see i dont think it is role play to shoot everyone you see, someone afk blow them up, someone talking to anouther player blow them up. someone lev 25 easy kill blow them up. a trade shipwith no way to protect itself blow it up, that is not role play that is called being a jerk, and tbh we dont need that on the void, never had it before and the void was number 1, now we do and we are no longer number 1. somthing to think about.
Well maybe you dont understand Nomads (Eclipse) RP.....Nomads kill everything and anyone regardless of what they doing....So thats our(Eclipse) RP !!!  Nomads are in the game and they we as Eclipse will be the Evilist RP ......as always!  Its not eing a jerk as you want to believe , its our RP ! ;)

And yes the rock , lol , its been brought up to many times !! #-o  %-(

Everyone has to do there part and go RP , i think if you want to sit at the rock then create a NON-CLAN character and fight in Sparta...or better yet wasnt that what EFZ was for ???

About X's , i dont think its the X's that need fixing , I think those traders and freelancers that are confronted by X's need to conform !!!  That why X's RP is dead ! :P

I agree with just about everything said.

I come from a heavy 'Serious' RP Background. If you were caught messing up OOC/IC Chat, Deathmatching, killing without reason, or anything else that someone wouldnt do in said RP scenario, you got banned.

I dont think the VOID needs to become a super-strict RP Community, but I would like it to head towards that direction. I think we have the best Mod out there, but we arent putting it to as best a use as we could. Perhaps we could setup another server that you have to RP on?

I agree with things that was spoken here. We - as a Nomad Slayers - are following our RP pretty often, hunting down nomad clan members, or defending Gamma from clan enemies. Yes, it's not much, but lately our activity is pretty low. In the other hand, pirate RP shouldn't be limited to Sparta only. Sitting in this system, and waiting for some players to tax is a wrong way in my opinion. They are quite strong in numbers, so taxing in the other places shoud't be a problem at all.

For pirate and rogue RP to fully reach its maximum, Navy and Police need to play their role. When I first started [Do[R]k] here we spent alot of time defending traders from pirates and other Rogues, which most ppl thought we were good guys when in truth the clan was indifferant, we were against all clans and those who preyed on traders. Another thing I have found, is that most ppl are to chicken to have clan tagged traders, clan tagged traders help promote RP. Placing bounties on ppl, or just hiring someone to protect you or whatever helps promote RP. There are those that don't understand and or don't care for role play, they either just want to shoot ppl/ npc's or just do as they wish. If you want to support RP, play your part by playing your role, and play your part in promoting it by bounties or contracting ppl.
We are working on bringing [Dork] back to the Void, and we take our RP seriously. We aren't afraid to run clan tagged traders, as it helps to promote RP relations with others. When we have more funds, we will place bounties when a RP relation brings us to do so. We don't care about frags, npc kills, or wealth. What we are here for is good RP and having fun with friends. After all, if you're not having fun, there really isn't much point in playing any game.

Eagle and I dont always see eye to eye on things all of the time but I am guessing that on the majority of things we do concur.  This place revolves in cycles - its been around for quite a while, at least in gaming terms I suspect.

RP or not to RP, that is the question...(apologies to the Bard!)  This place was set up as a shooter server if I am not mistaken - there were only three elements of RP involved  - Pirate, Rogue and Navy - it altered slightly to accomodate a variety of other diversities but these were never formalised as it was left to the players to decide how they would interpret their roles within the broader remit of the primary RP's.  There is no strict adherence to equipment / ships as per the Freelancer story - (go to any Discovery Server and you will see the very strict RP rules they have there).  One of the crazy things that happened was that a certain band of players caused their own special brand of  havoc and things were fun for most at least, sadly this got a bit out of hand. Whilst this was not to everyones liking on the whole it was not a bad thing.  Complacency is a killer in a place like this - complaining that you are bored whilst you sit around in Sparta hoping for a bit of PvP is what will kill this place DEAD...! Given the departure of some of the more exuberant players, folks started to bemoan the demise of the good old days.  In an attempt to inject some of what had gone before I set up the -=REAVERS=- .....and what a lot of thanks I got for doing that..! The response varied from outright hostility to plain and simple disinterest. Thankfully there were a few players prepared to put their money where their mouth is and stuck with this idea.  We are not as active as we should be due to some Real Life issues and we dwindled in numbers as people moved on to other things.  Like Eagle said - these things go in cycles and we intend to remain here as a reminder to the careless and those that will insist on sitting around in space doing nothing - AFK?  - if you want to be afk do it while docked or do it in New York....!

