It probably seems inconsistent that I have come and gone several times in the past 6 months.

On the one hand,  I have felt a powerful sense of loyalty to the Void, its admin and members. It has stood for a lot of things I believe in. I have a lot of friends here and it's always been a lot of fun playing the game and visiting the forums. Especially the forums, since it represents the community that I have come to love. I have always believed in the idea that the Void is more than a game, in that it is a world-wide community of people who believe in the same thing: we all have something in common and use that commonality as a basis for overlooking international, ethnic and cultural differences to join together in a way I wish all the people of the world could.

On the other hand, I have had a hard time with the drama and bickering that has grown to permeate the Void. The whining, the cheating, the battle, the personal attacks, some people bringing ethnic discrimination into the game and instigating persecution.

Finally the rampant banning of players. As childish as some people's behavior has been, it is matched by the overbearing excersise of authority in banning players. We're banning the Void out of existence.

Ban me. I think the void authority has become an instrument of prosecution.... or rather persecution. It is out of hand. And it's reached ridiculous proportions.

You can count on one hand the number of bans I have handed out. I feel confident there is no hypocrisy in what I say.

So here I am in personal self-conflict. I have said I have returned... but since then I have spent very little time in the Void. That's because I find it has become a very uncomfortable and distasteful place.

So I will not return. Might as well ban me. I think the Void has come to the point where I will say here that it just don't want to be associated with it anymore. I am disappointed in the whole direction it has gone.

Good luck with it all. It's self-destructing and I don't want to be a part of it.

It was my pleasure to facilitate the purchase of the new server, even when the generosity of a lot of faithful voidians felt far short of the goal. Making up the difference to the tune of almost $2000 was worth every penny. It was my pleasure serving as a server guard. The respect I was shown by the staff and players alike felt pretty good and I appreciate it. It was my pleasure to be a part of the administrative staff. My friends there will be remembered with fondness always.

However...

Close my account. Wipe out my characters. Remove my server guard status and delete my forum account. I can't stand it any more.

This is me the way most people have never seen me. The nice guy has had enough. The wolf growls and bears his teeth, turns his back and scrapes his hind legs as if burying scat. The wolf runs off away from the pack. From time to time in the dark of night listen for the mournful howl of a lone wolf who will miss a lot of people.

You are a great player.  A great person, and a great server guard.  It's really sad and disapointing to see you go at such a tragic moment.  You will be missed by me and by the community.  

I just hope you will return some day in the future once the void has got a bit better than what it is now.

watchwolf i have to say to my dismay  that you are totally correct. i have been on over 20 servers before i came here almost 3 years ago. i can say that the one thing that made the void better than all the rest the servers was not the modding or  ships or bases, it was not even the clans the thing that has allways set the void apart from rest the servers was the admin team. we have the best admin team of any server but of late we have seen thing happening here that would have never happen before. bannes for thing that are not against the rules, threats from the admin team that would never happened before.

we have rules they are easy to follow and to inforce but it seems as late that some are adding their own little spin to the rules that has never happened and was not allowed to before. the real kick in the teeth is that there are those who are breaking rules and are not being banned and delt with while personal vendetas are being carried out this is totally unacceptable.

as a true veteran of the void i hate to see the way thing are going right now but also as a veteran i know thing always change and get better after. like it is said the sun always shines after the storm. but you have to weather the storm.

Sorry to see another long standing player leave (especially someone with integrity), the loss of such a player is more bad news for the Void community (such as it is at the moment).

Ok - Am I missing something here? I understand that its not just one single set of incidents that has caused this, however...

@Watchwolf - I am puzzled by your vagueness - its not like you.  I got to the stage were it seemed that anything the VOID guardians said was ignored and that certain people took to arguing over very simple decisions that would have been cleard and forgotten about within a matter of days.  For a while this seemed to be happening. Unfortumately this was just a lull in the proceedings and sadly, stronger action was needed and  taken. I stepped into an arena that no one else was prepared to go into.  Why people were afraid to do so will remain a mystery to me.

As Eagle says - a storm - and we will weather this squall - now as far as I know one incident  involved TWO members of one clan and TWO members of another.  Thats FOUR players.  I have sent you a PM and would be obliged if you could throw some light on this? "Rampant Banning of Players?"  Not sure I follow....PM would be better - if you can find the heart or the time to do so.

@Eagle One - as with WW - can you be a bit more specific? By PM if you have to...

@Wolfie - please tell me the number of ESF players that have been banned in the last 6 months as you seem to know?

The problem I have with this can be summed up in one easy phrase. "Wise After The Event or Woulda Shoulda Coulda.."  A pinch of good advice before hand is better than a bucket load of Wisdom afterwards...!
