In Game Frustrations
Please read all the first paragraph before you post or reply to anything.
I am interested in what you find frustrating (mildly or majorly) with the game experience. This covers all the small to the larger things in game play. repetitive stuff you dislike doing, things you noticed that are probably a quick fix etc etc.
Whilst I tinker with some of the game elements, I have seen a couple of things which i have thought, "maybe we dont need this" or "i can adapt and change that a little"
This isnt a "we want this in the mod" or "that taken out" etc. more a sort of "thats in the game, but it would be better if it did it this way".
Obviously, there is some stuff which can't be changed, but if I can do it, it makes sense we highlight some of them here.
If there is any post it, if your unsure if it fits with what I have said, post it anyway and at least I know about it.

Re: In Game Frustrations
Hello strail, thanks for asking, I have a few reasons, bu before readign them please don't think any of there are your fault
1. Besides other games, sometimes its hard to get back i nthe battle zone and most don't like traveling so much [its sometimes anoying]
2. Sometimes people can't stant to see others spaming missiles at them [simply anoys them]
3. Eaven sounds can becoem annoying sometimes [incoming missile " "bip" "bip" "bip"]
4. a nother reason is, your ship die hards, I know it sounds silly, but if ships would be ALOT more vulnerabull ALL of them people will get used ot be normal to lose
5. olso restricting to say "BACKSTABER" "LAMER" "JUMPER" would be good to
6. People really hate traveling systems, to get from Unknown 2 or from New yourk to Babylonia is a pain
My recomendations would be that weapons should be 9 times more powerfull, faster cruise, less missiles, around maximum 10 in cargo but powerfull,
olso would be nice to see NPC have a very easy hull and VERY good weapons, less hit chance
Besides tohse recomendation, wich are only my favorite things, heres a incouragment
Did you ever visit other games ot see how they are in multy player ? try joinign any populated server on [can' t say name of game for comercial reasons:p] for example, EVERYONE say "f***" "Lamer" "N00b" "idiot" [sorry]
Congratulations on keeping controll on void with so meny palyers and so meny systems strail, its olmost impossible

Well for one.
I think the armor upgrades could be a bit expensiver.
I think the price for a Nomad Titanium Armor Upgrade should cost around 20.000.000 Creds instead of 8.000.000

Re: In Game Frustrations
Having a really expensive armour upgrade would just mean that only the wealthy can be the most protected. As it stands today, without an Armour upgrade, players are meat in 1 - 2 shots. A big pain in the a** would be the fact the armour upgrades cannot be unmounted once they are bought and cannot be cataloged in armories. This is a real pain as I haven't been able to give new members armour upgrades.

Re: In Game Frustrations
I enjoy the journey. If its frustrating then remember to dock nearer your destination maybe? Just a thought thats all.
1. Docking in an AT - I know the thing is a bus. Would be nicer if the dock was a little smoother though - I find it difficult to "quick dock" without causing some damage - minor though it is, it is mildly irritating...
2. Can we be invulnerable to our own ordinance? Now don't laugh, this is serious. There is nothing in the world more irritating than trying to pull a fantastic move on an opponent to find that your "intelligent" mines are far from that! Same goes for torps - u fire it and then end up in front of the blasted thing...I can hear you all yell that its a matter of skill and practice - I suppose so, but its still irritating. ;) I dont want super homing spam torps or mines that are "fire and forget" - just ones that recognise their owners....
3. Instead of RESPAWN taking you back to your last dock (which is sensible in that you can restock and then re-enter the fray) Why not automaticaly switch to the NEAREST dock or even just respawn at random within the system? ( This however, does make restocking of ordinance difficult) eg you fly from NY to Sparta and get killed before you dock - rather than go all the way back to NY any chance you could emerge from the Abandoned City? Maybe even apply this to just the Heavy PvP areas such as Alexandria, Nomad 1 and Sparta.
4. I happen to kinda like the weapons setup at the moment - there is a balance between speed and power: You want speed - you loose power. You want power - you loose speed. Some of the missiles are all but ineffective, certainly the under level 7 ones at least when fighting against other players. Contrary to some I have no problem with missiles - it helps me improve my dreadful frags. Its just the "kill youself" Torps and Mines that I find frustrating. NPC's are ok. Sometimes you get ganged during a PvP - but hey, thats the Void, its a dangerous place.
Just the thoughts of an old space dog........

