Freelancer is a microsoft game and uses direct x extensively
Emulating direct x is illegal (read the EULA) so linux (or any unix based os) cannot run it.
If you REALLY hate windows that much then by all means use Linux in one form or another but I recommend having a partition with windows installed just so you don't miss out on things that linux simply can't do, like our beloved freelancer

ya i mostly use laptop and i got dual boot with vista, and hell it has a font bug with m$ games lol
