I believe Cedega should be able to solve your problem. Check your PM for more info.

well its thing its on the list but it wont work on cedega

http://cedegawiki.sweetleafstudios.com/wiki/Freelancer

i tried it myself and u can read it there anyway,

"Issues

   * In Cedega, installer will not even start - crashes immediately with unhanded exception. (Works fine in Wine, version 0.9.26)
   * The game itself will not work in either Wine (complains about a debugger) or Cedega (exits silently). "

soooo... anything else that might work?

XENON: Hahaha, nice listing, but "Longhorn" is just the project name that some lazy guy forgot in the bootloader, it's not really meant to be there. It also is, the nickname of the Vista "mainframe". Kind of difficult to explain, but I hope you get the picture :D .

I thought I'd post here for fun after returning from a trip outdoors with my family, so here is my list of operating systems I am aware of.

Microsoft: Windows 3.1, Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows 98 Special Edition, Windows 98 Millenium Edition, Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows Seven(In development).

Linux: Redhat, Ubuntu, Kubuntu, Xubuntu, Edubuntu, Slackware, Mandrake

Macintosh: OS6, OS7, OS8, OS10, Leopard

Other/Uncertain: FreeBSD, Solaris, ReaktOS

Back to the subject..

I would not hold my breath with getting Freelancer to work properly on Linux, as Freelancer is using parts of Microsoft Foundation Code libraries, so it's very likely that even if you manage to start it up, it might not be able to utilize all features, and it might be sluggish even of presumably high-end computers.

It could be possible, but it could also be impossible, I cannot say as I have not tried it myself. I do know that usually compiling Wine by yourself, or modifying the Wine code and then recompiling it, solves some compability issues with other games. It does require basic to moderate knowledge of the UNIX shell and Linux kernel, and most likely the programming language C.

There is no way atm that u can run Freelancer under Ubuntu.
I tryed myself too.

And if we talk about diffrent Operating systems, well they are over 2000 diffrent Linux-Based Oss only.
80% form the www-servers are Linux based.

btw, ever heard of OS written in java?