RP requires you to adhere to your chosen requirements and not flap about from one thing to another, or being wet and vague about what RP it is you are actually following.  Deviation from this is RP failure.  Many here go on about how they are Navy Clans but do you see them protecting traders, patroling trade routes, controling entry and exit to the systems?  Or do you find them hanging around in Sparta or Nomad 1 shooting at their own mates for practice or just expecting people to turn up for some PvP?  Enlighten me please....

Same goes for "pirates".  I agree totaly with Blazin' - Piracy is a very hard RP to follow....why? Because Traders and other clans have seen it fit to basicaly ignore the Pirates.  With a very restrictive limit of 200k and with no room to manouver they are forced into a role that is more suited to the Rogue role - and then they get moaned at..."Your not a pirate, youre being a rogue...why did you shoot me down? Why didnt you ask for tax?"
Answer - cos none of you will cough up.  VAGU, Netsphere, XEF, and many others did well at their role when others played along- now they are gone (for a variety of reasons)  and none of the traders want to play along with the role - its all about a fast buck to finance their addiction to PvP and Frags.

I for one purposefuly ignore Sparta.  Not that I couldnt do with the practice.  Same for Nomad 1 - although in some other characters I will go do missions there.

Lately there was some resurgence in activity in the Alexandria system - this is an excellent thing.   I am encouraged by the arrival of Blackheart and the return of [Dorks]  - we are now faced with an oportunity to restore some of the better aspects of game play that have been absent for a while.....and I dont know about you but the quality of some of the PvP's has improved lately - things appear to have leveled out a bit. There has been an influx of some new players - lets show em what this place can do and not make it a place for MSN chat and date tree huggers!

Traders - go work for your cash and for pities sake cough up when faced with insurmountable odds (what would be good is if you are defeated in a fight that you pay up as a forfiet for loosing..?) .  Pirates - go hunt down the traders - Use the U-boat Wolfpack method if you have to - make em pay either in $$$ or cargo - and keep on them till they cough up.  Evil clans - be evil - hunt down everyone and KOS, target the law enforcers and release your wrath upon the VOID.  Navy clans - look to your oath of law enforcement - stop the nefarious criminals and murderers wreaking havoc on your beloved Sirius system.

Make your minds up - RP or dont RP - the decision is yours alone - no one can make you unless we change the rules....

oh  i was not trying to say not to play your x or r char, my point is that we could bring a better role play into efect if we took it back to a clan level instead of a personal level. it gets more players involved plus it builds clan ability to hang together. one of the greatest thing i have always felt that made the void great was clans. you join a clan of friends you play together and have fun as a group. the void has lost that to a great deal with the rogue char. it has become "my frags" instead of "our clan". i think anyone with any maturity will agree that when all we care about is, what i am doing, things get very one sided. we tend to let that guy killing me become personal and we get angry. things are said in system chat or even in green that should not be said, players become defencive and tempers get short. now this can happen at a clan level but if you have a few level headed players on each side they tend to keep those hot heads in check. we end up with less bannes for wrong language, or not playing within the spirit of the game. and in the long run the game and the pvp becomes fun not some kind of " i am going to get you for that" vendeta.