Re: In Game Frustrations
Thanks for this opportunity Strail. Now for the suggestions...
1. Give a navmap to systems that currently don't have them. For example, the various Nomad systems.
2. Make Hornet cds a purchasable item in Sparta's Abandoned City.
3. Make Tizona El Cids a purchasable item at Cutlass Base.
4. Decrease the munitions loadout on missles, torps and cds. Currently its at 120. Maybe to 80 rounds or even 50.
5. A good shield breaker with a particle rate of 900 m/s.
6. A Nomad gun with a fire rate of 5.88 and a particle rate of 900 m/s. For balance, it would have to be tuned to be less damaging than the Annihlator.
7. The possibility of doing missions in Omicron Delta at the Nomad Base.
8. 3 words: Black Nomad 1. The glowing azure background can be a real strain on the eyes.
9. Slow the Nomad Laser from 1200 to 1000 m/s.

Re: In Game Frustrations
I'll toss in my 1.5-cent's worth here:
NPC's should be a lot tougher. To all but the newest players there's not much challenge to a mission. Maybe that's why so many don't fight them... they say it's boring. Make it less boring. Besides that, with hostile NPC's about it'll make people more aware of the effects of reps, again adding to the challenge.
To balance that maybe there should be a few more places with no or few NPC's. It's really a PITA when you're fighting a close battle and the NPCs are harassing you or both.
Agree about the time it takes to get from here to there sometimes. Maybe a few more strategically placed jump gates or wormholes would be a good idea. I like the wormholes better, you should have to find them to use them.
I disagree about missiles. I've heard about the "imbalance" between guns and missiles. Bah. Gunners don't like missiles and call the use of them spamming. It's simply another style of fighting. Well brawlers don't like snipers either. Should we remove the sniping guns as well? Who's to say how you should fight? CM's are effective against missiles.unless you learn the skills to counter them. There are ways to counter sniping guns as well. Defense is half the battle and in fact I teach it's 2/3 of it. If you can't survive you can't damage your opponent. Don't remove the tools people don't like to fight against, make people learn how to defend against them.
AT's are a great trading ship. I don't mind they're slow and cumbersome. Something has to counter the benefit of using them. But they should not be so completely defenseless. Give them a better chance to survive. Give them shields.
Make it harder to kill yourself in the atmosphere of a planet. That would reduce planet-diving as well as those frustrating accidental deaths that ruin a PvP as well as bring out the "planet-diver" accusations when it really was an accident.
At the same time, there should be more damage when you crash into a station or another ship. In RL, assuming advanced spacecraft, crashing would be fatal. Make it at least so if your shields are down you don't survive a crash. Yes, I know that's a bit beyond the scope of what's frustrating but it does annoy me anyway, how unrealistic that is.
Enough. Don't want to be too long-winded, Savage. :D

Re: In Game Frustrations
I guess with AT's, their cargo allowance surely makes up for the disadvantages of being a slow, cumbersome and poorly protected ship, their cargo space is more than double that of any other ship.
Ammo most certainly is an annoying one. Hornets definitely need to be available at more locations and even more importantly, Firestalker ammo.
I've always had problems purchasing Firestalker ammo, even with full Europa rep, i still cannot buy them from Sparta. I have to travel as far as cutlass or nomad 1 just to be able to purchase them.
EFZ should also be able to cater for anyone with any reputation. I've seen in the past times where people were forced to situate at the Pirate base when none of the players involved had a pirate rep. Ammo should also be available with little to no reputation with the base faction. Considering EFZ was designed for PVP and tournament purposes, ammo should be available here whatever the case.

Re: In Game Frustrations
I find anoying that it takes ages to dock to a base, shoud go faster.
EFZ and Even System shoud have all possible ammo,Sparta-hornets :D
Its a shame that only 20 percent of systems are being mostly played at.Maybe weapons and ships coud be spread all over Sirius.Same goes for trade routes.
I dont like that npc's cant hurt you in most of original systems.Maybe it woud be interesting to see nomads, pirates, fugitives and stronger military / navy npc's in some other systems then we can see them in now ( why not all ).

