I haven't had much opportunity to play on the new server as college has started back for me and I'm taking 7 classes and working a job and supporting a family.  I'm very overwhelmed with RL atm but.........in regards to the server:

For the first 2 weeks it was terrible for me.....after contacting my ISP I found out it wasn't Void, it was my connection.  For example (no joke) I was getting 10% loss when I pinged www.yahoo.com ....... you can imagine my loss %% when I was in game lol  :)   It is fixed now and I have a great connection speed and NO loss!!  :D

After that the server seemed to run great.
Dude, same. How did you fix it?

I voted that it was about the same.

Well first I went from a WPA-PSK security key to just a WEP security key.  That seemed to work a lot better but what made it EVEN better was when I just disconnected my wireless connection and connected a hardwire lan cable to the computer.

Once I did that everything was super smooth and super fast.  But I can't say this is a 100% fix because I've only played about 4 times in the last month but so far it seems great.  So far so good though.

I dont see any difference to the new server then the old server. Instead of like the old server the lag and so on builds up, the lag on this server seems to have a pattern it comes in spurts  :-?

I have an uber broadband connection 8meg and my pc is a bit of a beast so i can play full spec and it hasnt changed at all since the old server but red lag seems to appear at intervals, which it never used to do, i only ever got yellow lag when it got really bad (30 people all fighting at the same time) and its happening to everyone else that i fight with. The only explenation then is that more ppl seem to have slower pc's then before.

Lag hasnt been a big concern for me, its just when it comes everynow and then you have to wait for it to pass or its too late making things akward. Sry to be a negative :|

Personally, I love it to pieces.

My ping is EXACTLY the same as before but now I suffer less loss (but it was only intermittent before anyway).

The REAL difference has been in the effect of serverload. If serverload increases over 60ms then missiles fail to track locked targets because the server is too busy calculating weapon hits, damage, collisions and motion of other players in other places but to date, EVERY missile I've felt the need to fire has tracked it's target which means serverload has been virtually eliminated as a cause of problems.

Just to point out something regarding lag, there are three kinds.

Network lag or latency caused by the time it takes packets to get to the server and back diplayed in miliseconds by the ingame /ping command (-50 brilliant, 50-100 good, 100-150 ok, 150-200 noticeable lag, 200-300 very noticeable lag, 300+ virtually unplayable lag)

Network loss caused by packets of data being sent by you or the server failing to reach their destinations, this more than anything will affect your ability to play. Displayed as a percentage by the ingame /loss command (0% perfect, 0-10% slight loss, 10-20% noticeable odd behavior, 20-50% very noticeable odd behavior, 50-90% barely playable, 90-100% just forget it and reconnect)

Slowdown caused by either you cpu or video card being overstretched (other causes include bus bottlenecking and virtual memory use) when this happens the number of seperate images per second created by the game on your monitor decrease. To maintain the illusion of smooth motion your computer needs to be able to produce at least 25 frames per second (more than twice the number of seperate images the human eye can see in 1 second). There is no ingame command for this but third party apps like fraps (www.fraps.com) can display your frame rate. Turn down details or screen resolution if your framerate is very low (60+ you're rocking, 40-60 great, 25-30 good, 20-25 beginning to be noticeable, -20 visibly stuttery and slow)

All three of these factors contribute to "lag" while playing and almost all of them are referred to as "lag" by people who don't really understand what's happening.
