how to be polite on void

Hi, im new on the void and a noob on freelancer  : ).  Due to my lack of skills i choose to play like a rogue   [r]..... well, i know is hard to play with a char like this (if you rol it).

  I choose a rogue because i think i can enter on a system and attack (even a pro) by surprise, and win....... with a rogue, i can kill someone by surprise, that is my only chance to kill anyone. As i said, im noob.

OK...... most people on this server dont use bots and bats, this seems to be polite, it is a non-written rule. (seems to be)

So.....  i travel  a lot of systems with loads of cargo, and a hunter or someone else (im a rogue, anyone can kill me) is chasing me ..... well..... i am lost..... that´s the game.
i will not complain, thats rogue life and i like it

this is the way i handle my char for now but......

  i hide on tartarus, for example,  where scanners efficiency is reduced, hiding, to ambush 3 guys of the same clan, thinking on kill the first of them and run .

  i only want to surprise them, kill the first who appears on my  nav map an run like a rat . im not  [r] coward, only a noob.

  the guy comes, and i attack him by surprise.....

he regen

i kill him again..... NOOOO...

he regen again

his friends arrive, and i kill 1 of them (killed?, no...... cause he regen) ? s 1



of course, they finally killed me.

no regen means only on offrol pvp??????????????

The unwritten (I guess now written lmao) Rogue's rules of regenning:

1.  A rogue may regen 1 time for every extra player he is outnumbered that is attacking him.  (|_/\_| idea  :D )

2.  A rogue may regen if his target is jumping like a rabbit on crack.

3.  A rogue may regen if his target regens.

4.  A rogue can regen if he feels like being a jerk to the person attacking him.

These are some of the codes most other R's and myself follow, sometimes we do this and sometimes we don't.  For the most part the R's I know will NOT regen.  I will usually dock if I require repairs.  I guess it really depends on our moods.

Regens are part of the game..  Like it or not, they are part of the game.

In invited pvp, the rules of engagement are sorted out before hand.  In a surprise attack, there are no rules of engagement.

Now, with that said, most players here don't regen or even carry bots and bats.  However, it's not against the rules in any way shape or form.

Just remember those players in the future and decide if you want to attack them because you know that they will regen.

Also, if they regen, there is no shame in doing so yourself.

Yes they are part of the game but to fight with honor and balls i think it's not a good idea to regen as it's just idiotic i understand if your a mission and you regen when someone else is there but not in a Ghost move it's just not cool...

Regening in combat . that is the weazals way out.

little tip,  dont regen in combat, yes I know not a rules says you cant, but to save alot of greif, dont do it.

The people who play here are somewhat tempermental, or maybe even just a little mental, and regening in a battle may even provoke your few allies to turn against you.

Nothing worse then being on the winning side of a battle ( 3 on 1) then regen ( either on purpose or accident) and have your "allies make it 3 on 1 against you.

For those who are in clans, I believe each clan has rules pertaining to regenning in battle, some do some dont,

Take into note Urami's posting, it actually sounds pretty logical for a rogue to use that plan.

just remember one thing, have fun , surprise attacks are easy, but I suggest you practice in PVP, so you can hold your own without it.

How to be polite....interesting question. I have same experiences here and a lot of players told me void is server for everyone doing everything...well, so the answer is. Expect the worst, you won't be surprised and you can be polite, because expecting the worst by everyone, you can be only nicely surprised....

And for regens....I suppose within the community of players, no regenning is better. Urami's guidance for rogue sounds good, but won't take long. Best will be no bts&bbs for everyone. I suppose, player who take rogue should be damn good, or have to known he is in the deep, deep.....most of the time.

But because many ppl here are doing that, for me, I use it only when talking and someone destroy my hull to one point to be sure after chat he wins. These scums are really poor, so I feel free to regen just before the fight is on. This is with my neutral char, with clan X char, well, there is a different situation so no regen at all, only when opponent use them massively.

I know I'm not playing on the server again yet... but I know what regening and fair pvp's and other fights mean to me...
1. I'll regen in misions against npc and if some ppl is about to attack me while i fight npc's
2. I wont regen if my fight is a 1v1 even if he regens
3. I wont even regen if I need to fight against multiple ppl...just telling them that it wasnt a really fair fight for me
4. I dont have problems in dying by getting shot from behind , but I dont respect such persons....
well, I think that's it ....my way of seeing this
noone needs to follow me , I wont make someone do so....

