsoft game after all it was never going to run on linux.
i duel boot to XP to play FL, and other games etc, i use linux for doing stuff for work, i find coding a lot easier in linux, things seem to compile a lot quicker, got bitten by the linux bug at uni, the lecturers all had a anti-gates believe so pushed us to do everyhting in linux
anyway thanks for the thoughts......looks like ubuntu it is

Big problem with linux OS and Windows games is direct X and the FL is the one of them.I f the game is written in open GL their is not problem to start game on linux OS.My suggestion is to used FreeBSD or Ubuntu Linux they stable get very good support of open source community and for now you can download free version from their sites.
