I must be missing something here. As I understood it, the "war" was fought between TRIAD and their allies against Orion, ESF and their allies. Its a game. We all know that. Like in any game - unless you are all hugging trees and being "non-competative" as some are inclined to be, then you will always have adversarial content in threads posted about wars and conflict. It doesnt need to be personal - ie accusations of cheating and such, comments about players relatives etc... but, come on..... We all understand that there are areas for "Off Topic" threads and niceness - the majority of stuff posted on these forums is relatively friendly. Some of it is going to be along the lines of "We Won - You Lost" Now, of course that opens a whole argument as to what "winning and losing" consists of. Some can take it better than others. None of us likes to loose. Everyone likes to win. Depending on your perspective you will either be a sore looser and an arrogant winner or a gracious looser and an honourable winner. The most important aspect of all of this is: "How You Played The Game". Sometimes we say things we regret. Sometimes we dont regret saying these things. Truth is, if someone can come on to a thread after a good old fashioned blast at someone for something they said or did and APOLOGISE publicly, then they get my vote for being big enough to back off. Should there be any doubt as to the genuine behavoir of most here, you only have to look at the forums. They are not riddled with abuse and bad language cos the VOIDS and ADMINS keep a close eye on that sort of stuff. Many forums off site contain far worse than you will ever see or hear on the VOID. Most people here are of a well enough balanced nature that they dont get too "crazy" when things dont go their way.
Hate is a strong word and emotion. In order to actually "hate" someone you have to know them. You can dislike people and the things they do, but HATE is another level that we are all VERY far away from here. I dislike some of the things that TRIAD may have done. I dislike the way some of the players here on the VOID from all different clans behave. I have the tools and ability to do something about that because of the trust that ADMINS have given me in the form of my VOID Guardianship. I dont always get it right either. But I draw the line short of suggesting that I actually "hate" someone.
Enjoy the game. Fight the Wars. Start a War even! Wars can start either in game or on the Forums by either a comment or a direct challenge. If you challenge and loose - be gracious about it. If you challenge and win - be modest about it. Take the hit on the chin. Take the win to your heart and try not to make the other guy feel to bad about it. Celebrate your triumphs. Commiserate in your defeats. Thats what friends and allies are for. This is a shooter game not a tree hugging contest. Get a grip and go down fighting, but do it with some honour. If someone says or does something you dont like - either do something about it or ignore it. Stop posting about how you want people to stop posting about what people are saying or doing on the posts about people fighting and challenging and playing the game. If you want a hug - use msn.
Thats just my take on the whole thing, so I will go climb back into my box for a rest now..... Zeb ;)
