Re: RP Licenses

Post by MajestikOne »

Hello all.

Only been back quite recently and I can't say I've fully explored the depths of the new mod yet but one thing did pop into mind with regards to the new licenses.

If I recall back to the time where RP began to die out and where pirates had no real role, I remember plenty of conversation based around the reinforcement of Role Play.

I'm quite ambiguous as to the true purpose of the Licenses and what they will permit in the long run but I thought it would be a good starting place to use them to more rigorously enforce RP on the basis that those who carry them are fully susceptible to the chosen RP regime.

I guess in a way this could allow for those who do not wish to RP to not carry licenses thus could be allowed to roam free. Then of course, I presume that those who do will have to adhere to a set of basic RP guidelines which could allow us to RP to a better standard.

I know that it has been debated that with stricter RP regulations It could detract players who do not wish to RP and that there is the possibility of loopholes in the concept for which people could exploit. The question I pose to you all today is could the benefits of this idea outweigh the disadvantages? If something like this were to be put into place, could it add that bit of extra spice to Role Play on the Void which we've all been longing?

Only a few ideas, I welcome comments and suggestions.

Regards

Lloyd

I know that on the Discovery servers there are very strict RP rules - even down to what equipment you are permitted to have - there is no "mix and match" like we can on the VOID server.  I too am a little puzzled as to how we can get something like this to work.  Given how things are at the moment, there are very few "rules" regarding RP which does tend to make it (as far as I can see) a more agreeable experience for those who wish to take part.  Even those who are not "strictly RP" have a certain set of guidlines depending on which clan they are part of.  Even the "independant" freelancers are bound by the server rules.

One reason i ask is that given how the Rogue RP is defined here and given that "technically" -=REAVERS=- are not permitted to be Rogues as they are a clan - if the rules were tightened up would that mean we would have to either become Pirates or disband?

This is not an invite to flame but for some serious and well thought out observations ..please?  I like RP in whatever shape or form it takes and it serves to enrich the VOID experience for certain.   I  guess "Licence to Murder" would be one option maybe..? Dunno.

One idea to create a meaningful sense of rp on The Void, without infringing on the fun for players who want to primarily pvp, would be to issue two types of licenses. One would be an rp license, i.e. freelancer, mercenary, pirate, rogue, bounty hunter, trader. The other license could be a pvp / non-rp license.

The idea would be, that rp and pvp license holders would not be allowed to interact. Rp'ers would do their thing and pvp'ers and others not interested in rp would do theirs.

But what kind of rp style do we as a community want here? Are we willing to have that rp rigidly enforced? Without additional rules and consistent enforcement of those rules, rp will quickly become meaningless.

well , i would to know what the idea behind these tags are too...

i think we need more tags , is that in the works ?

and to add , if its about rp and a tag or license , i think we all know its about us as the players to rp correctly , i dont think the admins want to force rules on the licenses...

we all must bring the rp to back into the game and stick to it....if you get bored of rp make a "sparta rock chat" character :) j/k

its up to each us really !?  :-??

you know rp , act like it !!