Hmm.....interesting topic.  I did a bit of research.  Its like TIODS says - its an agreement that you reach BEFORE starting a PvP.  Any other time is fine by the server rules.   Just so those that would be out to get me in the game know - I will regen - and here are the circumstances under which I would do so.

1. Im in a weedy ship with nix guns or shields and Im going to attempt to run for it.

2. Im on a mission and its been rudely interupted by some "bad guy" who is out to kill me.

3. If Im ambushed and want to make a run for it.

4. While Im trying to dock (especially with cargo).

I WONT regen if :

1. Having regened I turn to fight my opponent. (it then becomes a PvP)

2. Its a Free For All.

3. Im in a weedy ship with nix guns or shields and Im NOT going to even bother attempting to run for it .

4. My mum calls and Im AFK.

Ill never regen in combat its a clan rule for us even if Im out numbered by Rogues  Ill still say gf and then Ill pick out the weakest  of the group kill them first the 1vs1 the best fighter of the group... of course thats if Im on my destop computer if im on a laptop computer thats another story ill hope that I can sneak a missle in through all the lag it has and  try to move alot to advoid there weapons

look in a nut shell traders regen, because like someone said hard to spin an at around and take out a fighter.

but no one in a fighter who is attacking or pvp should regen period. if you get jumped to bad fight and die with honor. if you get jumped you were not paying close enugh attention to who is around you and in your system. pay more attention you wont get jumped. oh and if you fly a [r] you dont regen you are a target at all times you should not even have bot and bats.

now being polite there are some who will camp on a base and try and jump you once you hit dock and try to take you out before docking sequence starts, very rude.

others will not say gf very rude i dont care what your clan policy is its rude not to have enough manners to say gf weather you win or lose. if you dont agrre i dont care its a game and to keep it a game and not it a personal thing say gf it wont kill you.

very rude attacking someone who is in a mission with a bunch of high level npc. that person has their hands full dont bother them, its very rude. have you ever notice that some players only attack when they can use the cover of 8 or more npc , so the npc spam you with cd and you missles dont hit and that way they can kill you, a real pvp'er would wait and take you on 1vs1. but they are very rude.

listen i dont even like to pvp but i know that you have to use a little manners when you PLAY A GAME, i dont care about you role play it still a game.

like the liitle note on the void says, being polite and helpful cost you nothing.

Wise words from a wise man.  There are always going to be times when you are going to get angry and annoyed, either because of something someone did or maybe even something that you did that was not well recieved.   ADMIN Elessar pointed out the obvious: When you are typing messages you have to take a short time to think about what you are going to say and then type it.  This means that there is no excuse for bad language and insults.  Think them by all means - even shout at the screen - but NEVER type it.  I have no hesitation in banning people after they have been given the Zeb "one more bad  word"  warning.   Etiquette is another minefield.  For new players it is a confusing problem - you realy need to read up on what the different clans are about.  That reduces the risk of unfortunate "surprises".  One of the big problems at the moment is the unfortunate reappearance of F1 abuse - this time by traders.  They make sure they are far enough out of range at the sight of a predator and then F1 out  - denying the player a kill or a chase.  I have no problem with you outrunning me or pulling a docking "trick", but to F1 out moments after you have seen my tag is sad in the extreme.  F1 was NOT designed for an ingame tool to escape - Thats why the F1 Penalty was brought in.  Its a dreadful way to play this game.  If you get caught without an escort then "tough"  - its not like you weren't warned!  I have absolute respect for the traders that try (and often succeed) to outrun me.  I have respect for those that have the guts to fight back - nothing beats an angry Thoth in skilled hands.  My hero for this is [AoF][T]Argh - he has a Feure Zeuge and I wont give away his secrets - he has taken down his fair share of unwary pirates and rogues. Approaching his vessel is like taking on an armoured porcupine!  

The begging has stopped. That is good.  What is more there are other players out there who are willing to assist new players for no return or membership and they dont load them up with millions but get them started and on their way with a decent cargo ship and some backup for trading.  

Whilst there is much behavior here that is less than desirable, it is countered to some extent by the decent players who come here to have fun and relax.  Overall this place is very good manners wise - there are other servers where they are not quite so friendly and sometimes they are downright rude!
