Re: REVOLUTION- all clan ldrs read this!!!-and admins
I agree that there are alot of clans, but that doesn't mean its a bad thing.
Sure you need to remember where everybody is in role play, but that makes it so good. Role Play.
I've been away for a couple of months and when i came back i saw alot of new clans.
When i first came here ( with another char ) the Void was just getting started. A few clans and a couple of people online. This server was testing alot and players in it helpt.
After that i had to move city's and i couldnt play for a long time because of internet issues.
Then i came back and i started a clan. It was a nice roleplay clan, but didnt last long, because i wanted to have a little clan of people that know eachother in and out. After a couple of members i know to well had to leave i had to retire my clan.
Later i busted my pc and it took along time for me to get another one.
So now i'm back.
Point is, i have seen the void from its roots and i'm really proud of the A-team to bring this server to one of best -if not thé best- Freelancer Server out there.
This server really has grown and its because everyone can join and have a good time here.

I am against kiling clans. If 3 people want to play together under their own tags- who is hurt?
I am a really old void veteran, and what made this server great (besides an excellent admin team) is the players.
YOU need to do something to have fun.
Lets not forget either that freelancer is old, and some former great servers already died off. But VOID? We have 50+ ppl online during some times, which is more than most freelancer servers ever had.
And if we drop clans, who decides which go? On which criteria?
You are 666 right? would you drop your tags and (for example) join saints? Not because you want to change... just because someone decided you have to?
A lot of clans here have a long history, and partly that is the lifeblood of VOID too.
If someone new comes, makes a new clan, and its small.. so what? Either they will die out soon, and no harm is done... or they will thrive and prosper, and become a new force on VOID, enriching the community.

Re: REVOLUTION- all clan ldrs read this!!!-and admins
I think there should be only few clans that are huge and all and option of free clan making but those "Clans" would not be clans but just groups of ppl and they could not own systems they can just have their home base, they could take on jobs from big clans like be hired or something they could also be "Outlaws" for pirates and Corps for good guys and something neutral like Privaters or something. And also i think all clans should disband and make new ones but with option that lets say Syndicate disbands and all active members will make the clan called Syndicate again buy that way inactive players would be eliminated this way events would be easier clan wars would be more intresting and i think some rules should be made in clan fight like if you die ur dead go out of system and you cant come back in fight. Or something like that.

Re: REVOLUTION- all clan ldrs read this!!!-and admins
So this comes up again. About 2 or 3 times a year this comes up. Usually between each of these discussions another half dozen clans have sprouted up.
Reading all these ideas and opinions the first thing that I thought of was, it's clear to me what makes the Void so great: Look at this thread. There's not one post here that isn't obviously the result of someone who really cares about the Void. When I think about that , no one is ever going to convince me the Void is dying out or ever will.
As I read through all the thought I found myself agreeing with this opinion or that one and each one made me think a little more and maybe made me reform my opinion a little. But there are a few thoughts that really stand out:
Pirgoroev wrote: "I think that Void will lose it`s savour and originality if all existing clans will be disbanded. Because every clan is unique" ..... "its good when Admins are doing something that already was here, but they make it better, and its very-very bad and comfortless in most of the cases when they are trying to innovate smth new that they thinking is good, but most of players are thinking is bad. So, I`ve come to conclusion that evolution is better than revolution. Take what we all like on Void and make it better"
Amen to that, brother! You couldn't say it better. Change is one thing but tearing down the house to build another one, that takes away all the flavor and spirit and history of the old house. I like the idea of renovating our home and evolving it into something better for everyone. To me, taking apart the older clans and their legacy to the Void wold be a terrible disservice to the Void's history and community.
Harvox wrote: "A clan is a kind of group of some players which like to play together and are good mates. And if they become more and more, they start to form themselves as a clan for beeing a real force with a name. You can't just forbid other players to make.....uhm....."permanent groups" "
Whoa! Now there's a though! Exactly right on the nose. Friends play together and form groups and groups become clans. Who's going to say, you have to play with these guys now, because your group is too small! Yes, that's not saying this group can't stay together but it is saying this group can't be unique.
NuclearWinter wrote: "Everybody can make clans, maybe this is 1 of the good things here. Some make a noobish clan what is for us? Target practice :x "
Can't say anything about that to put it better. Put them together in groups and they're easier to find...

