Great BountyHunter event! :D

Post by Maverick »

After the somewhat disappointing race-event I was going to log off in a somewhat disappointed mood, but thought what the heck, I'll give it another shot. I quickly scanned the suggestions list you all composed, and decided I would do a Bounty Hunt event.

I asked for a volunteer to be the target and got the first green from {R}-DESASTER-{R}, who has been the target many times before. We gathered at Planet Demosthenes and I sent out some messages informing about the rules. These were:
  • Target is allowed to regen
  • Hunters are NOT allowed to regen
  • No docking
  • All systems could be used with the exception of the 3D's and New York (We later decided Alexandria was big enough, so we stayed there)
  • Prize for killing the target was 50 mill
  • Target would start at Planet Demosthenes and would have a one minute advance
  • No off-map flying

I then grouped up with the target so I could give hints about his whereabouts and be a ref for the final fight.

After we left, I started out with very general hints, and changed to more specific hints like telling the sector we were in and the heading. I did most of this on the uni channel, which caused some spam and maybe a bit of lag, but I wanted to include the entire server into the 'sensation' so to speak.

At first I was a bit disappointed when I saw only 3 other players following us, but this changed pretty quickly to a number of around 15, which was a good sign.

Halfway the event we ran into X-Fighter, who managed to get a few shots off and took some of the shield of the target. A few minutes later we ran into [RAF]-Panther-[H], who came really close and did some damage too. He would later turn out to be the winner of the event.

After about 45 minutes, we decided to take the battle to Barsine Base to make it a little bit more exciting and to create the possibility to actually shoot the target. It's a fact that it's extremely hard to find one target in a system such as Alexandria, with all its gas clouds.
I announced this so people could prepare for the big fight.

When we got there, we received a very warm welcome. I think there must have been around 15 players waiting for us. A great battle followed. A long one too, as the target was flying a Discoverer, and was very hard to hit. And of course he was allowed to regen.

Slowly he ran out of bats and bots and the final shot was served by the winner [RAF]-Panther-[H]. He won a respectable 50 million. I also decided to pay the target {R}-DESASTER-{R} the amount of 25 million, because he had shown to be a great target. He listened well to my directions and played the game nicely. He also put the time and effort in, and that should be rewarded also.

All of the prize money is money I received from the community in the form of donations over the last few weeks. This way we can keep the server money balanced.

I want to thank all the participants for delivering a great event and playing it honorable. Also a big huge thank you to the target {R}-DESASTER-{R} for doing a great job. And I want to thank everybody for making donations in the past few weeks. Your donations make it a real community-thing and make sure we keep the money on the server balanced. Claps for all of you!
And of course a big gratz to the winner [RAF]_Panther-[H]. Nicely done 'ol' chap'!  =D>

Howcome I'm never on when this stuff happens? I need to watch out more...

Anyway, looks like you had a fun time, must've been quite the chase through Alexandria - hopefully not too much Trade Lane abusing, but it doesn't look like it though :D

I think it's your time zone m8. You are from NZ, so I think that's a big difference with the time zones the majority of the players are in, sorry to say. I also think most if not all members of the Event team live in the GMT-ish time zone. So that makes it a bit hard to serve the players in the other zones. The only solution would be to get an Event team member from your side of the zones. Interested? ;)

Thanks for the kind replies all. We had a good time. Although even this event includes a very big element of pvp, locking out the newer players on our server. Still thinking of a type of event to attract newbies. They are the potential future, so it's important we give them a good time. It's just that it seems hard to get a decent amount of newbies in an event, because there are never more than let's say 5 on at the same time. Well if we can't find a way, we can always see if we could turn it around and make the newbies more skilled for pvp in the form of pvp training or something.

Post by [RAF]-Panther-[H] »

hi - well i must agree it was a great event - i dont normally take part in such things as i never get anywhere
but there was only 3 of us so i thought why not - then i was joined by another RAF - i told him to hunt the rogue
for a prize of 50 mill - shortly after was joined by yet another RAF - told him the same - we worked quite well and we soon got close on DESASTERS backside - the first RAF to actually come across DESASTER was RAF TARKUS.
unfortunately the rogue escaped i eventually found him and was with him whilst he flew halfway across the map
to barsine . by the time i got there there was quite a few players waiting to bag the prize. i almost gave up when i seen them all - thiking well i aint gonna get anywhere now, but i attacked ,just like everybody else and luckily i was the victor

well done RAF`s for gd communication and teamwork
a very well deserved congrats for DESASTER for living so long in that huge battle
well done to all that ambushed as desaster approached barsine

drinks are on me chaps :)

Sounds like a plan... and yes, I do realise that I'm in a different timezone, just feel I sound like a smarta** saying it all the time lol

Well you could always try a few events, apply for the team and post the screenies.... You will need someone to do the announcements for you, but I think [FAQ]-Mystic, [FAQ]-Alphawolf-, [VOID]_Gan, [VOID]-EAGELONE and maybe a few others are about your timeone m8.
If you decide to try it - good luck!
