Right, tags.

What wrong with them? I think your looking in the wrong place?

The tags have nothing wrong with them. Its the players attitudes. For example, a bunch of rogues team up with navy to kill  a couple of guys because they don't want to be outnumbered.

So tags summed up as i see it.

Rogues, do what they are good at, hit and run, underhanded tactics. Killing unexpectedly. I don't see anything wrong with that?

Pirates. Who the hell pays tax? ohhhh no one? So no point. so this means that pirates are very rarely tax and have to act like rogues.

Navy. Would be good. Have some great RP fights, if there were more pirates and evil actually doing something.

Hunter, same as navy

Traders. Whine and moaning about being killed, get a fighter, take a different trade lane? It cant be that hard to do some simple logic? don't like being killed? Go trade in New York.

Mercs / assassins, no one tends to hire them? Why, because people don't mind taking 10 guys to kill 2 people.

The real problem?

I don't think enough people have enough respect for the others players. Its all rape rape rape. Moan moan moan.

Ohh and why do people care if they die?

FRAGS. How many times do i have to say it? Will the admins finally listen? This sort of crap never happened when the old godlike was on. Everyone was having fun trying to get rampages running amok, godlikes.

This also meant that players then decided to hunt players that were trying to get godlikes etc. It gave some good RP.

Now everyone is frag whoring, heck. Even i do it. So if anyone even bothers to read this and i dont get shunned as usual. Please bring back the godlike messages and scrap the frags. Then try and make some sort of rules about user friendliness.

Well, i guess its still my opinion. But thats how i see it.

Greaver.

If you look at the message when you first log in you will see that it's not only [R] and [X] that will want to kill you.

You may also see Burn is a lucky man lmao
Yes, i'm blowing myself up after each completed mission to save time (meaning not traveling the whole way back again to the base) so if i'm online and the missions are working you will probbaly see that message very often lol
Right,back on topic.
Given the fact that it is a game it's suppose to be fun for everyone however getting killed in a game is not fun for most players and sadly some of them get very frustrated about this and decide to leave. (especially when being atacked by a  sneaking Rogue without any warning ) So what is the purpose of the R tag despite of ruining other players fun?
The introduction of the R tag has only encouraged an abusive behavior. You might ask yourself why the gunned down players don't retaliate by craeting some fighter chars on their own and hunt them Rogues down (or why don't they call for help) well maybe they just came here to escape their rl and in the end want to be left alone and play the game in their own manner without being disturbed by anyone.
Yes you will say now that space is a dangerous place well in my opinion the only dangerous thing about the Void space are the Rogues. If it was just very few of them it would be ok but many players are creating R chars somehow forced by the rules as if they won't do it and choose a Freelancer char to shoot people down they will risk being banned for it.The so called "unwritten" 5 killing rule should be turned into a official rule and if it was after me i'd change it into 3 killing consecutive rule.
Now i've read most of the post and saw that some of them are also refering to the lack of onlone players.
Here are my thoughts about that:
And i would like to campare the Void with a playground with children having fun and playing around with their toys.
Sadly throughout the years their toys (a.k.a ships and equipment on Void) are getting pretty "rusty" and the children are loosing interest very fast (in the end it's human nature) We have indeed been given new playgrounds (a.k. systems) to be explored and played on but the word has spread very fast about these new system (especially about their content) and sadly i must say that they are very rarely been visited by most of the players.
At first i thought about it of a very good idea but it looks like most Freelancer players (including me) were not ready for these massive new 3D system and lost interest very fast.
Now if we're talking about low player numbers and the urgent need of change about this i think it would be good if each new 3D system would be replaced by a new ship+ a new class 9 or 10 gun or shield. In the end that is how things go people get bored very quickly and if you don't offer them a new variaty of "toys" to play with they'll look for something better.
This link only confirms my theory: http://www.voidserver.com/modules.php?n ... &pollID=10  with the "toys" (Ships+Equipment) having an overwhelmingly procentage (somewhere around 70%) compared to the other availabilities in the list. It's sad but true
Strail has indeed put up a lot of effort in creating these new system for us but we (the players) were just not ready for this great change in my opinion.
Sorry to bring this off topic but it's something that i really wanted to point out.

For once, we agree on something; but if I remember rightly there've been a few calls to ditch the frags, and I think whenever the topic's raised it transpires that getting rid of frags would mean sacrificing all other aspects of that particular sorftware, like bank commands and autobuy etc. Possibly some anti-cheat functions too, I can't remember what the exact problem was, but I'm reasonably sure it was something like that.

The tags themselves have worked perfectly well for as long as I can remember, and all this upheaval over killing people full-time without a rogue tag just boils down to etiquette- if you want to kill people all the time, why wouldn't you carry an indication that you're going to do so? You get a better fight out of someone who knows you're going to attack.
If you then want a quiet PVP session, why not just use an untagged character. Better yet, there may be a small prize for the first person who can tell me what the EFZ is for. Well, children?

In short, the tags work, people's brains don't.
If you read Saxons post with your eyes open, you may see that he don't want to kill all the time.
would you feel ok if admins made you put a RP tag on your Freelancer char just because you killed a player on a shooting game? ffs
I wouldn't know about that- I don't have a freelancer character. Is there any point in having one? If i want to kill people I use a rogue or Eclipse character, if I want a few straight fights without being jumped on I go to the EFZ. It's always worked fine for me, perhaps you can enlighten me as to why it wouldn't work for anyone else, because I'm beginning to suspect I'm somewhat removed from the issue here.

Everybody is your enemy until proven otherwise. Be suspicious of everyone, trust no-one.

If everyone lived by this I think there would be less problems.

Because killing people in a freelancer character apparently gets you banned these days, if you remember the point of Saxon's post in the first place. All I'm saying is that I haven't had to change my style of play in the face of this rule, and can kill people all day merrily unencumbered and thus haven't had to raise such a racket.
as somebody pointed out the [R] should be shoot on sight and i dont want to have worry about stumbleing into a lot of players and then be asking for my pants back after i get gang banged LMAO ;)
So let me see if I'm getting this right-
You want to attack people unprovoked in a freelancer character so you don't get unexpectedly attacked yourself?

Am I the only one who sees something amiss here?