WIth all the new games that come out every month it's indeed amazing so many do play FL still. But the fact that the Void remains one of (if not THE) most active and innovative servers is more than amazing. It should be a source of pride for every one of the community here. So again, to tear it apart would be a great disservice to the Void.

There's the real point. Sums up the whole thing. No one should be able to tell you how to play the game. We all play because we love Freelancer and we're here because we love the Void. One of the things that makes the Void what it is, is the people and the community. (Plus it's one kick-a** mod!) Because of the freedom this community givers its players, there is no end to the possibilities to what yo can do. The sky's the limit. Better yet, where else does the Admin Team let you say what you think will make the mod better and then ACTUALLY USE MANY OF THE IDEAS in the next mod???
In the end, it's the players.
I wouldn't change a thing that didn't come about on it's own. The fact you write this thread shows you care about the Void, m8. The fact that you can shows how great the Void really is. The fact that we're all listening shows the Void cares about you. Don't stop with the ideas. And don't get annoyed if everyone doesn't agree.

Re: REVOLUTION- all clan ldrs read this!!!-and admins
The number of players active on the server and the number of active clans have NO relationship to each other. This is a ridiculous assumption.
And to try and force a mandatory MERGING of all like RP clans is just stupid.
Clans on the void are like a family. Just because you have the same RP as another clan doesn't mean you have to particularly ally with that clan or agree with them on their beliefs.
Each clan is a unique group of family members that come onto Void for one common interest, to enjoy each others time.
Players would stop leaving if there wasn't so much moaning and headache associated with playing on a game where pvp'ing and killing is ENCOURAGED!
No offenses meant but it frustrates me to see most my friends have left also.

Re: REVOLUTION- all clan ldrs read this!!!-and admins
Ok here`s my feel on this. I totally agree this isn`t a good idea. The point is this. Yes Void has lost some of the player base in the past 2-3 moths. But The Void is certainly not dying. If you come online in the evening (between 8 PM - 2 AM GMT) you`ll see an average of 55-60 players online. Yes that 40 players short since the time we had 100+ players on but hey? I personally don`t know any other FL servers that active.(and trust me I`ve been through a lot of FL severs)
The way I see it we are going through a period of low activity. But that doesn`t mean that the Void is dying. Not by a long shot. So what if they are too many clans? The whole beauty of the Void is that you can do pretty much you put y`ar head to here. If you want to start a clan you can do it. Ripping away all clans and melding them in a new form of organization would be terrible. First of all the clan leaders will never see eye to eye, especially if we talk about rival clans. Chaos will reign supreme. Then you`ll see how the player base of Void gets smaller and smaller. I`m a clan leader myself. The FTP has been here for what? about 3(maybe more) months now. Now that might not be much, but it`s something. And we`re far from dead. I personally(thinking of my own clan) would hate to be forced into a universal Pirate clan, with all the other pirates around. The beauty is that Void is realistic. Let`s think about it: Pirates, even if they have the same common goals (e.g. pillage and plunder) they can still be rivals and have their own areas of influence. The same goes for the navy and evil clans.
Indeed there is a point behind the statement that there are too many clans. Many new people want to ride with the "old space dogs"(not referring to a clan in specific hehe
), to be as powerful as the "vets". So let them try! Let them prove to themselves they are capable of this. Or at least try. The ones who will love this place are tough enough will stick it up and eventually earn the respect of the "regular" community. Heck, I still try to tough it out and hang out with the old, really old "vets" around here hehe. And I tell ya, that`s not always easy.
That`s because as a new player y`ar enthusiastic. As an old one y`ar use to the stuff here and the people. People don`t always enjoy enthusiasm and don`t always have the patience to deal with new people.
The way I see it that`s just part of the color and diversity of this great place we call The Void, our "home" in part of our spare time.

