Stricter Clan creation rules?
OK, ill start out wiht an overveiw of our current status:
We have 35 clans. 25 of which (ill list if needed) have under 5 active members. And all but 2 or 3 of the clans never have more then 3 or 4 members online at their most active point in the day.
So answer this. Whats more fun, 10 active clans or 35 less-inactive clans?\
I vote the first.
I propose first we tighten the clan requirments to become official. To be honest, anyone can recruit five members in a day. The real test is holding your members (most new clans recruit fresh new players which often leave the server in a matter of days) so it is not at all uncommon to see a new clan spring up with 10 members online at once, become official, and die a few week later. Instead of the current restrictions try something more time based. Being able to hold 5 active players over the course of 3 weeks is a feat worthy of the official status and would greatly help weed out the less commited clans.
I dont want to stomp on the voids history here but the older clans need a good nutshot back in gear as well, for thats partially the root of the clan-fever. Who wants to join an inactive clan if you can just make your own. Not sure how to deal with that.

Re: Stricter Clan creation rules?
u got the point...i understand u clearly there mayb u should list the clans names anyway...if it happens to be mine clan as one of em...i could try do something bout it.
also...new clans seems to spring up now and then it makes ppl think its easy to start n run a clan when its not. so wif ur idea bout holding 5 members for 3 weeks seems good or even mayb 2weeks? as it will make ppl think twice bout starting 1...
pz man i need a siggy

I have to agree with you on this one. It seems like we do have new clans pop up and go away and some clan areas are still up and they just dont play any more. But i dont think that should stop people from posting there ideas etc as that is what gains them members. Its just when it comes to the final crunch the final decission should be made.

Re: Stricter Clan creation rules?
agree with symbol we need to make less clans just about 6 or 8 strongest.
because now almost all can create clan and recruit new ppl.
and we need to do that both sides navy and evil- pirates clan number will be the same
what about that?

Re: Stricter Clan creation rules?
While i think more control is needed, no need to dictate.
If someone wishes to make a navy clan, they can make it, but until they prove themselves as something worthy of serverside support they will either have to be a few dedicated players or some higher end recruits.
As for the current clans... alot of them of a rich history on the void. BBB, Samurai, Knights, Shadows, and Fallen are all examples. Now i dont wanna run amok on somones clan and history but they're part of the problem.

Re: Stricter Clan creation rules?
I agree some limits need to be made on the Clan system, but to summarily limit someones ability to create his or her own army is wrong.
Yes I have seen clans pop up and then the next day be gone.
The timeframe for new clans needs looking into.
1. clan membership needs to be increased from 5 to 10
2. Clan members need to have 75% of clan on at one time for a period to be determined ( by those on the Ateam)
3. Clans need to do thier RP, why claim to be navy if all you do is sit around the Sparta rock and complain when a "bad guy" rival clan destroys you. Navy are the defenders of the VOID. WHy be a pirate if you don't tax ( and just destroy traders)
I enjoy seeing the clans here in the VOID, some of the people in the are fanatically loyal to thier in game families, then again some are just ...
If any changes do get made, I just hope that the changes are fair, across the board to all clans, new and old.
See all of you in space.

Thats close to impossible to do, there are people here from all the way from the west of america to Australia.

Re: Stricter Clan creation rules?
I agree about there being too many clans who just appear, recruit anybody and everybody and then fold again.
I logged on as one of my other chars. The char was so new that the only thing I had was 20mil in credits and a dagger, when I was greened. The person shall remain a secret, but his exact words were "I've never seen u in game before, do u want to join my clan".
It was nice to be asked but my point is, this guy just asked me without seeing me or knowing me, he didnt have the first clue who I was, but he was happy to make me a clan member just to get the numbers up. I doubt I would have been the only person who got asked that day.
Sorry for posting so long, but it would be nice to see the rules for clans tightened up a bit.

Re: Stricter Clan creation rules?
I can;t get on, is that my fault? Stop complaining. We have clans for a reason. I see no point in this as its not creating any damage to our server or forums other then more players eligible to join different clans, with different RP and such.
It has a more of a wide variety and i think thats whats best about Void.

I know it is difficult, but their are quite a few who manage to give a massive show of force all day long, yes those in Australia , and the Western US are at a disadvantage, but, that was why I did not say 100% all the time.
We are not bashing any clan, just trying to find a happy balance in the clan system, if this was a flame about all the clans I am sure the Admins would politely inform us of the invalidity of the thread.

Re: Stricter Clan creation rules?
I have a few thoughts on this myself.
It is nothing short of saddening to see Clans come and fizzle out.
But they don't fizzle because of the Clan rule.
Part of the reason why the Void has always had very achievable prerequisites for having your Clan officially recognized is because we know that having something you can “Call your own” is really cool.
We don’t mind there being a lot of different Clans.
We don’t mind Clans that have been here a long time being less active than newer ones.
We don’t mind Clans that are new with lots of new players.
It’s not our rules that make a Clan have a short half-life.
It’s the principals and the creed of it’s own members.
Everyone likes to have (or be in) a Clan they are proud of.
That they can have “bragging rights” about.
That gives them a good feeling when it comes to mind.
That can become a lasting memory for them when they look back on old times.
It is not Our wish to make a rule that slows the process of “Claning for Fun” amongst players in a fluid game like Freelancer.
When you can change your Identity as you wish, you should have Clan requirements that fit with that.
We do.
The hard work on the forums to do the up-keep on clan areas is well worth the effort if it helps to provide part of the enjoyment that a player can feel being part of a “Grand Clan of the Void”
Scream On !
