Hm.

Seems maybe I was off-center on my way of looking at this. At least how I said it.

I see your point, Ent, and yours too, Ghost. All I was trying to say in my previous post was that this could work for and not against the [X]'s. I was NOT trying to say it was a good idea.

Let me think out loud here for a minute...

Maybe it's not so off to point out that your reactions, especially yours, Ent, is exactly what I was hinting at... Your RP strategy has changed  - to a reign of terror such as the Void has not seen while I've been here and IMO is long overdue. It's put the outrage and the ferrocity back into the RP and will make people flee before the [X] they see on their scope. As it should be. Not only that but I see "[X]EF and allies" at the bottom of your post... another thing I was hoping to see. Makes me want to become a pirate again.

Still I do see the point about the server and the change of emphasis. I agree completely that one of the benefits of the new server in it's increase of power is supposed to give us much more ability for massive battles. The huge fights we have seen at Demos will find a new home, probably in Sparta. Am I missing something about why we shouldn't fight there?

I honestly do see the point about this change catering to those who prefer to not PvP and even more to those who have whined about being shot down in Alex. It's an unwelcome change that took me completely by surprise this morning. The reactions are more than understandable, they's 100% justified. If it were me... and maybe it will be... I'd make 'em pay by making debris out of every non-[X] I saw anywhere I saw them. Just like you've said you're going to do. That's great! I love it! Put the fear back into it... make the Void a dangerous place again.

OK, all that thinking out loud aside, the whole thing could be a mistake in my opinion. Maybe it's an experiment. The evil Void Gods don't share their secrets with us, not even with their lower demons, the [VOID]. Although the Void is a multi-role server... PvP, Trading, NPC killers, whatever anyone wants it to be... It's obvious that the vast majority of us prefer the their RPs and use them to enhance the individual and mass PvP aspect of the game. If this change is seen as catering to "non-violent Void-pacifists" it could result in alienating the core membership of hardcore PvP'ers. That would be a disaster.

SO now we are faced with a very uncomfortable paradox: we get PO'ed enough to leave the server in waves, weakening the Void to the point of collapse, bringing about the very ruin of the Void we're all trying so hard to prevent with our drive for a new server. Something no one wants and most certainly was not the intention of this change. OR we all work to adjust the way we play the game... make it work, so to speak... and therefore justify the change as a good thing and taking away any reason to rethink the decision.

The only other thing I can say is, in light of our current circumstances this decision could not have come at a worse time.

*EDIT* while I was writing this several more posts appeared in the interrim. Not that it changes what I wanted to say, it just seems to repeat some of what has been said.

Well, Ent, I´m not sure what that will achieve, but I can certanly understand. But I would ask you and everyone else to hold your wrath for a whille longer, until we get some kind of justification....

To me, the thing that bothers me the most is that we haven´t really had any further explanation on this by those who took the decision. I mean, Strail just posted it in a thread that was immeadiatly locked, and even WW, who is part of the Server Team has no clue whats going on.

Specially now, with the move the community is having to get a new server, and all the hard work WW is having, it just boggles my mind why the Admin Team would apparently shun off the community in such a way.

Try as I might I really can´t make a sense of what´s behind this....

I'm just wondering about the definition of pirate i dont think it is " a scallywag who just sits in one place waiting for traders
or navy to come to them." Like RL pirates didnt just sit in the harbour and wait for traders to go past, they went looking.
But i suppose with this no pvp in alex it will just move every1 back to sparta.
So it will be like the old days b4 the gates. But for me i dont care either way, the void is still cool place be. SCREEM ON!!!
just my view.

Yes, I do see your point, Ent my friend. I see all of them.

I'm just trying to find a way to make the best of a lousy situation.

As for my personal reaction I hope to sit on it a few days and see how this shakes out. I mean, the post was just made today.

Well, well, once again we have chaos (and not the clan)

As probably the only true freelancer trader on the server who has never and never will, belonged to a clan - i am a dedicated trader.