I think your idea is ok, but wait til the new mod comes out
When that happens people will flock to the server to see if old issues were resolved, and what new ones they can point out.

Revolution eh?
http://voidserver.com/modules.php?name= ... ic&t=16511
OK, ill start out wiht an overveiw of our current status:
We have 35 clans. 25 of which (ill list if needed) have under 5 active members. And all but 2 or 3 of the clans never have more then 3 or 4 members online at their most active point in the day.
So answer this. Whats more fun, 10 active clans or 35 less-inactive clans?\
I vote the first.
I propose first we tighten the clan requirments to become official. To be honest, anyone can recruit five members in a day. The real test is holding your members (most new clans recruit fresh new players which often leave the server in a matter of days) so it is not at all uncommon to see a new clan spring up with 10 members online at once, become official, and die a few week later. Instead of the current restrictions try something more time based. Being able to hold 5 active players over the course of 3 weeks is a feat worthy of the official status and would greatly help weed out the less commited clans.
I dont want to stomp on the voids history here but the older clans need a good nutshot back in gear as well, for thats partially the root of the clan-fever. Who wants to join an inactive clan if you can just make your own. Not sure how to deal with that.
Comments?
Been said.
Fact o' the matter is peeple might like the idea but no ones gonna act on it. To be honest i feel its bending the rules to be an official clan and have under 5 active players since you'll see its clearly written that in order to get your own clan space you need at least 5 active players. I really find it hard to beleive that clans and players have the balls to take initiative and reform the entire clan system.
A note though, i dont hink anyone is saying inactive clans need to delete their tags and join a new clan, thats ridiculous. All i'm (we're) saying is save the clan forum area for active clans, when a new player walks along and just see's dozens upon dozens of clans on the list he/she would probably be a little put off (as i was originally). So to all the small clanners who feel like this is an assault: Don't.
Lets be honest here now, freelancer is losing more people then its gaining, so is the void. Clan reform is one of many ways we can slow this down and regain our activity for many months to come but at the moment i dont beleive the void is just having a a moment of inactivity, i think its its just sinking with the ship but there are still thousands of players playing freelancer and we can easily sustain high activity if we can attract more players and keep them.

LOL
ok first i cant belive that kind of topic was posted less then 1 mongt ago lol
second
yes its true that people create clans for less then 2 monght ad then disapeer
yes the void has its up and theres down thats the way of live (the ups and down not the game
)
and like xenon say creating a clan is no easy job
creating a 3 member clan is VERY easy but making a 10 member very-online clan is extremelly hard
for many year i see this happening clan leader leave or member leave because it got boring RL is allways more important
true that joining clans together could make a greater and stronger clan but that wil also be extremelly hard
for example (just a example not for real)
666 clan and SYN clan forming into 1 BIG clan
first who's going to be leader 666 clan leader or SYN clan leader?
new name for the new formed clan
need new section on void forum etc etc
what im trying to say is that the year just started wait until more people show up or that strail finishes the mod(cant wait longer:P)
and like some1 said that i cant remember
THE VOID HAS SUVIVED FOR ABOUT 5 YEAR
so i think the only time that void and freelancer "might" disapper
is freelancer 2 "if" it comes out
PS i see "official" clan leader VERY online BBD AOF 666 FTP TRAID SYN KNIGHT N*O ESF NS SAMURAI EU(a bit) 4S and many more!!
so dont say there not active be 2 year on void and youll see people VERY active
love
electra

Righto then.
Clans are still mostly inactve and freelancer is still losing more then its gaining.
So whos been saying clans are easy to lead?
No one, thats kinda why nearly all of them have under five players.
Who's talking about merging clans?
You see clan leaders?
What about the clans, ya hardly find more then 2 or 3 online at a time.

