Re: In-Game Tag Discussion
I do not mean to bring flames into this thread, but I just want to show you guys the state of this server.
I am in my H char, my H char's RP is to kill pirates. I explained this to the pirate who was dumb enough to dock at the base where 5 hunters are sitting, and what do I get? I get this:

Now, its very hard for me to blow myself, because I am of the female persuasion, BUT, why the flames? No one ganked him, he just docked. He accused me of dockraping him as he was going INTO the dock, I shot him. We all know coming outta the dock is dock rape, not going in.
My point here is, when I am in my H, I RP, apparently this guy, don't know jack about RP, or cares about it, which is okay by me, BUT telling me to go blow myself is over the top.
And that my friends, is what is wrong with FL today.

Re: In-Game Tag Discussion
Actually, <666> clan is not a pirate clan. They're more an "evil" clan.
Still, the chat was uncalled for.
I must say I am distressed by all this. I can only imagine how the Boss must feel. He puts his soul into this place. And with all else that's going on... no friends, this is not his job, it's more of a hobby, a labor of love that he gives - accent on GIVES - to everyone to enjoy... with all the real life things he deals with, as do we all, he's puts this up here every day for you. Not for himself... for everyone. He builds it and he puts his own $ into it when donations run short of the bills. We all put in together to get the Void this server and I say it's served us well. But beyond that, it's from one guy with a dream and a love for the game. I cannot understand why bickering and personal vendettas, rudeness and just plain unsportsmanship seems to happen to the degree it does. The mans asks what he can do to make RP better for everyone, he gets good input from dozens of players, the silent majority remains silent, and then in-game these silent ones speak up with the kinds of activities we see above.
All I can say is, the man's got a a lot more patience than I do.
Maybe it is time to put this to rest.

If this does go to rest though, some of these ideas need to be put into action! You can't just talk about what would be good for the server, you have to do it! And hey, if it doesn't work, and it's a total flop, then just go back to the way it was! What's the harm?

Re: In-Game Tag Discussion
Why do you insist in moanings all the time?
Have you played others shooting online games?
The strail's post is not about moanings, they are part of any game, you cant stop it. Moaners, cheaters, bad manner players, Harrasing..... you cant stop that (unfortunately)
Maybe I am wrong but I think that the post is about the server, the RP, the tags and the protection of new players. Because a veteran player can moan, but he would not leave server because he was killed, and if he does, then is better because he didnt understand what about is the game.
Some ppl wanna kill all that moves and they dont want to get a tag. That is the question. Some said to create a non RP tag, others keep all and let ppl fight, others just increase minimum level and let ppl fight....
that is the discussion and not moaners or bans or noobs or frags.
PD: Frag command is a tool, how you use it makes it bad or good, so dont punish players taking away a good tool

Re: In-Game Tag Discussion
Just a little add-on:
If the [R] tag will be removed (wich i seriously doubt) i think it would be only fair that the REAVERS clan should be removed aswell.
Also in solidarity with the DTA clan each Reavers member should receive at least a 7 day ban (allthough they deserve much more in my oppinion) as their clan was a failed immitation of the one and true DTA clan.
Abusing of a tag and massivly killing players is one thing but banning them and copying their game play is just shamefull.
Funny thing about the [R] tag is that it was put into place so that people will stop sending PM's to the Admins with complaints about Freelancers (non-tagged) players shooting them down with no reason.
This tag + the frags list lead to a "biblical" killing spree on this server wich itself lead to a departure of numerous frustrated players.
Maybe you're right and the moaning will not stop after the removal of this tag but in my opinion it will drop dramaticly.
2 years ago when i used to fly around the gates of Alexandria i was not shot down from the back but asked by a player to pvp in a mannered way.

I don't think the moaning will stop, since this is dependent on the behavior of the players, and not tag-related in any way. Even if you would remove the R tag, people will keep being killed. By evil clans for example. And no, not only REAVERS is a clan like that. Think about Eclipse, Black Legion and DKH. They are hostile to most players, so they will kill most players without warning, because it is their RP. You cannot remove killing itself from a shooter server, so you won't be able to remove the moaning either.
2 years ago when i used to fly around the gates of Alexandria i was not shot down from the back but asked by a player to pvp in a mannered way.
Just a clarification:
PVP is something entirely different than RP-based attacks. PVP is an arranged from of attacking, whilst RP-based attacks are unannounced, and they should be too. Ever met a pirate or criminal (Rogue) in RL politely asking for your permission to shoot you? Don't think so. It is in the essence of their evil nature to attack others without warning. What else would you expect from an evil and outlaw individual? A cup of tea?
You can never compare the two.
Shonen is right, the problem does not lie as much in the tags, as it does in the behavior of the players involved, both the way players handle and perform their chosen RP, as well as the way people handle being attacked and killed. On a S H O O T E R server. People should get used to being attacked every now and then and take it on the chin, not start moaning about it. That is where the problem lies. And not in the tags.

