Now I am not using the watchwolf name but after I read this I would kind of think that it would be OK to do so.  Or could it be that this person is new never comes to the forums and has never heard the name Watchwolf before and figures it is Ok to use as the server let him pick it.   Now this person will be flying in space and everyone will start killing him and he will not know why! Now is killing him with no limits within the server rules or are old timers allowed to do this over a name.  This will not make for an enjoyable game experience for him and this kind of behavior is exactly what Strail was talking about.......

 Now this is just me but if I was using the name Watchwolf and I am getting raped in game due to the name then I think I would feel that this is not fun for everyone and that I was being forced off the server.  Now when I started playing here a few years ago I had picked a name that used to be used by someone else but that person never came back and when he did he picked a different name because as he had explained to me in game was that he had left and felt that he had no right to as he had left.

Maybe finding this person in game and explaining the situation about the name and asking the person to give it up might be a better idea to do instead of having all these people gang rape him/her till they leave.

 Which is something the "Other" Watchwolf may do if asked to, but to just come back and say I heard that someone took a name I was using once I left and now I am going to kill them and ask everyone else to do the same is just wrong and ruins the gameplay for this person.

Ah but you miss the point. I didn't "used" to have the name. I do. I have. I never relinquished it. "Watchwolf" as spelled and capitalized has always been registered since it was first claimed 20 months ago.

I am curious to see how the poser spells it, since you can't duplicate a name on the server. As was so correctly pointed out, the server won't let you. But if a person were to decide to use the name DodgerrMP, would this be OK? Or Asmodeususwife?

Perhaps I am a bit immature. We'll see how it goes. To repeatedly kill a player... well there's a line there. Somewhere. As blurred as it is. I'm sure it'll become clear as time goes on.

Oh, and if someone were to "flame" anyone else's reply here or anywhere that I were to see, I'd be the first to edit it or delete it. Not only as my duty as a Server Guard, but in the interest of fairness.

I would not really care, the people I play know me and would know this was a fake.  Now if the person were to be abusing my rep then I would have to put a stop to that, but that would be through a chat with the person then asking the A-team to step in and see if the offending character could be removed if they have the time, not killing him with no end in sight.

This would tell me for sure that you had given up the name.  It is a good thing that the A-Team did not follow through with your request as the "Other" Watchwolf could have used your name the way you actually spell it in game.  Not trying to put salt on a wound just trying to see it from the other side that this "other" person is being hunted or KOS for a petty reason.

Ask who?  If the person is gone then who do you ask?  Maybe this person does not like to go into the forums?  Look how long I have been registered and how many posts I have.  I go in game and play then leave, it has only been as of late that I have come into the forums. Now if there was a way for the people to Copyright or Trademark a name then this would be different.  This could be a way to fund the server also.  Pay a small fee per year to protect your name this way if, as in this case, someone had used it the owner could have the offender removed without violating the spirit of the game.

Don't get me wrong, Dodger. And you too, Mrs A. You have a valid point. A very strong one in fact. So much so that I am caused to reconsider.

Supposedly, the trait most embraced by the Void of [VOID]Watchwolf was his dedication to listening to and working with wayward Voidians rather than whipping out the ban stick. Patience and tolerance has been the Watchwolf hallmark.

If I were to follow through with this I would be nothing less than a hypocrite.

Further, your point of sullying the Watchwolf rep would in fact be reversed and it would be appropriate for people to say I would be damaging the rep of the other WW.

So, with all that in mind I apologize for the rash remarks.

I have been a bit cranky of late. Off my meds. Maybe a nice massage wold help...

Besides it's not like I have come screaming back. I pop in to the forums occasionally and into the game much less. Let people do and say as they will, and I shall too.

It would be much better if you see a Watchwolf spelled and charactered any other way than the genuine "Watchwolf", that the player be be talked to and informed that one of the Server Guards has had the name almost 2 years and would like to talk with him about the situation. I'll deal with it myself and with all the tact and diplomacy that people have said they would miss if I were to disappear.