Uhh... freelancer isnt exactly starcraft. Your very wrong there electra, activity has been on a steady decline far various reasons including the pain-in-the-ass interface with vista, Freelancer is no longer on the storeshelves, and well... people are getting bored of it. But as i previously stated, thousands still play and if we can attract and keep a decent chunk of them then the void will be alive and screaming for years to come.

I agre that some changes are needed but killing clans is not the way.
Yes there are many noobish clans that dissapear fast.Stricter rules for making clans shoud be introduced.
Maybe it woud be a good thing to put someone in charge of helping new clans with pvp training and other stuff.
And what about obligatory recruitment for all clans-each clan must recruite X number of newbie players and train them. This way clans coud grow.
New mod will attract ppl,but i think more events are needed-diferent events than we had so far.

Re: REVOLUTION- all clan ldrs read this!!!-and admins
Wow - Long thread to read. So I wll do a Watchwolf and throw in my twopence worth..
@Xenon - your kidding, right? That idea would kill this place deader than a dead thing from deadsville.
AoF has (according to the Global Listings) 14 active members. Every so often we do a "spring clean" of inactive members. We have some associated tags and [T] that dont appear on the register because they are not linked as official clans due to an early typing mistake, so on the whole we have probably anything between 14 - 20 people all told. This was not easy to set up. I have felt like ditching it at least twice but thanks to the members and Void players I have been encouraged to keep it going.
Clans come and go. BBD (as stated) are at a low point right now, but I for one wont see that tag disappear. There is a legacy behind that tag that wont die easily.
For a short while there was no real activity on the New Clan front as most new players were looking to join the established groups already in existence - so your "ideal" FL Void was, for a while, already in place. That changed. These things happen in cycles. Look at the relatively recent influx of players that pushed the numbers online through the roof. There are still a large number of Freelancers out there who do not have any affiliation to any particular clan. Think about this too. You had a good look round and had a pick and choose out of the variety of clans before deciding to apply for 666 membership. If you had come online and saw 3 clans - Navy / Pirate / Trader I have a funny feeling that you would not hang around for long.
I feel that the rules for establishing a clan are sufficient as they stand. To get 5 members and clock up the necessary hours and to lead a group like it is NOT easy.
If anything there should be a "probation" period of, lets say 1 month before you get your own space on the forums. That way the administrators and other players can get to see how serious you realy are about your clan or group.
If the leader of the clan says he is done and has had enough, is leaving the Void forever and if the clan cannot get someone to take over, then their forum space needs to be deleted and a message sent out to the other members to consider deletion of tagged characters. It would be more of a way to self regulate and to "tidy up" any loose ends. The best example I can think of is the VAGU clan. One of the biggest (if not the best) pirate clans on the Void. When I first arrived, it had started to grow and then it expanded like a balloon. Then.. It Went Pop. Currently I believe that there is only one tagged player flying VAGU colours on the Void. As it is the server deletes characters that are not utilised over a 60 day period (please correct me if I am wrong)
So there is already a "tidy up" process in place.
I believe that Samuria almost lost their forum due to lack of online time - but two of them came back and the clan is again growing.
What you will also witness is players arriving on the Void with tags from other clans in other servers seeking to break new ground and scout the place out. It can sometimes make the place feel a little crowded. Some clans have deliberately set up separate trading entities. In my VOID role I have seen some players tagged as one group and then switch over to another in order to fulfil some other function. So in truth whilst there appears to be two clans it is in fact - just one. The other factor is that when one clan starts to come apart at the seems, many of the players will seek out a clan to join once their old clan has packed it in. Its not a vast amount, but I inherited two good players when their clan disbanded. Once you have been here a little longer you will begin to see how fluid this place is.
If you are worried about this place disappearing due to lack of new blood then buy everyone you know a copy of Freelancer and give it to them for Christmas......
I will go with Pregoroev - EVOLUTION not revolution. The Void has evolved and will continue to do so. As part of the 666 clan I would get online and play as often as you have the patience to do so. I will have to vote NO on this issue - however there is nothing beats a good spring clean in order to clear the cobwebs so to speak.
Whatever else you do - dont stop playing.....