Re: In-Game Tag Discussion
As a result of regular ongoing arguments about tags and role-play, I'm inviting people to put forward ideas on what we do or what we change.
I'm sick and tired of having the same arguments and the same discussions every few months, so, nows the time for you to put up some suggestions and see if we can get a general consensus on it all.
Im particularly interested to hear what the role playing people think, as well as the non role play people think.
Keep in mind that "get rid of them all" isnt going to work and is a dumb thing to say given the mix of players, as is having lists and lists of tags.
Please keep it constructive, there are a lot of different views and we need to maybe draw from other servers and their rules to make this work.
Maybe I am the only one that dont see the expression "moans" in the Strail's question.
Open a new one about moanings but I thik that this one is about tag, RP and non RP. Talking about moans, noobs, behaviur etc.. dont solve anything, it is a waste of time

Re: In-Game Tag Discussion
I was thinking about your remark about removing the REAVERS along with the [R] tag.
My question is 'why'? If you were to do that, you might as well remove the DKH, the Black Legion, the Eclipse and maybe some others as well from the server. That would do a lot of good to the server occupation wouldn't it? :-?? You might as well pull the plug straight away.
Rogues and evil clans bring a sense of tension and danger to the server environment. Without the danger of being attacked, we might as well all go sit in Sparta chatting eachother up. Or play Rummycub and Monopoly. The only things left to do would be NPC killing, missions, trading (why then?) and arranged pvp's. How exciting.
With all do respect to the players who choose to walk the path of the NPC slaying or missions, being in a (evil) clan is just another way to play the game. Just like shooting red dots and doing missions are. In fact, clans and RP tags like [X] and [R] are specific things you would only see on a server. Red-dotting and missions can also be done on vanilla. Every player makes the choice at a certain point as to which path he is going to follow. Whatever a player chooses, his choice should be respected. Whether it is doing missions, shooting red-dots, being a Rogue or a Pirate or being in a (evil) clan. If people doing missions don't want to be arsed with Rogues and what not, they should be left alone. There are plenty of others to kill for the evils here. On the other hand, they should keep a safe distance from where-ever these evils are. I'm not walking through a neighborhood from which I know it is invested with criminals now do I?
It all comes down to mutual understanding for eachother's choice of playing and respecting that. Removing one of the main elements that make this server the exciting one it is to play on, (Rogues and evil clans) is not the solution. Mature behavior is.
*EDIT*:
I stand by my previous statement to separate RP and non-RP player interaction and simplifying the tags. Keep the [R], [X] and [T] as recognized tags. The rest is up to the players themselves.
With that, we should all work a little harder to recognize the fact that we are playing on a mixed server, where all kinds of play are welcomed, but the shooter character is dominant. That about sums it up from my perspective.

Re: In-Game Tag Discussion
I didnt want to make another thread for this as this is about RP tags pretty much.... On my Blazin_uk char i have a Europa Navy faction tag..... Does that mean its a RP char or is it just a freelancer with a tag that doesnt mean nothing its just there to looks pretty? I would of thought it was a RP char as it has got tags it just doesnt show up in the chat like the normal tags we usually see around.
Tbh i would think havin these Faction tags would make things pretty neat to have save hassle and u would know who or what is what, cuz people would either be Green/red or white for neutral. So if someone had a Rogue faction tag then he would be red to the navy and other factions so then u know he would shoot u without reasons.
only my opinion.

It's a brilliant idea Blazin but a little bit complicated.
For example if you choose to be a Rogue you won't be able to dock on many locations as you are hostile to most of them due to your reputation and this might be a problem for some.
But that's exactly how things should be if you choose to be the "scum of the universe" you'll have to deal with these restrictions.

Thats how its suppose to be when u roleplay, there is some of these so called reoleplayers just landin on any base which is not proper roleplay at all, just for example the Nomad clans the Evils clans and even the navy clans dock on opposite RP bases which is total nonsense, so havin tags really doesnt do anything for RP , i say scrap the tags and get the actual faction tags! atleast if people want to RP then it will be true RP and not the so called RP we see nowadays where most ppl do what they like.
For none roleplayers maybe there can be a tag like the [-] which was brought up a while ago. And they are the people who cant fight with the roleplayers who have the faction tags. But they can pvp amongst themself so call them the None roleplayers and PvPers.
Maybe its too confusin but its just a opinion.