I have lived, fought, lost, been shot, killed without warning, showed others how to be the consumate trader, and how to survive on Void in spite of DTA, X, R, etc. etc.

i have two characters above the 90 Lvl, and still working on others.  i have one policy -  outsmart the evil forces who would do me harm, and get even with those who dock shoot, etc. ad nauseum (once more)

This is the most dynamic, changing server i have ever been on and have lost characters when re moded, lost billions of dollars (trade without  being spoon fed by a clan) when character reset occurred, and i still come back to be --- be what?  a Trader , cuz i enjoy the challenge DTA, pirates, rogues etc etc demand of me as a trader.  my MOTTO:  D... 'em all - i trade, i will trade, and i will help all who trade to exist on the server.  i have helped you all, DTA, pirates and rogues, and friendlies.

When one route is closed, i seek another.  If i get dock killed, i dont get mad, i get even.  At least i try to  (lol)  hence my fighters.  i work to have a good rep with all NPCs so i can trade freely.

Point.  We all have our reasons to be on Void.  From time to time there will be attempts to change things for the better (or worse), but we all have to work the change, till another change comes along.  SCREAM THRU THE PAIN !

None of us should think that we are the sole arbitrator of how things should be on VOID.  It is a game for pete's sake.  We should act like it is a game.

I dont want to flame anyone, even though i could without regret.

I am a trader.  I will never belong to a spoon fed clan with members that have no idea how to survive countless attacks by wave after wave of NPC's  You think the only thing Void is for is to see how many ppl kills you can get, so you shorten the fight time so overgunned, over rated pilots can excel,  fine,  enjoy it.  But let others enjoy the VOID also without all the fuss.  Just play, and get thru it.

So traders, learn how to survive- Evil forces keep killing and taxing us (it makes our day), everyone: just play the dang game.

My opinion.

Why are you shutting down alex?

I look at alex and think. Wow.. its a place were all the things are happening. There are pirates. Rogues FL's. All kinds of people that are in Alex trying to have some fun. This is a major section off RP. Everyone came here to chat. Talk hold there fights at Demos. Fight DTA and generally have there fun.

Sure there were some down sides. People moaning. Swearing. Possibly the odd abuse. Some childish behaviour. But, Tis is what made Alex Alex. I remember it for the timse people would kill DTA becuase they were attacking traders. I can remember the countless fights that i had at Demos. And why? Because it is the very heart of alot of RP in the void.

And what has happend by shutting off the PvP in Alex. 2 things.

1. Made alot of People un happy.
2. Killed alot of RP off.

Now im asking my self this. If so many people moan about alex and the gates. Why dont you let them moan. Surely you must think. Why are they always moaning. Ohh wait i have the answer. THERE BANGING THERE HEADS ON A BRICK WALL. Maybe if they opened there eyes and took the advice from experienced players on the void they wouldn't have this problem. Sorry but its true.

And now all this rage is happening. AT's etc are now going to be killed on site. I dont know if it is the right thing to do as many people are now extremely annoyed and it could lead to even more moans.

But i do know one thing. The dogs have been pushed out of Alex and into the confinements of new london. And dogs dont like cramped spaces! ;)

Greaver.

*Edit* Man i hate spelling mistakes :D

Ohh and one last point. I cant get the feeling over the last few weeks. That maybe the server is aiming for Quantity instead of Quality?

Might just be me.

It'll feel good to let rip for a while .. considering we've pretty much dominated the evils of this void for around 3 months, no force has been able to hold us back, unless it was 14v4, comprising of about 6 clans lol.

How are these poor traders going to survive?

An order is an order :/

Aye... an order is an order. Woe to those who try to cross the boundaries.

I wonder how many loose cannons we might have who will just fire on anyone with no waring out of sheer frustration. Vigilantes, so to speak.

Meanwhile I'm hoping some sort of explanation will come forward.  :-w

This isnt out of frustration.

One, it makes a point. They cant really miss the post.

Two, Im looking at it as another chance to RP. Change our role around for a bit.

Alex was a pvp free zone some time back if my memory is correct? I cant remember why we changed it back.  IMO making alex a pvp free zone wasnt the best choice, but im looking forward for sparta being the system of pvp once again. I can see alot of RP being lost in this.Good luck to those shutting down systems, but wont the traders just trade in alex and alex alone to save getting killed? I dont think you'll get much action waiting at the other side of the gates. Lets see what happens. %-(