Re: In Game Frustrations
Trade routes! Definitely a frustration, but not for the reason you might expect.
When the most lucrative trade routes were eliminated, the best example being in Tohoku. Sure, traders could make ridiculous amounts of $. But with such a short route they risked a ridiculous amount of fragging too. And that gave opportunities to a LOT of great RP. If we want to expand the use of the Void to more systems we need to begin by opening more "ridiculously lucrative" trade routes. Then come the rogues and pirates to prey on the traders. Then come the Navy (whose RP has languished lately due to "nothing to do") to hammer the bad guys, etc etc etc. Some of the best battles and confrontations I remember were in and around the Tohoku trader-run between Tekagi's and New Madrid.
The drawback might be some inflation. We can cure that by raising prices. *heh heh heh*

Re: In Game Frustrations
1. Missiles do their perscribed damage to everything and lower torp damage. One pass kills arent good fights, just extremely anti-climactic.
2. Decreasing travel times in the outer systems, perhaps a wormhole system (jumpholes that send you to another part of the system) or maybe just increasing cruise speed.
3. Personally i think if your going to have 120 CD's 120 Torps and 120 Missiles then we should get more then 120 cm's:
You fire one per pass from your mouse click (assuming theyre set to green)
You fire another from the CD
You fire a third when torps and missiles are launched.
How about 240-360 countermeasures, brcause in a larger or longer fight you run out in a 1 or 2 minutes.
4. @LIMAN. Having the void cramped into 20% of the freelancer world is part of the reason we've been so succesful. One thing that too many modder make the mistake of doing is having the "I want my mod bigger and better!!!!1" theory. They spread their playerbase, so instead of having 20 guys in sparta, 15 in unk2, 12 in nomad 1, and 20 in Alex/NB/NT/NL and the rest scattered around Sirius. they end up with 30 people on their server who are flung out every direction, person to person contact becomes limited and frustrating.
5. It always annoyed me that CD's could be used to disrupt engine kill, a good slide is tough to pull off and the solution should incolve technique and skill, and hitting a button over and over again until you land a hit doesnt require any T or S.
6. Finally, the alexandria trade route is simply too easy. I like this format: The riskier the trade run, the more profit.
Edit: Just a suggestion on the more dangerous more profit. The highest profit margin is around 3000 per unit (i think), so how about a super expensive, super high paying commodity (Purchased at 100,000 credits and sold at 115,000 at one CU per item) thats relatively quick but extremely dangerous (going through nomad, navy, and pirate areas). The run would cost around 120 mil on an AT but the payout would be massive at 18 mil per run.

I think eveyrthing is in order, nothing needs to be changed apart from the creation of some trade routes, which run through the most populeted systems. This should make fights more interesting, so far they seem fairly balanced with a few guns and ships in the way but you learn to over come those things if you can think.
The only thing that frustrates me is the ship selection, everyone flies the same old ships and they should because the ships they have are balanced and good, but there are many ships in this mod that look cool but nobody ever flies them like the Warren, Cobra and Claw for instance. If they were changed to the same stats of the most popular ships (depending on the look and size) and just as accessible (not having to spend ages getting a good rep to land on the base that sells it only to be hated by the npc's in the pvp systems). Also if newer versions of original FL ships like the Liberty: Defender, Rheinland: Valkyrie, Kusari: Dragon and Bretonia: Crusader so they have the same or similiar stats as the popular V.H.F ships because they look very cool.

Re: In Game Frustrations
ok this is my opinion :
1st i think every ships hould have 1 or 2 weapons wich do allot of dmg
whould reduce lag a bit , and a bit more realistic
cus tons of weapons sumetimes lag
2nd drop all original ships and sistems ,
make new sistems , and new ships and weapons , all new
just let ny in so new ppl can log in and stay on manhatan without mod and talk with admins if they got problems
this whould allso work with 1st thing , its simpler to make new ships with 1 weapon than to edit original
3rd in new ships
instead of armor upgrades it whould be nice to have new harpoints
transparent version of the ship ( every ship can have olny armor made for it) , a bit bigger lol
that whould look like ships have an additional small shield around them which cant recharge, is cheap to buy
if it gets destroyed and you land
4th in sistems
no planets , olny asteroids and bases
the planets should be on the starsphere itself like a big texture
whould make it look realistic
a big planet in background and allso sun in background
tho thats a big chalenge to do
but lol that whould make fl wery realistic
this what i said whould improve fl greatly , maybe eaven it whouldont look like fl anymore , but better
but its a great chalenge to do , and you whould need alot of moders
its all posible to make
you just need to find some voidians that whould like to learn to mod , teach them and you may achive a wery much better mod
