[quote="Zebulon";p="149547"]@ Symbol - "Lies, darn Lies and Statistics!" (someone famous once said that) So - Voidserver is ranked number one on the Global server list? Cant say I looked recently. I am certain that we have more than 6 clans in the top 100 Global.. But lets not get all worried about Global statistics - lets look a little closer to home - Its not the numbers in a clan - its the ACTIVITY in a clan that counts surely?
1 [BBB] 10 12,929 73
2 [KBA] 15 9,620 73
3 [Netsphere] 7 6,245 71
4 [+tng+] 6 5,177 74
5 [TSF] 22 4,289 55
6 [Eclipse] 10 3,872 61
7 [AoF][A] 14 2,714 63
8 [RAPTORS] 17 1,943 51
9 [PT] 5 1,723 55
10 [AlphaForce] 5 1,550 56
(sorry its not better presented) The 2nd number in the lines is the number of clan members - 3rd column is the number of NPC's killed and I think the last column is the global position (I will stand corrected if that is not so) - that gives you an idea of the spread - AoF are ranked 7 with 14 members while Netsphere are ranked 3rd with only 7 members - go figure....? Reducing the number of clans and trying to amalgamate various smaller clans will only lose you players. Its up to the clan leaders to carry out regular pruning of players that are inactive for a given period of time - My limit is 60 days and I issue a post. If there is no response I will ask the ADMIN team to delete the unused characters - That way you dont clutter up the stats with unused players.
Taking a look at the overall Global positions we find this:
5 - BBB
13 - KBA
20 - Netsphere
25 - [+tng+]
34 - TSF
37 - Eclipse
54 - [AoF][A]
91 [PT]
So, taking the average rank / cash / kills (NPC's) we have 8 clans in the global 100. A big part of that is the fact that most of our clans prefer to PvP than to "red dot" hunt. Just because a clan doesnt appear in the Global 100 doesnt mean that Voidserver is on the decline - I personaly believe that this is a seasonal thing, it goes in cycles and radically changing the clan system will be detrimental to this server.
The point is that you can make statistics say anything...[/quote]
I'm not making stats up your just looking at the wrong stats, those clans just have a couple of rich players or a few red dotters with big hit lists. Try sorting the clans by members as i said i did above the list and you'll see. NPC Kills and money have really nothing to do with clan activity, and this thread is about clan activity.

Re: REVOLUTION- all clan ldrs read this!!!-and admins
Having read all the postings on this topic, I agree most strongly with the posting from Strail, we should all help new players as I have tried to do in the past, and not indulge in mindless killing of new players. We all want to play the game and the server to be popular, for the server to continue we need new players to replace the ones who cease to play.
There probably are some issues regarding the number of clans, god knows I have trouble deciding what role play some of the new clans are supposed to be, but these are minor problems. I have played on quite a few of the other servers and found the void to be the best overall so I only play here now. Some of the other servers have events which were quite good, the bounty hunt on Jolt I believe was quite a good event. What we should be looking at are ways to improve the overall experience on the server to make people want to play, anyway must dash have a snooker match to play, a real life one.

Re: REVOLUTION- all clan ldrs read this!!!-and admins
All I said before was what I agreed with about what other people posted. Maybe I could toss my own 1 1/4-cent's worth here:
The Void server isn't a box in a rack somewhere in Germany. It's not the mod installed on the box. It's not the game the mod emulates.
It's the people. What would the Void be without the people? The players? With that in mind I try to look at the Void from the macro view. In other words, I try to look at it from my small point of view toward the big picture, rather than from the big picture trying to focus on my (or anyone else's) single point of view.
So when I think about this topic I can't help thinking about from the perspective of what's good for the server and what's harmful for the server as a whole.
What's good is getting as many people together to play and interact and have fun. No matter how they get together, no matter what style or RP or level of experience, just as long as they play, enjoy it and don't do anything to take away from anyone's fun while they're at it.
Clans are good because they get people together, offer companionship and make things interesting. The clan is more than just how many play together at once, it's the way the people in it play and the RP they choose (if they choose one) and the fun they have going at the game that way. Big clan, small clan, old clan, new clan, it doesn't matter. To say it does is like saying a big family is better than a small family or a big city is better than a county filled with small towns. Or vice-versa.
What's bad is anything that takes away fun for the players, the freedom to play the way they want to, anything that forces people to play a different way than they are happy and comfortable playing. Telling people their small clan that only gets to play together once in a while has to go because it's not as big or active as others think it ought to be is definitely not good for the server and its players because it takes away the player's freedom to play the way they have the most fun playing. It doesn't matter how many clans there are or how many people are in them. It matters that when people log in to the Void they can find ways to enjoy it in the way they choose. 9 times out of 10, if a player's not enjoying the Void it's because someone is interfering with their ability to play the game the way they want to. Therefore we probably should be putting 90% of our efforts into making sure people get to play the way they have the most fun.
To me it's as simple as that.

Re: REVOLUTION- all clan ldrs read this!!!-and admins
Well. You think that clan leaders should forge one big clan?
Sorry to say it mate.. But your wrong. As it has been mentioned leading a clan is EXTREMELY hard. I remember when BBD was first made with me ent and const in it. As it grew so did the power of BBD. After that when ent / const fell out for what ever reason. So did alot of other people leave. And yes. Who was left to pick up the pieces? Me ^^. Now it was hard as hell. 666 were very big at that time. And it wasnt easy fighting through them with the amount of players we had. But it takes alot of strength to do things like this.
As you can remember BBD hit the high point. When 10+ BBD members would be on to fight back the forces of DTA 666 EU. But how do we do this. By having a great friendship and understanding of each other. And you cant do that by putting a bunch of people in a group and telling them to fight. Wheres the background? Do these players know eachother? Can they be friends? Do they despise each other? all these things decide wether a clan can fight with each other or not.
And you say that everyone that thinks you are right should send you a PM and discuss making a clan? And your going to lead them i suppose? Thats a pretty big step for some people. I dont think they would want to leave there clan mates and friends just to make one big clan. It aint gunna happen. And believe me. Holding up a clan on VOID is alot harder than you may want to think.
Also i KNOW i wouldnt let BBD die? Why? Because it has some great people and friends in its ranks. Sure we can tplay 24/7. Because we have lives to to run around in. I would rather staand up to the super power and be raped. Then to join them ^^.
So if you manage to pull it off. Good luck. As im sure it will be quite hard to keep
Greaver.

