Id like to point this out because i got "kicked for cheating" while doing this. Dont worry im not angry or anything but this is just a suggestion.
I havent tried this with other ships yet but when i was in my Armoured Transport i went to manhattan (pardon my spelling). I was randomly looking around the equipment dealer to see what they had for armoured transports and i ran into something strange. there was an engine available for purchase, im not 100% sure what it was because im at tafe at the moment. i think it was a borderworlds engine. anyway i was like cool its faster than my engine i should buy it, so i unequipped my current engine (cant sell them) and tried buying the engine in the shop. BAM! kicked for cheating....
Anyway so the whole point of my story is beware of the engine for sale in manhattan.

The engine you are talking about is the Borderworld Light Fighter Engine.
The reason it's there to buy is that it is a remainder of - if I'm not mistaken - an anti-cheat device of sorts from  previous versions of the Void mod. How it worked exactly I forgot, but that is why it is there.

Important thing is that you shouldn't buy an engine which name clearly indicates it doesn't belong there. If you aren't flying a 'Borderworld Light Fighter', you shouldn't buy a 'Borderworld Light Fighter Engine'. Same goes for any weaponry. If you are flying a Gunboat, do not buy and mount Battleship turrets on it. They are not meant for that.
Not too long ago we had a couple of weeks when new (and old) players had the urge to switch engines, and mount different ones than the ones belonging on their ships, causing some problems to the server. Luckily this wave has now passed.

From what I have been told, mounting a wrong engine, or wrong weapons like the battleship turrets on the Gunboat for example, unnecessarily stress the server. As it recognizes an item that doesn't belong somewhere, it spends extra energy in making sense of it, resulting in negative side-effects like lag for other players.
This is what I remember from what I have been told, admins please feel free to correct me where I am wrong.

No offense, but it's quite simple. If an engine is called 'Borderworld Light Fighter Engine', and therefore very clearly meant to go on a 'Borderworld Light Fighter', why mount it on an Armored Transport? The name already indicates it doesn't belong there, so why go push the odds?

So in short: in principle you can buy and mount any piece of equipment you can lay your hands on. UNLESS the name of the piece clearly indicates it is specifically meant for a certain type of ship. If this is the case, please do not mount it on your ship. It causes unnecessary problems to the server.

real simple m8 do not ever change your engines it will kick no mater were you are. engines are not made to be changed. strail is aware of the bug and hope to see it fixed in the nest update so it will not even be there to confuse new players.

but thank you for posting it, always assume we dont know something, some times you find things we did not know about, that is how we make a more stable and better server.

Ok no worries Was just wondering about it. Haha and yeh i should have probably made the connection between an engine that was named something completely different to my current ship. In the famous words of...someone i dont know, "My bad".
