Titanium Crusher and the Borderworld engine illegal or not?

Post by YMER_ODEN »

My great Gods,

I sent the following PM to Void Admin Strail a while ago:
Hello Strail,

|YMER|-[X]FORSETE[X] informed me about the following:
"I was trading on void and I saw somes players with the Titanium Crusher (Illegal) but I said to [AoF][X]Haze[X] who have the Titanium Crusher that he can be ban with that Ship and he said that he never heard of that. I ask others players and they said that they never heard of that too. [AoF][X]Haze[X] said that the Titanium Crusher was Illegal only in Official Event .I heard that the Borderworld engine was Illegal too.
That may be not true but I was thinking that was interresting for the Clan to Know That."

Can you please inform me if the Titanium Crusher and the Borderworld engine are Illegal to use or not?

Thank you beforehand.
Response from Strail - Void admin:
Hi,

The titanium Crusher is not illegal to use - Its nonsense. Its in the mod and so its usable.

The borderworld engine is also legal. I think this comes from some players trying to change engines (which is illegal). As long as the borderworld engine is on the right ship theres no problem.

Tell them to speak to me if they have a problem. I dont like it when people make up their own rules and try and make others use them.

So it seems that we have another ship to explore  ;)

Have fun.

Indeed. The Tit. Crusher mostly does not take damage from guns, and flying it is considered as an unfair advantage by many.
You have to use the engine which is equipped to the ship you buy. Switching engines IS illegal! The general idea is: Everything you can buy and fly in the mod is legal. Manipulation of any kind is not.

And please note that most of the EVENT members will not accept either the Titanium Crusher or the Eagle into the Event. This is to avoid endless discussions about unfair advantages, because opinions differ as to whether these two ships are 'fairly balanced' or not. Just so you know.

This was the subject of some debate.  In most events and in PvP you will find people reluctant to engage with you whilst flying a Titanium Crusher.  It can be destroyed by missiles / torps and such but appears to be unable to take gunfire damage, or at least it is pretty much invulnerable to it and takes very little gun damage.  There are arguments at the moment as to the veracity of this as there are other vessels that appear to have their own "advantages" whether legal or otherwise.  The Eagle and the strange "non engined" Viper are prime examples .  As long as the borderworld engine comes with the ship you are on - fine.  Engine switching is a No No - Please dont do it.

All I will say is this:  If you want a character that will be pretty much left alone and that you are not bothered about using in PvP or in Events then by all means use a Titanium Crusher - it wards off the unwanted attention of the less experienced - however those who are good with missiles and torps will not hesitate to take you down -  though most will disengage and not fight you if you are in the TC. Thats not a rule - its just a choice that seems to be holding at the moment.  Best all round fighters on the VOID are the Anubis Mk2, WA1 and the Viper - these seem to be the best balanced.  Eagles are not ill(eagle) - haha Zeb made a funny!
but seem to be more acceptable as when you can hit them they are vulnerable to gunfire - unlike the TC.  I havent been made aware of any "fixes" to this and I suspect that there is "nothing to fix" at the moment.  In the end the choice is yours.  I use one in a freelancer character and so far I have not been too bothered by others - I will be curious to see how any combat goes because I am the self confessed worst PvPer on the VOID - thats about the best measure of whether this thing is invincible or not.... ;)

Hey Zeb,
worse than me, that is almost impossible  ;)

Maybe the Event team should organize a reverse event,
the winner leaves the tournament, the loser gets in the next fight,
the loser of the final is the official worst PvPer on the Void  :D

have fun

Lemme introduce you another ship that seems to work different as it "should" be. The WARAN.

What happens to this ship? it has 9900 armor (same as eagle) and you all know how easy is to beat it. No matter if u use guns or rockets, its hull seems made of paper-maché. How comes that?

Well, if you strip down the shield of an Eagle, you will be able to take it down with one well-placed salvo or just one torp. That is, IF you can get the shield down lol. But ships with hull values below 10000 are quite easy to destroy once the shield is down. That's my experience at least.

On the Waran - a bit off topic I know - but it is actually constructed from PapierMache as the Pirates where living on Planet Mache at the time...... hehe.   Maybe we should have a Waran tournament sometime?

Sorry to but in on this but I'm a bit confused. Is the problem with the tc not being damaged with weaps just a pvp thing or something?
I used one to fight against the robots. Needed something more menuverable than the anubis mk2. Beleive me, there weaps damaged me no problem. Got wasted quite easily under about 2 secs of intense laser so it aint invinsable. Went down easier than the anubis mk2, which is what it should have done.

Now, I have noticed that the effect you describe shows else ware. I've seen me hammering a nomad npc with laser 3's, diamondbacks etc... You can see the laser impacting off the hull repeatedly but it takes a few seconds of this before the hull starts to show damage. These weaps should take a reasonable chunk of the hull each, in one shot. Now if I've got seven weaps like that hitting them but it takes a few seconds to start doing hull damage...

I put this down to one of a handfull of bugs I've found while fighting the games more advanced npc's. Similar thing is happening with torps. They ocassionaly do little or no damage after a direct hit. Noticed a couple of npc fight AI bugs as well. Seen hostile npc's stopping dead and not moving for ages, while fighting. Seen hostile npc's declairing "no more bandits" and tractoring in loot while I was still fighting with them. Was like they couln't see me.

Edit:- Now that I think of it, I've seen this weap thing the other way as well. Fighting nomads in a valkrey n1. Watched my sheild drop. Saw a few energy cannon shots hit my hull and shake the ship. Shield goes back up, I go to repair the hull damage but there is no damage to repair. Thats after watching a few shots visibly hitting my hull.

Though Mikey is right about reporting bugs like this on the bugs thread, the TC related bugs are a pvp thing. It only seems to show itself when fighting player versus player. Fighting NPC's in a Tit Crusher is exactly like it should be.

Regarding the bugs you found whilst fighting NPC's: maybe it's a good idea to put them in a bug thread, so that Strail can pick them up.