again somthing to think about,

i do have one suggestion for the event staff try setting up a clan activity instead of just solo thing you might be amazed at the turn out. we (kba) use to have rabbit huntes long before anyone else did they became so popular that everyone wanted to get in on it. but it stop being about the clan and turned to one verse one play and falterd. remember fl is a multi leveled game not everything has to be about who you killed. but it can be fun. i would like to see some more clan pride among clans, why do you think so many players jump from one clan to anouther, no clan pride, look at the kba, over half our members have been here over 3 years and never been in any other clan but kba. we have some new members with less  time than that, but a new player in the kba has like over a years in the clan. why because we take great pride in our clan, both the time on server and the leadership it has on the server. ok that enough think about it event team. :-?  :)

You can make tax to 100 mil, you will never get a dime from me !!!! If you try to tax me I will hunt you down till I die !!! 4S is not taxable !!! We are here to defend weak and to remind strong where is there place !!!

We do not intervene in X job, but if they get to annoying we will protect who is asking for help !!!

R are always kill on site for us !!! There is not one thing that is honor in what they do !!! Killing everybody with out warning is just playing stupid !!!!

You cant get any more RP then that !!!! Stop crying about it and start to play the game !!!

P.S. There is more X and R on the void at the moment, then anybody else !!! The problem is that those X's does not know what there job is !!!

one thing zeb there were no rogues on this server untill after the 2112 mod came out in june 2006. shortly after the new mod a couple of guys thru this ideal out there and it caught on however not for the better in many cases.
some players can play a rogue and not be a jerk but many use it the wrong way, they think it is a frag getter. when you play for the frag not the fun you only hurt the game. imho.

we had clans that had a kill or be killed rep, saints, shadow are two that come to mind. the xef was created after the server had been here a little while because they had a trade run that was just crazy, like 40 million one way. you shelled out 3 million to make 40m. so the pirate was born, for a small fee you could make the run and not be blown to bits. there were players paying for a week of free trading at one time. even entire clans were paying for a week at a time. but now it is much harder for pirates to be pirates, like blazen said.

even without the rogues and and a lot of pirates there was plent of killing going on. :)

THIS is why I founded the Brotherhood of the Ankh. I have so many ideas for it, so much planned, yet I havent recieved any applicants. I plan on changing the way the 'Navy' does things. We need to patrol Alex, New Tokyo, New Berlin, and other trading routes. I cant very well do this with just me. I also cant do this without my tag. I sent Strail an organized and formal PM Requesting a Tag be added to the characters that LuckyShot and I own. So far no reply, which has greatly hindered our growth.

Yes. it's much harder for pirates to be pirates, because most of players are simply ignoring them. But sitting in one spot, and waiting isn't a good way to change anything. Imho they should be more active in taxing, it requires some commitment only.

I wonder what ever became of the [?] tag? That sounded like a good idea to me, it would stand for 'I RP but not in any fixed way'. It would need some features in the mod to make it work, however. I seen servers that let you (for a fee) broadcast a server-wide message (white messages). So you could announce "I'm a Navy today". Also, the RP licenses in NY (are they sold anywhere else??) would also be an identifier. The ultimate would be a base in EFZ that would have bribes that would get you RP reps that would label your ship in-game. Evil RP such as R's and X's would appear red to all, Lawful would show Green to all (unless they got the other bribe of course)

Then again I've RP'ed on non-RP servers for years, without any tags whatsoever. On almost every server but Void I made a highly specialized RP faction ship: Farmer's Alliance. Aside from flying only in Kusari with an oriental / Japanese sounding name, I didn't even announce my RP but played the role. Confused a lot of players let me tell ya. One player I escort his Rhino full of Lux Commodities to NT, but then attack another guy with the same who was going to Ainu. I hammed it up pretty good, which meant they usually figured out what I was doing, the best was when they'd say to me "... you're Farmer's Alliance aren't you?" That's what I played for, to be a PC version of the NPC faction. Too bad most (if not all) NPC factions you can't get the in-game tag for. Believe me I tried, my rep chart was almost perfect Alliance, except some conflicts between two ally of Alliance that hated each other. My point? RP is what you make of it, tags or no tags, and trust me tags make it easy.

Yes, but getting your name out there is much easier with a tag. I've already done my best in recruiting new players, with no luck. I guess the first few are always the most difficult..