Re: REVOLUTION- all clan ldrs read this!!!-and admins
Some good points lads.
As Greaver said, it certainly isn't easy running a clan. It may seem as simple as setting up a new character with a brand spanking new tag but It really isn't. Keeping a clan going is the hardest element of it all. Despite there are quite a few clans around today, there have been hundreds of new clans in the past, and a lot of which no one will be able to remember as they existed for such a short space of time. Player morale is the most important factor I think. In a lot of clans, there will always be what I would call a 'low season' where players disappear, take leaves of absence and whatnot.
This can easily cause some clans to die unless the members are willing to bridge the gap of communication between its members. I'm sure most of us keep in contact with each other outside of the game, I'm sure this would mainly consist of instant messaging which is a good thing. Communication between the members of a clan is an essential element in keeping a clan alive so all members are informed on where people are and what stands etc.
It is a shame to see that many players don't share the same clan-loyalty some of us do. A lot of players of the present day would have been in numerous clans, testing the water from all the different ponds. When I first came here, I was a pirate, first clan I joined was a pirate clan, later to move on to BBD. I have been in three clans in total and I know fore well where my friends are.
Us British Bull Dogs have always been in good spirits, we never argue with each other, were all honest with each other and were almost always happy with who we fly alongside. We constantly have the motivation to improve and have some good fights and this will never change. We are always keeping in touch, whether or not in game, it be via txt messaging just to know that we still exist. We have had countless laughs on TeamSpeak, even with our dated opposition of the time DTA. We would fight and have a laugh.
In the modern day there seems a lot of downsides, a lot of deception and secrecy which players like to commit to. Players hide from their own clanm8s under different names and so on, generating a kind of instability in the clan. It's just a shame that the ideal clan is simply a thing of the past now.
Anyway, my few cents.
Lloyd

Re: REVOLUTION- all clan ldrs read this!!!-and admins
[quote="Strail";p="149550"]Dont worry.............
Each year this happens player numbers drop off and then in the winter and darker nights more players spend there time playing.
There is no reason to change the infrastructure of the game/server, its the same as when we had 115 players online.
The way to get the numbers back up is to maintain a friendly server, so that players want to play here...this is more important than anything else. New players join all the time, the key is to ensure that they stay and this wont happen if they are repeatedly killed within 20 minutes of joining the server.
You see when you look at the server and community, the ONLY way to keep the server popular is to have people who visit the server enjoy their experience. Its upto each and every player to make sure that they can do this by being polite and thinking a little bit more about the impact they have on other players.
Players who are repeatedly killed leave the server, players who are helped, welcomed etc are more than likely to revisit.
In summary, there is no need to change the server or current situation, there is a need for players to be less selfish and help other new players out, not by giving them money, but by taking the time to say Hi, asking if there ok, or need help and even giving them tips on trade runs. Communicating with a new player for a few minutes will make a big difference between him staying or leaving. Killing him "because its our roleplay" will more than likely make him leave. You dont need to hold his hand all the time he's on, a friendly " green me if you need help" should be your parting chat with the player.
Dont forget, many people who join the server haven't played MP before, they dont know why they have been killed and DO take it personally.
Heres an example for you......Me and my son joined another server last year and I was talking him through everything and helping him out/get going. As I know the server owner, he set us up with some cash.Along comes this pirate and kills my son.
Ok, im pretty annoyed, but understand how it happens, so i green the pirate and ask him not to do it as my son is new to MP and still getting the hang of it....totally ignored. We launch again and guess what within 5 minutes he's back again and kills my son. MY son says he's had enough and doesnt want to play MP anymore.
Now, my son loves FL, he plays SP a lot (more than I ever did) and has finished the game about 3 times over, but he cant understand why someone would just kill him for no reason. Now, he doesnt want to play MP.
This is why I get annoyed about indescriminate killing of players. The fact is, if you kill a player, you know how good they are. If their hopeless at pvp, why kill them again and again? Basically if you can kill a player in one or two passes then its not a pvp is it?
Sorry its a long "in summary" but players do need to remember that it has to be fun for all, not just you![/quote]
.........and for me admins need restart the options of the server example the bounty hunter mission ! i know a lot of people that was leave for this!
I see some time the EVENT staff make the bountyhunter event but it isnt cool how a bounty mission where i can find a people alone or in group! or start a bounty mission on my self with escort for give fun to other players!
A new mod with new sistems and ships yeah that is cool, but the best of an server isnt it but have much options for have fun !!! an example look hamburg it have only 2,3 new systems some new ships but it have a lots of server options, the bounty mission, the server trade missions, the server fight missions and etc...etc...
that is the problem for me not others!
bye guys and cya in space

Each year this happens player numbers drop off and then in the winter and darker nights more players spend there time playing.
There is no reason to change the infrastructure of the game/server, its the same as when we had 115 players online.
The way to get the numbers back up is to maintain a friendly server, so that players want to play here...this is more important than anything else. New players join all the time, the key is to ensure that they stay and this wont happen if they are repeatedly killed within 20 minutes of joining the server.
